      Making a Will

I was told recently that you can now make your own Will online and submit it to a Solicitor for checking. I think it would be ok if you just wanted to leave everything to a partner and don't have children etc but any more complicated than that and I'd rather get it done professionally. I made my years ago with a local solicitor.

      Thoughts everyone?

A mans thoughts on sexual harassment copied from FB.

Ok, I’m not usually one for going off on long rants on facebook but let’s face it, most of us have got more time on our hands than usual at the mo.

I’ll caveat this rant with…yeah I know I’m shouting into an echo chamber of mainly lovely, cuddly, like minded friends who don't need to hear my patronising waffle, but this is for the few that might. It’s probably not for YOU, YOU are probably ace.

I’ve also tried to keep it light and thrown in a few 90’s references ‘for the Dads’.

      So. Let’s kick it.

      Men! Hello. How you doooin’?

It just seems that a few of you having been losing the plot a bit on Twitter.

Following the awful murder of Sarah Everard, women started sharing their stories of street harassment on Twitter.

How did us chaps respond? We made #notallmen as the number one Twitter trend. FFS.

If you’re reading women’s posts about harassment, maybe try being like Mr Ice here.

      Stop, Collaborate and Listen.

Before you jump in with a #Notallmen or Men get harassed too. Maybe ask yourself a few questions.

How often have you walked past a building site and had a group of female builders shout ‘nice ballbag!’?

How often do women stop you on your way to work to tell you’d look more handsome if you smiled at them? Or just screamed ‘show us yer dick’ across the road at you?

When you were walking home from school, how often did women in cars comment on your ‘sexy shorts’?

When it’s hot in your office, do you still keep your top shirt button done up, worried that the women might say that you’re gagging for it by flashing a bit of moob?

How often do you scan the crowd on the packed train to work, just to check that you’re not standing near one of those women who wants to rub her fanny against you, again?

I’m guessing that most of your answers were probably No’s.

So before you hit the reply button on a woman’s tweet, stop (Hammertime) and just assume that WOMEN KNOW IT’S #notallmen.

      That’s just statistically obvious.

But there’s enough of us doing this shit for it to be a problem.

Yes, men get harassed too. Women know this too.

I can tell the tales of how I’ve had abuse hurled at me for the way I dressed (back in the goth days) or how I was mugged at night for my wallet and phone, or how many drivers of black cabs & white vans have greeted me with a cheery yell of “you fat c**t!”

But, guess what…re-e-wind…shocker…none of those abuses were from women! It was all men.

Fellas, you might reply with a well-intentioned ‘we get harassed too’ to show support or to empathise but, come on, that’s like hearing a woman complain about how much she spends on Tampax in a lifetime and us saying, “yeah, I know how you feel babe, I cut my finger last week and it cost me two quid for a box of plasters”. It’s just not on the same scale.

We (#notall) chaps can still generally go about our days blissfully unworried about the threat that women (#notallwomen) might pose to us.

If we’re in a pub (#notallpubs) and we have to go for a pee, we leave our drinks on the table, never thinking that a woman might slip some rohypnol in it.

We can get drunk at the house party afterwards, never worrying that if we crash out in the spare room, a woman might sneak in and pop a finger in us while we’re asleep and if she did, we might get blamed for it happening because we’d drunk too much.

We don’t tell men that in the summer that their vest & shorts combo makes them ‘look a bit slutty’, so they should expect to get hassled. Or not to ‘flaunt your curves’ in those skinny jeans.

We don’t say to men “You can’t go topless on the beach, it’s obscene and women won’t be able to control their natural urge to attack you”.

We don’t tell men not to walk across Clapham Common at night in case a woman, twice their strength, might leap out and try to murder them.

So come on men (#yesall), let’s ‘Man Up’ (#yesiknowthatsashitphrase) and admit that it’s us that’s causing this problem, not that women aren’t doing enough to stay safe.

      Clots and Jabs.

If a health warning is needed:-

"One in four people worldwide are dying from conditions caused by thrombosis, making it a leading global cause of death and disability. When a blood clot forms in an artery or vein, it can lead to heart attack, stroke, or a life-threatening clot in the lungs or leg."

Actually it's puzzling that the EU countries have discovered so few cases that coincide with having a flu jab.

