No I haven't got a new cat but I've spotted one in the garden which I've not seen before, not in the garden or anywhere else. It's a very pale gold colour all over and quite short hair. I've looked at cat breeds on line but can't see anything quite like it. Any ideas what it might be?

IT vacancy at the Co-op Bank! (Edited)
I recently wanted to add a new payee to my bank account, but even though I knew for sure that my security code was correct, it would reject it. I called the help line and held on for 30 mins. I then remembered the advice that I give to others, which is to use a different browser. So, I tried Edge, and it worked okay. Here is my secure message to them, and their reply!'I have just spent ages trying to get my passcode accepted by the dropdown list when adding a new payee. I have discovered that the problem is that the dropdown list does not work in Firefox. Are you aware of this? Edge worked okay.' .
Their reply: .'Thanks for your message. I am sorry to hear this. Our IT team are aware of an issue with security codes. The system will default to putting a '0' into any box that does not contain a number but this will not use the '0' in its place it will show as incorrect. If your code has a 0 in it please make sure to select another number first and then re select the number 0 and this will allow the system to recognise that you have entered the correct information.
Could you also try another browser to rule out this causing an issue as we are aware of a reported problem that Firefox is causing a mismatch for example.' -
UK National Debt Clock (Edited)

Marching on to £2 trillion on the short scale and we still give up to £15 billion in Overseas Aid. We borrow billions just to give away.

Hello, Would really appreciate your help
Hello everyone, I have recently joined this site with the hope of documenting my journey buying a van to convert to a campervan. I was hoping some of you may follow my new page https://www.scooploop.com/pages/campervan please.
I could really use all the advice I can get and would love some of your expertise to help me decide on some of the aspects. I am very inexperienced when it comes to vehicles and have created a poll I would really appreciate you taking part in
Thank you everyone, K -
UK or Russia? (Edited)
"The law locks up the man or woman
Who steals the goose from off the common
But leaves the greater villain loose
Who steals the common from off the goose."
Are we better off in the UK with an elite class ruling us, or has Russia got a much simpler but similar manifesto? -
I'm thinking of changing to a hybrid car and wondered if anyone has one? If so, would you recommend one or have you found any unforeseen issues - and am I likely to lose boot space due to the need to house both a combustion engine and bigger battery. Any comments would be helpful.

What Did You Do In The Plague Daddy?
I heard Elvis McGonagall on the radio this morning and found this 'poem' (it doesn't rhyme).
What Did You Do In The Plague Daddy?
I did not bake sourdough bread
I did not learn Greek or read “Bleak House”
I did not feel the burn doing “bouncing bunnies” with Joe
“The Body Coach” Wicks
I did not sing Bobby McFerrin’s 1988 hit “Don’t Worry Be
Happy” in an a cappella zoom choir
I did not crochet my own crockery while watching Kirstie
Allsopp’s “Keep Crafting and Carry On”
I did not clear out the under-stairs cupboard or the
Augean stables
I did not bake banana bread #nomnom
I did not take up calligraphy
I did not tattoo a rainbow on my forehead
I did not Zumba in the street
I did not put on a puppet show of Marcel Proust’s “A La
Recherche du Temps Perdu”
I did not play be-bop jazz on my mediaeval crumhorn
I did not increase my emotional bandwidth
I did not knit Greek sourdough bread
I did not livestream myself Riverdancing with a sourdough
baguette stuck up my arse in front of my beautiful bookshelf
crammed with important, contemporary literature secretly
chosen for the colour of the books’ spines which when
arranged alphabetically form an exact reproduction of a
Mondrian painting
I did not embark on a journey of self-discovery to un-map my
life and acquire the tools to optimise my spiritual development,
sharing my enhanced consciousness with the world by talking
in an upward inflection
I did not podcast
I drank gin in the garden. In my pyjamas. With the cats

I'm looking to change cleaner as I'm finding it far to heavy to lug upstairs these days. Can anyone recommend a good rechargeable one. I'm not keen on these that are just a stick with a motor but if I thought one was really good then I might reconsider.

