As it's getting near to the end of the year you may be thinking about getting a diary for next year.
Before to buy one you might want to have a look at the Philofaxy web page
https://philofaxy.blogspot.com
They have a range of diaries, year planners and other organiser pages in a variety of styles and file formats.
I'm a luddite and I like a printed diary to scribble appointments and so on in. So I download the one week per page version and print it out in A5 double sided booklet mode. It works out a lot cheaper than buying a diary -

What does throwing soup at a painting....
have to do with climate change?
That is the latest idiotic stunt by those Just Stop Oil nutters.
Someone needs to tell them climatic conditions change all the time but there is no evidence of climate emergency.
They are just attention seekers. -
Every day, you come for me,
And piece, by piece, but steadily,
You take another part of me away,
You strip my mind, my memory bare,
And leave it as if nothing`s there,
Not even just one thought of yesterday.
Every day, a living hell,
I just sit here, and none can tell,
The million precious thoughts once in my mind,
For with your visits, every day,
You took my precious thoughts away,
And left me unresponsive to mankind.
And every day, you come again,
To fester deep inside my brain,
And rob me of my dignity as well,
You leave me sitting in a chair,
A `being`, but, there`s no - one there,
A `hollow shell`, with non inside to dwell.
And every day, and more and more,
You just keep coming, through the door,
I see you, - though my voice now cannot speak,
And people here, who help me through,
All understand just what you do,
You `thief`, who robs the elderly and weak.
And every day, and weaker still,
With yet more tasks I cannot fill,
But still you come to me upon my bed,
You have done for me, you have had my best,
Come now , - take me, - to my rest,
But leave my thoughts of love still in my head.
You will not steal these precious days,
Of tender loving, gentle ways,
I will not let you take them, - they are mine,
Now you have done your worst to me,
Come, - take me to my `destiny`.
Where in my heart, and in my soul,
I will rebuild what you have stole,
And keep it with me. - Safe.
- Until the ending of all time.
Mick. -

THE DEAD COW LECTURE
One of life's more important lessons!
First-year students at the Plymouth Veterinary School were attending their first anatomy class with a real dead cow.
They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet.
The professor started the class by telling them, "In Veterinary Medicine it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor. The first is that you should not be disgusted by anything involving the animal's body."
For an example, the professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the cow, withdrew it, and stuck his finger in his mouth.
"Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students.
The students freaked out, hesitated for several minutes, but eventually took turns sticking a finger in the butt of the dead cow and sucking on it.
When everyone finished, the Professor looked at them and said, "The second most important quality is observation. I stuck in my middle finger and sucked on my index finger. Now learn to pay attention. Life's tough but it's even tougher if you're stupid." -

Air Fryer - I know we've been here before
I'm thinking of getting one but not totally sure. I would only get the 2ltr. as for just one and I don't have the space but all I read is how good they are for chips - I like chips as much as anyone but never more than once a week. Do they do jacket potatoes? Any pros and cons gratefully received - they are becoming the 'in' thing.

The Government has admitted a huge mistake and reversed abolishing the 45% tax band benefitting high earners most of all.
The lowest tax band starts at £12,570.
The simple way to boost the economy and help every UK tax-payer would be to raise this band to say £20,000?
That way all low wage earners would be better off, and able to face the increased cost of living?

Scam text on applying for energy rebate
Received text this morning inviting me to apply for energy rebate. Have double checked on Google- or rather, duck duck go - to get confirmation that no-one needs to apply. It's sent automatically. It's so evil, these scams - some people really worried about their finances will fall for it and will stand to lose more as I suspect the link will eventually request bank details. Needs a public information constant reminder on TV and radio.
Advice is to report it but I am not sure how to do that - forward the text, but to who? -

What Does It Cost (Edited)
Due to my Wife’s increasing dementia I have been forced to find out how to use the domestic appliances such as the washing machine, and in studying the handbook I came across a table that listed the electricity and water usage of each programme. My love for crunching numbers immediately made me wonder how much it cost to do the laundry and the results of my calculations is shown in the attached table.
The figures are based on the most popular programmes, a full load, and on my current tariffs which are Electricity 19.9p kWh including VAT, Water £1.0778 Waste £0.9488 and refer to my machine.
It is revealing to note how the costs vary between the programmes and the changing temperatures, clearly when time is not of the essence substantial differences occur in the costs, particularly when using the Eco button. Example it is 5.8 times more expensive to wash at 90C than at 20C.