Another bloody Scam.(Copied from a FB group)

A new scam method people should be aware of.
Two-Factor authorisation is the process of requiring secondary authorisation to make a key change such as password or bank details. Banks and other organisations will send a code to an email address or telephone to ensure the genuine user is aware of the change, but fraudsters have identified ways to beat this process.

Fraudsters have been contacting fraud victims purporting to be from the bank/organisation, they state that to verify the call and pass through the security process they will send a 2FA code to the victim.

At the same time, they go through the password reset / bank change process, which automatically sends the code through. They then ask the victim to read the code back to verify their identity, which they can input to the system and bypass the control.

TLDR: NEVER ever give out your password or a 2FA code over email or the telephone.

      The Deaths Don’t Add Up

This article was on Peter Hitchens’ page in the Mail on Sunday yesterday.
This is not the first time I have heard that deaths have been recorded as due to COVID-19 when it was thought they were due to other causes.

It was claimed in another post that this ‘Government’ is doing a good job. No doubt, that’s what they want you to think. Could it be that a higher reported death rate from COVID-19 helps to justify the panic measures that resulted in the first lockdown and diverts attention from other activities or inactivity?

I'm so pleased she has gone!

Once the hoo-ha is over and Megan Markle has climbed back into her box, will we ever hear from or about her again?

She's going for broke today to try to destroy the family she thought was her gravy train. Unfortunately she didn't get what she thought she should have got. Her aim to be a real American Princess wasn't on the cards, so she's gone to the Queen of America to complain.

As I understand it the Queen of Strop will be asked by her best friend to spill the beans on how brilliantly she managed to bully her Royal staff and get rid of people for no real reason.
Oops! I'm just getting a message that she won't be asked that after all!
Perhaps she will be asked about the joke where Harry is being asked in an interview "Do you feel dominated by your wife?" to which she responds, "No he doesn't".
No, I'm informed that one won't be asked eiither.

Well, I guess that whatever happens, her Royal Duchessness won't be welcomed back by her husband's family and hopefully this will be the last time we hear from her.

      Have a Banana

The greener the banana is, the greater the content of resistant starch. Resistant starch has been linked to several health benefits :

Bananas are a good source of several nutrients, including potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C and fibre. They also contain various antioxidants and plant compounds.

Bananas are high in fibre. Unripe bananas are also rich in resistant starch and pectin, which can provide numerous health benefits.

Taking 24 grams of banana starch each day for 4 weeks caused weight loss of 2.6 lbs (1.2 kg), while also improving insulin sensitivity in patients studied.

Bananas are high in potassium, which helps to lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Bananas are a good source of magnesium, a mineral that plays hundreds of roles in the body. Magnesium may protect against heart disease and Type 2 diabetes.

Unripe, green bananas are rich in resistant starch and pectin, which may promote digestive health and reduce the risk of colon cancer.

Eating a moderate amount of bananas should not raise blood sugar levels significantly. However, diabetics should be careful with fully ripe bananas.

Bananas don't seem to have any known negative health effects, but they may cause allergic reactions in some individuals with latex allergy.

Although bananas are unsuitable on a low-carb diet and may cause problems for some diabetics, overall they are an incredibly healthy food.

      Bigfoot (Edited)

Bigfoot sightings go back to the 1800's.

Bigfoot attention has been intense over the past 50 years. There have been countless expeditions by scientific groups, many thousands of sightings, hundreds of foot casts and photographs taken and even scientific and laboratory studies involved. Most of the activity we see on TV is of North American origin, but countless similar sightings and expeditions have also been made in Russia and Asia.

Oddly enough, I have never come across any reports of Bigfoot activity in South America and Africa.

I have been recently watching two TV programs on Bigfoot and find them very plausible, interesting and very well compiled.

Confronted with all the "evidence" accumulated, one can only be left open minded to conclude that such creatures may well exist in the vast uninhabited areas of our planet.

Over the past 50 years, science and technology have made enormous advances.
I am therefore left in total confusion.

As no definite DNA evidence has been found, no dead bodies or remains of these creatures have been found, none of these creatures have been shot by the countless thousands of trigger-happy hunters who shoot anything that moves and no close-up photographs have ever been taken - only long distant shots - the creature cannot possibly exist.