The next wave of vaccinations will include the over-50s but surely all of the Emergency Services and Key Workers should be next to have the vaccine.
On the 2nd January 1,300 Metropolitan Police officers off work due to Covid plus the kids will be back in schools from 8 March but HMG is refusing to vaccinate teachers.
I just don't understand why. It makes no sense. -

Restart vs. Shutdown (Edited)
I have posted this issue on the two computer Groups I am a member of.
It is not really a technical issue, but of interest to all PC users of Windows, hence my repeating the post on this Group. -
I am posting this essentially as a general non-tech notification of interest rather than a technical issue. Many users think that Restart and Shutdown are the same thing - they are not.
A desktop PC can be left on Sleep for long periods perfectly satisfactorily. A Restart should be done every 4 -5+ days to clear out accumulated clag. Shutdown is best for laptops to conserve battery life if absent for long periods, otherwise Sleep.
In Windows 10, Shutdown and Restart are very different processes.
Shutdown -
Takes a quick image snapshot of your preferences and settings. On the next boot it will load them exactly as they were. Any problems that you were having, will still be there when you switch the PC back on.
Restart -
Does a whole lot more than Shutdown. Restart will clear the memory, refresh the Kernel and reset the cache. It will complete pending updates. It will fix 1001 problems, whereas Shutdown simply copies them to a piece of memory, so that your problems load quickly back the next time you switch on.
Restart is your friend. -
Vaccine appointments, local area
It's really strange here in Redbridge. Some local people have had their jabs but much older folk are still waiting. There doesn't seem to be one cohesive system that works.
The way I understand it (so far) is that those with health concerns get a text from their GP and book. Those who are fit and well get a letter (or text?) from NHS England.
The online booking system says to wait until you get your 'invite' - yet neighbours have just booked without one and have been accepted - according to date of birth.
There's a local hall where people get their jabs and, apparently, if you 'just turn up' late in the day, you're often successful in getting vaccinated as they have some left over.
It must be easier if you have a car to sit and wait in - but I'm tempted to try that when the snow thaws - if I still haven't heard.

Is anyone else having problems with the way Notifications display?
If I click on Notifications I now see 8 notifications instead of 5. I cannot see the buttons at the bottom of the list and I cannot scroll down.
It looks as though Scooploop are changing things. I have asked if they would change it back. -
I can't seem to see much information re what you should do if you feel you might not be able to have the Pfizer vaccine. I'm a bit concerned about one of my sons having it because when he was younger he had some very bad reactions to different foods and had to go an on a strict exclusion diet. These days he avoids certain foods in case he has a reaction and, even then, still regularly needs piriton because he comes out in spots/hives.
I'm thinking he should really be contacting the Drs and seeing what they advise. Has anyone read anything more specific? -

Had an email from a friend who has lived in Cyprus for the past 10+ years, copying part of it here.
From the word go, Cyprus has grabbed the bull by the horns and reacted very quickly to the pandemic with enforced lockdowns, restrictions and heavy fines for offenders. On a daily basis, I have to fill in and sign and date a government form depicting my reasons every time I am leaving the house. I also have to get an SMS text message from the government. I have to declare my home address and passport number, post code etc before I can leave my house. We are restricted to how many times I can go out in a 24 hour period. It was once a day but they have now extended it to two. I have been stopped by the police three times checking my paperwork. All restaurants tavernas etc are closed. It is annoying and disruptive but I live with it. -
SHINE
Each day you shine
When you stretch and rise
You breathe new life
The greatest prize
For some it is done
The heart beats no more
And a loved one sobs
For what came before
This life is a blessing
Cherish each day
Live for the moment
Don't wish it away
Turn your collar to the wind
Laugh in the rain
Grasp this moment
It won't happen again
You are unique
One of a kind
Unpack lifes baggage
Just leave it behind
We are all beautiful
So please never forget
Each moment we waste
We will someday regret
The day you were born
The stars did align
One way or another
You are here to shine

