My 2 year old Grandson has been very unwell with a temp and sore throat. He developed a rash yesterday morning. My daughter couldn't get an appt so rang 111. When they contacted her they just said give calpol. Because ,as a mum she knew him well and was worried she took him to a & e yesterday, only to be told that as he wasn't crying and was watching the TV he was fine and it was just a virus. My daughter Insisted it was more serious but was sent home being made to feel she was a silly young mum making a fuss and wasting time. He woke up this morning with the rash worse, temp higher and a strawberry tongue, all symptoms of scarlet fever. She rang 111 they said a GP would ring in approx 12 hours and to give him antihistamines. They said it sounds like scarlet fever but the gp needs to ring her before antibiotics are given. I wish hospitals and GPs would listen to mums concerns seriously.Mums sometimes really do know best -

Fun Fact- One of the Christmas traditions in Philippines has them start their Christmas preparations during September. Called the âBer Monthsâ, Filipinos get their Christmas spirits on at the start of September, and the celebrations run till the first Sunday of January when they celebrate the Feast of the Three Kings and end the celebrations. I think I will move there ;) -

Evening Scoop. Sometimes we may want to close a discussion we created, I don't mean because of trouble , but maybe the thread has grown far too long and is cumbersome. I'm aware that mods can have the loop settings allowing people to close their own threads or not, I understand the logic. I'm just wondering if, when we wish to close a long thread, we could have an option on the 3 dots (where delete post etc is) that says something like "request thread is closed by moderator" that can then be sent to the mod to indicate we wish to close it,? Not sure it is even possible. Have a good evening x -

I watched this last night and I can honestly say that for a true story it has more twists and turns than a book of fiction. When a young woman is found dead on the highway, police try to build a picture of what happened. Some parts truly shocked me, made me shed some tears and made me feel so sad for a lot of the people involved. -

The mum who killed Baby P has been freed today after the parole board decided she wasn't a threat, even though Dominic Raab argued it was wrong to let a violent killer out so soon. 7 years for horrifically torturing and killing your son is a joke. People get longer for robberies. Now we will be financing her to live in a bail hostel and then a home while she lives the life her baby will never get to have . -

Have you got an emergency plan in place is, as a carer for someone, you become unwell or have an accident? Being the lone carer for someone means there isn't always someone to contact in an emergency. This is why Carers UK encourage carers to have a written plan. For example, I you care for someone with Dementia and you suddenly become unwell, your loved one would probably have to be put Into respite care as a temp measure instead of someone contacting a trusted friend or family member. If you are unconscious you may not even be able to voice the fact you are the sole carer of a loved one. The link below takes you through the steps of setting up an emergency plan, or your local Carers UK can help you https://carersdigital.org/mybackup/ -

https://www.politics.co.uk/news-in-brief/300-million-new-funding-to-cut-frightening-levels-of-youth-crime/ The government says this could include mentoring, extra school tuition, sports clubs, help to address any issues at school or at home, with their mental health or with substance misuse, tackling the root causes of their behaviour and helping them to get their lives back on track. -

I often by own brand Shopping, the one thing I will never swap is tinned spaghetti! I love it on toast but it has to be Heinz. -

My heart hurt after reading the story of a 12 year old girl who killed her 14 year old cousin by accident whilst messing around with a gun on an Instagram live stream in a bathroom at a relatives party, then seemingly shot herself. Two young lives lost forever.Cops called it murder/suicide whilst relative insist it was an accident. The video is widely circulating. Should videos like these be allowed to be kept online? Should gun laws be changed or would it have made no difference? https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2022/03/28/missouri-girl-fatally-shoots-cousin-and-herself-on-instagram-live-16359773/amp/ -

I lost my beautiful staffy Flash 3 weeks ago suddenly. Those of you who have lost pets know the pain. I was part of a staffy group on FB, one of the members sent me a link to their offshoot group on senior staffies over the rainbow bridge. I posted about my boy and put up a photo, within a day I had 300 fellow staffy owners send me messages of support. I looked back over previous posts and there isn't one cross word in the whole thing, just an outpouring of sympathy and support for those who are struggling with losing a beloved pet. A safe place to talk about how you are feeling and a place to remember our lost pets. Sometimes we forget there is a positive side to social media -

Just caught up and watched this. It really brings home how bad some people were hit by covid and how very lucky most of us were. I feel lucky just to have minor lung scarring after watching this programme. My best wishes go out to all of the families who are going through the long term impact of it xx -

I was lucky enough to get to see Dad yesterday in his dementia nursing home. We weren't sure if they had relaxed any rules but happily they are still very careful. The visit includes: Standing outside and doing a LFT before being able to sign for the visit Walking outside to the conservatory that had been washed down and prepped , we are not allowed into ANY parts of the care home other than this so do not come into contact with anyone. Visit undertaken with gloves, masks and aprons Going out the same way so as not to see anyone from the home. They are being very careful which I am totally grateful for!
