As a moderator, I am often asked to delete old posts or threads that have been closed by the original poster. My options, when giving the reason, are limited so I often put other. Can we have another option, such as suggested by a member, of ‘Thread Dormant‘ please. Members are confused when they see ‘other‘ as it means little to them.

To App Users - issue with push notifications
Hi, it seems there is some issue with push notification on the app. Some people do get them, but some don't (including me). We're looking into the issue.
Please post a comment here if you get them or not, thanks. -
It looks like Scooploop has problems
My name, join date and location have just changed.
Can somebody from Scooploop sort it out please as I think there is a possibility you have some gremlins in the system! -
Hi All,
We would kindly ask you all to update and change your passwords on Scooploop. It is important to make your password as strong as possible, including some of the following: numbers, upper/lower case, extra characters, symbols etc.
Having some of the above in your password will ensure that your password is stronger.
Thank you.

Why was one of my members unable to access MSLCHAT
I received a message that she had left but she hadn’t and I did not exclude her. Any ideas?

Hi.... had a look at your Beta Analytics of Groups looks interesting but what exactly does 'Impressions' measure ?

Hi All,
As it stands, when a user creates their profile on Scooploop and inserts their name, for example, 'John Smith', what we display is 'John S'.We've been getting a lot feedback suggesting to change this feature, as many people would like to be found on Scooploop by their real name.
We've decided that the current feature needs to go as it's very archaic.
We therefore will leave it to users, to decide what is displayed, by simply adjusting NAME field in account settings.
However, we do not want any real surnames to be exposed unwillingly, that is why all displayed names will become the actual names in your settings. It is a users decision if they would like to show their full name or not, we understand that some users may not be happy with this showing.
To clarify, we just want to let you know that:
- No real surnames will be exposed
- If you want to add your real, full name on your profile, please visit account settings and change it, as it will not automatically be changed, you will have to do this yourself.
Thank you,
The Scooploop Team. -
Problems with members getting back on Scooploop (Edited)
I have had 2 members trying to get onto Scooploop and into MSLCHAT. Margaret H has tried for 3 days but to no avail and Joginder L cannot access the website today. Please can someone help these members.
-
It would be nice to get a little warning !
......there I was just browsing and all of a sudden the way I access Scooploop groups had changed !
-
I don’t know how these things work so bear with me. I now have to log into SL afresh several/many times each day instead of occasionally as before. I access SL on my iPhone 7, using the app. Is this a phone problem or a problem with SL?
-
Would you please prevent this from happening.
@FranW appears to have found a way of generating threads in one group by linking it to another group.
Could I suggest that if you want to discuss anything then by all means raise the subject. But what individuals write in one group may not be what they want people in another group to see.
I doubt that any permission was given by either group owner to allow this to happen and I would hope that Scooploop would not allow access to a group by individuals who are not members (open or private), otherwise we may as well not have groups and just let this individual show us what to read wherever she finds it!
I will be putting up a post for Scooploop to investigate and hopefully prevent this. This discussion is now closed.

Android Scooploop grinding to a halt! (Edited)
What is happening with Scooploop, it is becoming unusable as it takes so long to load that is if it doesn't time out before loading.
I normally use the Android app on my Samsung galaxy Tab s5e (all up to date) from a restart an having cleared the cache, I am now using the Edge Browser on my tablet and it is frustratingly slow still, so after several attempts I can finally report it.
I have noticed that for the past month or so the server responses have been variable but a steady decline in performance is now making it harder to use. All other Internet programs and apps are working normally on the tablet.
I use my Windows 10 PC late at night and all browsers work quite quickly, it is just the Android system (don't know about the Apple system). This discussion is now closed.

Regarding: Message for all Scooploop Users (Pt 2)
I've been absent for a little while, so didn't have a chance to comment on this thread before it was closed. So I've started an extension, hope this is okay.
I do not befriend anyone on here, as I don't know them. But I exchange PMs with people with whom I share the same opinions and interest. Therefore, it makes no sense to only accept messages from friends. If I receive unwanted messages, I have the option to either deflect them, or block the sender. -
Message for all Scooploop Users (Edited)
Hi All,
As some of you are aware, there has been a lot of activity going on in some of the groups, and we are aware that some of this has been a lot of negativity towards other users. We appreciate that not everyone will get along on social media platforms but we are a site that wants to promote a positive and community feel for all. As you can appreciate, Scooploop is a small team so we are working hard to ensure that we continue to improve the site and listen too all feedback and try to see what we can do to implement any changes.
We are now going to allow all moderators to see who sends in reports on comments, so that the moderator will have more understanding of what and how they can help keep the group they have created a positive and happy one. We also want to remind moderators they can suspend users without needing to remove them from group. The suspension is only known to moderators and that suspended user. As a reminder, any moderator that shares a report that a user has sent with another user or publicly on Scooploop, will be going against Scooploop policy and will be removed as moderator, this is something we are taking very seriously, and we do not want moderators taking advantage of this. We realise that tension can happen in groups and not all agree with each others view points on subjects. However, if you do not feel that the group you are part of is something you no longer enjoy, we also suggest it could be great to start a fresh new group that you can create about a subject more to your choosing.
We appreciate all your feedback on helping to improve Scooploop and we want to ensure it is a positive site for all. We ask you all kindly to be respectful and kind to one another.
Thank you,