Take yourself back to Summer.... (Edited)
Feeling you are back into the lovely hot Summer we had? Do watch Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer (not forgetting Ted) and watch them fishing on BBC2. I watched 2 episodes tonight that I had recorded. So very funny and the beautiful country sides they chose to cast their rods. I threw off my snuggly blanket and felt warm again just watching them fishing in Devon and Wales, a lovely programme.

At least 125 football fans have been killed by police firing tear gas at a match in Indonesia. Most of the deaths were caused by fans being crushed at the exit.
What is even more tragic is that all 42,000 people packed into the 38,000 capacity stadium were home team supporters. The away supporters were banned from buying tickets to avoid possible trouble.

A Pastor goes to the dentist for a set of false teeth. The first Sunday after he gets his new teeth, he talks for only eight minutes.
The second Sunday, he talks for only ten minutes. The following Sunday, he talks for 2 hours and 48 minutes.
The congregation had to mob him to get him down from the pulpit and they asked him what happened.
The Pastor explains the first Sunday his gums hurt so bad he couldn't talk for more than 8 minutes. The second Sunday his gums hurt too much to talk for more than 10 minutes. But, the third Sunday, he put his wife's' teeth in by mistake and he couldn't shut up. -
Disgusting! (Edited)
In a Town not far from us a woman was driving behind a Van when suddenly the van driver threw a kitten from the window of his vehicle! She managed to stop to look for the kitten as did others and the little kitten was found in some bushes. It was taken to a rescue centre and is well enough to be homed by some family who will love to give the little dear a home. She unfortunately didn't get the drivers number plate. 😠

Learn worser English with the CBeebies
I've had my nephews kids here all day, so I had the Cbeebies tv channel on. One of the programmes is called Bing. Starring Bing the bunny rabbit and Pondo the panda. In todays episode Pondo has a new skateboard and he lets Bing have a go, but Bing falls off.
At the end of the programme Bing recaps the show. This is what he said.
"Today Pondo had a new skateboard and he let me have a go. You have to bend your knees, hold your arms out and push with one foot. When I started to go down the hill I got scared and falled off"
I was like, it's fell off not falled. You're teaching kids wrong English.
Next week the story of the Three Blind Mouses. -
My sister ordered something from Damart and it was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I received the email (she doesn't use internet) saying it had been delivered and with a picture of it in the hallway outside the flat.
I didn't think it looked like her flat and I rang her and told her to look for it. Of course, it was nowhere to be seen. Basically, Evri have just dumped it in a corridor in a block of 70 flats and not bothered to ring the door, so now we have no idea where it is.
She rang Damart this morning and they insist it's been delivered. I have no idea what to do about it so she's going to have to just accept it. Anyone could have pinched it. -
Just had an email from Octopus informing me that my new monthly DD has been reduced by £67 to £132.75 until March (though I can continue paying £199 as a buffer if I wish).

Pushing a socially essential bill through Parliament (Edited)
I badly need to talk to a friendly MP who might support the Renters Reform Bill, which was reportedly introduced to Parliament by the Johnson government, before his downfall, but making no progress because of the change of Tory leadership. The new lot are too busy promoting their own policies, so this socially vital Bill isn't getting the attention and parliamentary time that it deserves.
Its primary purpose is to abolish 'no fault' eviction, which was repeatedly suspended during lockdown but is now in force again. The Bill needs to get through the parliamentary process as fast as possible but I don't know how that could be achieved.
I've written to my local MP about this but have had only an official auto-reply. Does anyone have a more approachable MP who might actively help to get this Bill into law? It's a cause that all parties would probably support. -
Saying that you are gay is now offensive
Andrew Doyle, who is openly gay, has told how he was called out for saying he was gay.
He replied to someone on social media with the opening phrase, " As a gay man...blah blah". He was immediately called oiut and told he was offending people, and that he should be saying, "As a member of the LGBTQ+ community...."
Another example of trans activists bullying normal gay people. -

We seem to be having an epidemic of car theft in Bromley. Another 2 gone last night according to Next Door website. Every day someone posts up at least one and that's just members of Next Door.
One of them last night was locked and the key was in a faraday bag but they still managed to steal it.
