Since SL has come back online this afternoon, I can't log in Edge/Windows10. I can get in using Firefox but that is not my preferred browser. I've shut the browser and re-booted the pc but to no avail.

Suddenly I've stopped getting any email notifications of new posts - haven't changed anything. Anyone else getting this problem or suggestions for how to rectify the problem please?

Help needed, please. I usually get all Scooploop notifications via email throughout the day. For the past two days have received nothing and it's necessary to go into the 'bell' notification where I can see some of the postings but they are all over the place timewise (which is normal here) and I need to go into the one post left on email in order to access the bell notifications.

I have changed nothing in 'Settings' and have checked to make sure it is still 'daily'. I have posted this in Technical support (?) but it seems that takes a while and in the meantime getting nothing at all on tablet as I no longer have a Scooploop posting in emails so getting very frustrated with it all! Many thanks.

There are well over 30 of these loops on SL, many of them "Locksmith" loops.

What purpose do all these loops. most with only 2 members serve on an indigenous social forum like SL ?

From someone who never posted, I am getting into my stride because of the new Carers loop.
However I am confused by the 'reactions' and 'like' facility buttons and need a simple explanation as to how it works. I have been too scared to just try as I don't want to inadvertently send the wrong message to anyone. Where can I find simple basic help on this please? Thank you

A recent conversation on Scooploop was concerning someone who felt they could not continue with their groups because of caring responsibilities for their wife.
This resonated with me as I am a carer for my husband and use reading comments on Scooploop as a relaxation for all the duties now falling on me.
I wonder if there are other carers in our community that might benefit from a Carer's loop?
I am not sure I have the time or competence to start this myself but am putting this out there as an idea.
Could it be helpful to share advice or just chat, knowing others understood the issues we face?
Perhaps responses to this might indicate if a separate loop could be helpful. Thank you for reading this.

I notice that comments from people do not have the miles distance next to them anymore.
Also at the bottom of a thread there is no 'back to loop' option anymore.

I have long been confused by this - and it appears I am not the only one. Is it for down-voting the poster or down-voting the context of the post. It seems that people use it for various reasons and not always the same. In the past I have used it because I'm unhappy about the context (therefore agreeing with the poster if they are too) then changed vote to something different as it looked as though I was anti the poster.

Would very much appreciate clarification on this. I think it can cause unpleasantness where not intended. At least with the anonymous down-vote one's feelings were clear whereas this can be very much either way. I personally feel it was a mistake getting rid of it (but keeping the anon. upvote) should be both or nothing, can't see the point otherwise.

Recently I have noticed an increase in a few members making false accusations about other Scooploop users. One has accused me of wanting to “beat him up” because I said I would like to meet him. I have personally met several members and every time we have enjoyed each other’s company.
Another member, Jenny Smith is being lied about and bullied by the same person who childishly refers to her as IT. .
This childish behaviour is not only bringing Scooploop in to disrepute but many, mostly females have now stopped posting.
My solution in attempting to make Scooploop the great site it was and should be is to suspend any member caught lying or bullying for one week for offence and double that every time they commit another misdemeanour.

I do find it hard to read unpleasantness and personal insults . Many of my friends have left or no longer post. I wonder how long Scooploop will last as a friendly forum.

There could be so much nice stuff on SL but even the most innocent threads are being derailed and it is killing the whole thing.

Political differences are one thing but must so many threads just become slanging matches? There isn’t any reason to call people you disagree with idiots, gibbons, buffoons, stupid, uninformed, witches, or anything else derogatory.

There’s certainly no place for threats of violence. And no place for abusive pms. Take it up with SL.

There’s also no point in referring to pms, however nasty in a thread, as no one can make any sense of what’s gone on.

Some posts are deliberately designed to provoke and are probably best ignored.

I would just like to give a compliment to scoop instead of a complaint lol.

Hello there. "Dark Mode" is now avaiable on desktop and mobile browsers for those of you you like to read Scooploop in the dark or just prefer a darker theme. There may still be one or two flaws in it, but enjoy.

Why can't I click on to see all members that are in my group anymore. I don't accept businesses or other Countries wanting to join and used to find this easy to remove those from the list?

This has happened a couple of times - I've deleted a comment and posts after get deleted too, has just happened again.

I seem no longer have the ability to 'follow' on an opening post without going to the dots to the right and ticking 'follow discussion' there. A bit of a faff.

Hello everyone.

There have been a couple of questions regarding the difference between "removing" and "suspending" loop members by loop moderators.

To clarify the difference:

- "suspending" a loop member can be reversed (by using "unsuspend user") , it is thought for loop members who violate loop guidelines but might be allowed to post in the loop in the future.

- "removed" is forever. This should/can be used by moderators who want to remove a loop member who is involved in off-topic-spam or is so abusive you do not want to be bothered in the future. The "removed" status can not be reversed by loop mods.

We have - in rare cases - changed the "removed" status to "suspended" where it was used by mistake and mods have asked for help, but it's not something the SL Team does on a regular basis.

Hi scoop, just wondering if you could confirm something for me. If I send someone a PM forwarding messages to someone, the recipient will get the PM from MY name and not the forwarded messages name . Am I seeing this right?

What is an 'open' loop ?
I thought it meant anyone could join but on trying one it said you have to be accepted by a moderator.

Private, Limited and Hidden loops

To have these loops on a public chat forum is extremely anti-social and against friendly integration and member relationship. The presence of these loops is offensive to most ordinary forum members.

The formation of a restricted topic specific loop is more than adequate. How the moderator then determines the valid interest level of an applicant to join is beyond belief.

I propose that Private and Hidden loops be discontinued and just retain Limited where the moderator can limit entrance to those applicants he/she feels justified. The loop heading would make it obvious what topic the loop deals with.

Look how successful the Marcus Rashford's, campaign "Feeding Britain's Children" to tackle child food poverty, has been and how much he achieved by using only the press, media and internet. Is this the way forward?
Is it time we all started to move with the times and use more modern methods to achieve our goals?

Nationwide fuel shortages have gripped the nation this past week and sent many of us on a frenzied drive-by search for a petrol station that isn’t closed.

Statements have been issued by certain suppliers, such as BP, saying; ‘There are no fuel shortages in the UK. However, due to panic buying a third of our stations are now left empty.’’ Although released to calm the nation it does raise the question as to how, if there are no shortages, we have ended up in this situation.

One suggested theory is that it may be caused by Boris Johnson’s extreme interpretation of Brexit: the introduction of hard trade barriers coupled with the restrictions now in place for European workers.

Another thought is that the current issues are an after-effect, following the global pandemic.

What is most likely is that a mixture of these two causes have resulted in our current shortages.

And these shortages are not only limited to fuel supplies; there have been supermarket shelves appearing emptier and energy prices soaring due to unusually low gas supplies. The spike in natural gas and electricity costs has been driven partly by a cold start to the year, with a chillier-than-average Spring. And soaring energy prices are also a problem across Europe. However it seems that the problem is most acute in the UK due to a lack of large natural gas storage facilities and delayed maintenance work.

What are your thoughts on the reasoning behind our current shortages? Are they simply unfortunately-timed and unrelated issues, or are they all owing to the same cause?

I wanted to post a new thread to local but have to choose which area loop, I want it to go into all of the ones I am in as it is relevant to all but there seems no way of doing this.