Limiting messenger to friends only
Hi all,
we've been getting complaints about people getting some random fishy messages from users they didn't know.
How does our community here feel about limiting the messenger only to Scooploop friends? This discussion is now closed.

Hi Scooploop team,
I have reported this problem before. In Pastime I updated this morning game "words with two vowels" but it did not move up to top.
One has to search 1 month down to find the game and others.
Not many people play now as they have to search so far back.
Please could you look into this problem. Thank you -
Posts not appearing in Anything group (Edited)
I have a notification of a post, and when clicked it shows only the individual post; it does not show at the top of Anything.
I made a post a long time ago this morning in Anything, and that has not appeared. -
No email notifications for three days.
I haven't had any email notifications for the last three days. My settings are set to receive daily notifications. Is it just me or a more widespread problem?

Service issues Saturday 27 June

when searching for MSL chat in the groups - it is not listed neither does a search yeild any results. The moderator has the same problem.
I am using the android app on a tablet, both up to date.
when I tried to post in MSL I got this message (screenshot), however when I tried in the Anything group I was successful albeit after some delay.
Have you a servver problem? This discussion is now closed.

Email notification links not working
When I get notifications by email the links only work for new comments. If I click a link for new posts which includes groups which I have joined I get the following message. Can anyone help please?
"The page you were on is trying to send you to an invalid URL (http:///user/ ).
If you do not want to visit that page, you can return to the previous page." -
From android app, from all notifications list, accessing the first new post notification for a group marks ALL new post notifications for that group as read, even though you haven't opened them.
There is another bug that when you access a new thread from a different route, the new post notification is not marked as read, even though the following comment notifications are.
Don't have time to flesh this out now, but both these bugs have been present for many months. -
On sign up I was told I had to enter a postcode for England even though I live in Australia.
I believe the issue has been resolved with my postcode not being for my town in Australia (Tongala) as it is showing me people that live in the area, however they are showing as being in England, with my location on the map still being Brighton (the postcode that I entered on sign up) -
I have had a reminder on my laptop to update windows 10 - however, I have read somewhere that it has blips in it, and not to update until sorted. So, a) is this true? and b) if so, how will I know when it has been sorted? (My lap top is slow enough already, I can't get my email on my phone, and my tablet is dead!!! - though on verge of buying new tablet, as soon as I can stop self isolating [because of age, not infection] - so I am very reluctant to do anything which exacerbates these problems!) Any advice? At the moment I am keeping my lap top on, so it doesn't automatically update on closing

@ScoopLoopS ---I think in pastime the latest posting is not going to the top. The letter quizzes are buried at the end of the general knowledge quizzes a month ago. --- No wonder no one is taking part looking for them so far back.

invited list into private group not recognised
I have a private group and I recently checked the membership of which there are less than 20 and I then noticed that there were 31 people invited, only one I know and none have been active this year apart from my invited person.
I cannot delete or remove them - I have not provided a screenshot for obvious privacy reasons.
It is the same on all platforms and operating systemsThis discussion is now closed.

some comments on latest change to Notifications
Like most of the changes......much more helpful in dealing with large amount of notifications !
wish the PC version remembered what you last asked for rather than having to ask every time ! (mobile version seems to work ok)
Mobile version now seems to default to displaying posts newest first which I find confusing and can't find any way to put it back to normal !!!
There is an another updating glitch where the notifications are re-displayed correctly marked as 'read' rather than being not displayed......but still trying to confirm exactly when on which device it occurs !!!!
All in all good job so far !! -
Here are 2 screenshot taken 31 seconds apart on my android phone using the Huawei Browser.
The notification shows 😂😂😂 from Charlotte was 18 minutes prior to the screenshot.
The actual entry in the thread is showing as 40 minutes.
One notification and the entry from SueL1 differs by 1 minute.
The notification about Niche's entry isn't there at all.
Would you please have a look at this.
Any thanks,
Derek -
Hello everyone.
Just to let everyone know, we have started to (very slowly) roll out Scooploop down under.
This will probably mean that there might be users from Australia joining some groups (as groups are not bound to regions. like the community news etc).
We are currently experimenting with filtering groups by regional relevance, more on that at a later point.
To our users from the UK: So please do not be surprised if you encounter users from far away, but hey, you might as well make new friends from the other side of the globe.
To user from Australia: Welcome!
Have fun. Stay safe and at home. -
The 'helpfuls' do not show - just get a blank space,
have had this problem before and posted a screenshot and it got sorted, now it is back again,

