Possibly illegal dog next door
My elderly next-door neighbour just whispered to me over the fence about the outsized puppy that her resident grandson has been given, supposedly an XX American bulldog. If that's a type of pit bull terrier, which sounds extremely likely, then it would be illegal, cf https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/banned-dogs.
My neighbour said that I should report it to the police if I were worried about it but it sounds more as if she's scared to have it around. I've seen the creature once and it looks adult-sized - more than knee-high to an adult and very hefty - but it's only 4 months old.
One doesn't need to wait until the dog attacks someone to call the police, fortunately. But I've never done this and have no idea what to expect. Has anyone else ever been involved in reporting a suspected illegal dog which hasn't already (to their knowledge) attacked anyone?

Starmer's Beer and Curry meal was planned in advance
Breaking news... This is going to be in tomorrows Mail on Sunday.... a leaked memo from the Labour Party shows that "beers with Kier" wasn't an impromptu event, but pre-planned. And all this after he demanded Boris resign over the Downing street parties.

This is the last of a series of articles produced for UK savers and investors, but it's probably far the most useful one because it covers what's already available free, although not well enough known.

AWKWARD BRITISH PROBLEMS:
🇬🇧Staring at your phone in silent horror until the unknown number stops ringing
🇬🇧Hearing a recording of your own voice and deciding it’s perhaps best never to speak again
🇬🇧The relief when someone doesn’t answer their phone within three rings and you can hang up
🇬🇧Filming an entire fireworks display on your phone, knowing full well you’ll never, ever watch it again
🇬🇧 Mishearing somebody’s name on the second time of asking, meaning you must now avoid them forever
🇬🇧 Leaving it too late to correct someone, meaning you must live with your new name forever
🇬🇧 Running out of ways to say thanks when a succession of doors are held for you, having already deployed ‘cheers’, ‘ta’ and ‘nice one’
🇬🇧 Changing from ‘kind regards’ to just ‘regards’, to indicate that you’re rapidly reaching the end of your tether
🇬🇧 Realising you’ve got about fifty grand’s worth of plastic bags under your kitchen sink
🇬🇧"You’ll have to excuse the mess” – Translation: I’ve spent seven hours tidying in preparation for your visit
🇬🇧 Indicating that you want the last roast potato by trying to force everyone else to take it
🇬🇧 "I’m off to bed” – Translation: “I’m off to stare at my phone in another part of the house”
🇬🇧 The overwhelming sorrow of finding a cup of tea you forgot about
🇬🇧 Turning down a cup of tea for no reason and instantly knowing you’ve made a terrible, terrible mistake
🇬🇧 Suddenly remembering your tea and necking it like a massive, lukewarm shot
🇬🇧 Waiting for permission to leave after paying for something with the exact change
🇬🇧 Saying hello to a friend in the supermarket, then creeping around like a burglar to avoid seeing them again
🇬🇧 Watching with quiet sorrow as you receive a different haircut to the one you requested
🇬🇧 Being unable to pay for something with the exact change without saying “I think that’s right”
🇬🇧 Overtaking someone on foot and having to keep up the uncomfortably fast pace until safely over the horizon
🇬🇧 Being unable to turn and walk in the opposite direction without first taking out your phone and frowning at it
🇬🇧 Deeming it necessary to do a little jog over zebra crossings, while throwing in an apologetic mini wave
🇬🇧 Punishing people who don’t say thank you by saying “you’re welcome” as quietly as possible
🇬🇧 Loudly tapping your fingers at the cashpoint, to assure the queue that you’ve asked for money and the wait is out of your hands
🇬🇧 Looking away so violently as someone nearby enters their PIN that you accidentally dislocate your neck
🇬🇧 Being sure to start touching your bag 15 minutes before your station, so the person in the aisle seat is fully prepared for your exit
🇬🇧 Repeatedly pressing the door button on the train before it’s illuminated, to assure your fellow commuters you have the situation in hand
🇬🇧 Having someone sit next to you on the train, meaning you’ll have to eat your crisps at home
🇬🇧 The huge sense of relief after your perfectly valid train ticket is accepted by the inspector
🇬🇧 The horror of someone you only half know saying: “Oh I’m getting that train too”
🇬🇧 “Sorry, is anyone sitting here?” – Translation: Unless this is a person who looks remarkably like a bag, I suggest you move it
🇬🇧 Worrying you’ve accidentally packed 3 kilos of cocaine and a dead goat as you stroll through “Nothing to declare”
🇬🇧 Being unable to stand and leave without first saying “right”
🇬🇧 Not hearing someone for the third time, so just laughing and hoping for the best