What happens to people not contacted for vaccination?
I am in category 3 and my friends in category 4 had been vaccinated and given an appointment for their second vaccination. I was dutifully waiting to be contacted, as we are all instructed, but just a bit concerned as it was the trust, not the surgery, who contacted my husband in category 1. He had his first vaccination on December 31st but was not given a second date. My son persuaded me to ring the surgery to check I was on the list
I was a bit reluctant, as I have had two run-ins with the practice manager, recently ((the first time, she criticised a dr who had been incredibly helpful on the phone, saying the dr had given me the wrong advice, and she was going to make an official complaint and insist the dr apologise to me! I said I didn't need an apology, that the paramedics present and the dr on the phone had been helpful - in fact, I was so concerned about this lovely, new doctor I wrote her a personal letter of thanks, without mentioning the practice manager's involvement. The second time, I was told I shouldn't be with the practice as I was the wrong postcode - and why hadn't I changed dr when we moved house. I explained we registered 40 years ago when we moved to Essex. She said I shouldn't be with them, and would have to change, eventually. I was upset and cross but decided to ignore it)
Anyway, I plucked up courage this morning, got through and explained, and asked if it was possible to check if I was on the list. The receptionist just checked name and date of birth and offered me an appointment at 8.15 on Sunday morning at a heath clinic in the town. I was just expecting to be told I was or wasn't on the list. But basically we are told not to ask ......
Also, wondering whether to complain nicely about practice manager as if it has made me reluctant to phone, and I am fairly resilient, and have worked for an NHS Deanery in the past, then how do people feel who are less confidant than I am - it becomes a matter of health and safety if people are put off contacting their gp practice.
Apologies for lengthy post, but any thoughts? -

This festa started in early 19th century. (Edited)
Even during the war but last year was the first time the village could not celebrate their Saints day. We collect petals and make designs all through the one road in the village. My sister in law lives there ( she paid £12,000 for a 3 bedroom now 3 bathroom house) and my husband’s friends live there too. Then my cousin from Switzerland bought a home. . We take friends to help us with the petal picking.

Over the last few days I have heard lots of colleagues who have taken the steps to book a holiday abroad for this summer.
I asked one why and her reply was that she needed something positive to look forward to and wanted to be optimistic.
I fully understand this, the yearning to do something nice and have some normality. I myself wouldn’t risk booking a holiday. Not just because of lockdowns etc but because I think I would still be wary of being on a plane etc with the virus.
So , my question to you all is...
Have you booked? Where have you booked? If so, what tipped your decision to booking this soon? -
A national census is taken every 10 years in the Uk. The next will be on 21st March 2021. There will be many questions asked that have never been asked before. Further information can be found at: census.gov.uk

It has been annouced the British Athletics Indoor Championships is cancelled and a number of music festivals have been cancelled.
Do you think the 2021 Tokyo Olympics will go ahead?
I like to watch the British Athletics. Will you miss watching any of the events? -
I've just seen a post on FB from a clinic offering free spine checks this Saturday. They are asking people to book up and go to the clinic. We are only supposed to be going out if absolutely necessary. Unless you're in dreadful pain and can't get any help I can't see it's necessary right at this moment.

Why am I not surprised? One dose vaccination strategy in doubt
As soon as the delay of second doses was announced, I was instantly suspicious that it was more of a political decision, a panic reaction - than a carefully considered medical strategy.
Of course, here in the UK we're high up in the race to get our population vaccinated, or that's what it looks like. Still, we're an experiment (lab rats?) with the rest of the world watching.
Will it work or won't it? Will the 'vaccinated' - half-vaccinated with a single dose, feel 'safe', believe the problem's solved and abandon social distancing, masks and hand washing? Will they mix with friends and family? Will they catch Covid? What are the outcomes for the 'first dose only' victims?