Reporting any issues (Edited)
Hi all, for future issues that may occur on your Scooploop page, would you kindly provide us with as much detail as possible about the problem, so we can have a clear picture of the outstanding issue. Below are a list of things to provide us that will help us fix the issue:
- take screenshots of the issue(s)
- provide a link to the direct issue
- let us know what device you are using
- let us know if you are using the Scooploop app or desktop browser (and what browser it is)
- video the problem
- If you are using the app, let us know what version of the app you are using.
Providing us with sarcastic comments will result in your post to the back of the fixing queue :-) -
Quick Fixes causing more problems than they fix ?
Hi dunno what causing it or if it's just me but we seem to have lost the red marker that shows which Groups have new posts !! making it just a bit harder to keep on top of the flood of posts in these troubled times !!!......could really do with those unread only and reverse order options !!!!
-
Hi all. So a quick update: few fixes and changes were pushed very recently. Among them:
- changes to notification page (nothing major but hope you find it more useful)
- few fixes on the app (thanks for reporting the bugs)
We also introduced covid-19 feed as you probably noticed. This collects open/public posts that relate to coronavirus. For now this is a very broad feed, we might narrow it down to posts only having hashtags like #coronavirus, so this is a good chance for you to make use of that feature (hashtagging) ;-).
Have a good weekend! -
Update to Notifications page (Edited)
Just wanted to say 'thank you' to the Tech Team.
On the website, you can now mark individual notifications as 'read'.
(See photo.)
Don't know how fresh this is, as I've only had time to use the app for accessing Scooploop recently, but it will certainly help me tackle my unread notifications count of 155!!
(Can we soon have this on the app too, please?) -
Hi all,
we will be running some maintenance works today around midnight and Scooploop might not be available up to one hour.
Thanks -

Wearing leather gloves can make it hard to tap in numbers etc. One solution is to take the lining out. I"ve got an unlined pair and their like a second skin. Cleaned the remote controls with kitchen roll and hand sanitizer and they still work.

Hi all, we have now introduced a new feature that we know some of you have been waiting for…
On private messages, you can now delete your messages for both yourself and the other person. It's a fresh feature so as per usual please report anything bug you may notice. -
Updated Event Section (Edited)
Hello. We have updated our event section and hope it now provides a better overview and makes it easier to find events. Please check it out.

Internal links from posts do not work on the Android App
Recently I created a post, in Tech Heads, giving advice about taking screengrabs. I created another post, in Anything! group, to publicise it, and provided a link from there to the Tech Heads thread.
All that works fine in a web browser, but on the Android app, I cannot follow the link from the Anything post to the Tech Heads post. Tapping the link, nothing happens. For any other website, a browser would open to show the page. Obviously, that is not wanted within the app: you want the app to open the other thread within the app, not in an external browser. But it's not happening.
I cannot remember if I have reported this before, but it is a significant failing.
Here's a link to the Anything thread, which should also serve to demonstrate how following a link works OK on the browser but not in the app!

Tech query: problems viewing videos on Scooploop App
This query was prompted by posts to the Scooptube group...
I usually end up watching the videos posted to Scooploop on my Android mobile. My mobile has a 30-second timeout on the display (if it doesn't detect a touch input), after which the screen locks. Watching a video on the embedded video widget on Scooploop, and after a number of seconds I find the screen fading and then black and locked.
The YouTube app, or its website in a mobile browser, manages to override the timeout, so that videos can be watched uninterrupted.
Is there anything that the Scooploop app can do to inform the device that it should keep the display active while the video is running?
(I know there are at least two workarounds -- poking the screen periodically, or changing the timeout, for instance -- but that's really not the point!) -
Perhaps you should read this post !.... Screen formatting Glitch !
A recent change you've made seems to be causing a few problems !!!

Recently noticed that in the android app when I return to notifications fron a post that notifications is still showing the post as unread!
This doesn't happen ever time, but about 1 in 6 - enough to be annoying, I might have several that "stick" making it frustrating when reopening the same post.
I can clear all posts as read but not selectively.
Also noticed that occasionally a post will fold back on itself so a block of replies will carryover at the end to be reread.