Over a 50 year period, I find the absence of these factors far outstrip the enormous amount of "evidence" found to conclude that these creatures do exist.

A Dogs Plea to God (Edited)

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc. just because I like the way they smell.
The litter box is not a cookie jar.
The sofa is not a ”face towel.”
The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello.
I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house - not after.
I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt on the carpet.
I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.
The cat is not a squeaky toy so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it's usually not a good thing.
P.S. Dear God: When I get to Heaven may I have my testicles back?

      TV - Background Noise

For a very long time now Documentaries have been plagued by irresponsible program producers implanting over-loud noise on all programs where people are talking.

The noise is usually created by abusing musical instruments to such a degree that it is difficult to hear what the people are saying. Incredibly bad manners on the part of the producers.

There is no need for this irresponsible behaviour and complete disregard for viewers pleasure. Sometimes this infernal din is coupled with loud noises on the film clips, it is then utterly impossible to hear what the presenter or person is saying.

Often, the person talking is simply sat in a room and why some idiot should spoil their speaking with some instrument or other noise is beyond comprehension.

The age of silent films where some guy went mad on a piano to create a sense of excitement are long gone. But who needs excitement when the person is sat in a quiet room talking ?

Oddly enough, I have never noticed this infernal row being made when the news is on or when the Queen or Prime Minister are giving a speech.

Where program producers get the idea that when people are talking, their voice must be completely obliterated by some unbelievable racket performed by abusing a variety of musical instruments or some other noise, I will never ever understand.

People who have hearing problems simply cannot hear what is being said. Many battle scenes where the sounds of battle are loud enough, are still inflicted with background noise by the producers.

Do you have this irritating problem ?

Supernatural or Super Fictional ? (Edited)

Supernatural, Paranormal, Ouija boards, Mediums, Fortune Tellers, Ghosts, Poltergeists, Evil Spirits, God`s, Devil`s and Demon`s, plus things that go bump in the night

The human brain is Schizophrenic, being capable of astonishing and miraculous abilities in creating man-made marvels whilst on the other hand believing passionately in what can only be described as Fairy Stories. It is incredible to see such split intelligence taking place in abundance all around us regardless of extreme educational and scientific progression.

I guess that it is due to a genetic inheritance situation, going back to when Homo Sapiens split off from the Apes in the evolutionary family tree and developed a separate intelligence.

In those prehistoric times, humans believed that all of life`s events were due to Gods and Goblins. So entered the idols and other effigies of earthly worship to provide a focal point for this homage.

It was and still is today, thought that humans are somehow special creatures and could never really die. So the concept of eternally surviving Spirits and Souls was introduced, destined to be transported to some divine paradise of infinite pleasure where all ills are banned.

Consequently, any tendency of humans to sense that Ghosts or Spirits were about, although being due to our natural inbred inclination to get the spooks at times was attributed to restless Spirits or some evil presence. So was born the fictional mind-conceived idea of Ghosts, Supernatural and the Paranormal. Subjects which a vast army of gullible humans still solidly believe today and even devote their entire working lives to with total commitment.

Everything that happens in a terrestrial or extra-terrestrial sense has a perfectly logical scientific explanation. Many of these events are currently not understood, in which case they are simply "unexplained" and must NOT put down to some Alien or Supernatural activity as was the practise of our pre-historic ancestors.

I have given my views and now await your views. Hopefully we will each respect the others.

Supernatural or Super Fictional ? What is your opinion ?

I'd like to be able to do factory resets on them so that I can put them back into use but the iPhone 5c won't let me do this without the passcode and both phones won't let me do this without the original owner's Apple ID.

Unfortunately she can't remember the passcode or her Apple ID so at the moment they're effectively dead.

Is there any way to to a factory reset on these phones without the codes?

      NHS OutsideClinic (Edited)

Due to the COVID situation, the NHS have sent a circular round offering home eye and hearing tests for those people who cannot attend an Eye or Hearing Clinic. It is an impressive letter stating the extreme precautions that the visiting Optician or hearing specialist will take.
      They give a phone number - 0800 954 9091 and a website - outsideclinic.co.uk