I cannot believe I have just read that Jay Blade has received an MBE - how utterly ridiculous. He's just a sprayer (as I've said before) of spray paint with so little talent. I love watching the Repair Shop but it's ruined for me by him doing zilch other than a little ironing of new material or - and only once have I seen this happen - putting some nails into the back of a cabinet. The Repair Shop is loved by all but he's not the reason, fgs. I'm truly shocked.
No, I have never met him and have no wish to be called either judgmental or critical because that is how I feel about him.

Clearing rubbish from the garages
Had enough scrap metal for two of the dealers that drive slowly around the streets.
The major problem I have to deal wish is a whole load of vulcanised rubber electricity cabling. After I had cut it into pieces it filled 10 black bin bags. I put it outside with the domestic rubbish for collection but the jobsworth binmen cut the bags open to look inside and refused to take them. Even after I tried to bribe them with £20.
So now it looks like I will have to get rid of it gradually by mixing them with the household waste.

Saving Electricity Follow Up. (Edited)
Three months ago I posted, among much derision, about an electricity "saving" device, and promised that I would report back on the results, good or bad, so below I show the figures for the three months, compared to the history.
The data from which these figures are derived is as follows.
I have 21 years of actual total annual usage and 7 years of monthly readings. From these I calculate my annual budget based on the 21 year average compared to the running mean for the last 3 years to ensure that any late trends, if any, are considered.
I believe that this method creates a good estimate since in the last 6 years the difference between my estimate and the actual has never been greater than +/- 2.5%, and always more accurate than my suppliers figure.
For the period under review, Feb- Apr, the results are as follows:-
Year 2022 Estimated usage 1,388 kWh
Year 2022 Actual usage 1,032 " -25.6%
Year 2021 Actual usage 1,188 " - 13.1%
6 year Average actual usage 1,324 " -22.1%
I offer no comment on these results, it is for each member to draw their on conclusion, but IF these figures are true and continue, using the 6 year average as a basis at my present rate of 18.95p kWh I will save £205 a year, as to that we shall see.

Hi
I want to buy a compost bin and I’m considering the drum type – on a stand which you rotate every couple of days to mix the compost.
It would be by a south facing wall and as most of them are made of black plastic it would get quite warm which should speed up the composting process.
Do any of you have any experience with that type of compost drum?
Is there anything I should know about them?
They’re claimed to be must faster at making compost but is that true?
Can you recommend any particular brands or suppliers? – I’d like to get a fairly large one.
I’ve seen articles that suggest putting a small amount of garden soil or mature compost in with the kitchen waste and so on to help introduce the bacteria and other microorganisms that help to rot the compost down. Do any of you know if that helps.
TIA

You may recall in another post the NHA party ( National Health Action Party for the majority that don't know of them) was mentioned, all 5 of them.
I have had a leaflet through the door to tell me that the co-leader of the party is standing in our local election.
He is a Dr. Alastair Fischer who must be desperate to win some sort of election if he is reduced this lowly level, or perhaps just another nut case.

Putin ‘Will Have Cancer Operation’ Soon And Will ‘Hand Over Power’
Vladimir Putin may be forced to give up control of the war in Ukraine for days as he is set for cancer surgery, a ‘Kremlin insider’ has claimed.
The Russian dictator will reportedly nominate hardline Security Council head and ex-FSB chief Nikolai Patrushev to take control of the invasion while he is incapacitated.
Shadowy Patrushev, 70, is seen as a key architect of the war strategy so far – and the man who convinced Putin that Kyiv is awash with neo-Nazis.

ISS Under Threat by Russian Space Agency of being Abandoned
https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/1602809/russia-news-space-threatens-abandon-nasa-iss-china-space-mission-moon-base
I never knew that China were so scientifically advanced as to send astronauts and material into space and construct a space station.
Tiangong is a space station that the Chinese Manned Space Agency (CMSA) is building in low Earth orbit. In May 2021, China launched Tianhe, the first of the orbiting space station's three modules, and the country aims to finish building the station by the end of 2022. CMSA hopes to keep Tiangong inhabited continuously by three astronauts for at least a decade. The space station will host many experiments from both China and other countries.
