Haven`t read it yet but it promises to be interesting...

I`m not particularly anti-monarchy but I do think they should be more brought into line with normal people`s tax. I mean he paid NO Inheritance tax "If Charles were any other Briton, he would have had to pay millions in inheritance tax, but in 1993, the then prime minister John Major granted the Windsors their single most precious financial asset -total immunity to this tax."😮 A lot more of us would be more well off we had that advantage. Why did JM do that? They can`t vote for his party? Did they pay it before? Haven`t found that out for certain yet but it kinda implies they did-doesn`t it? Surely that reduces the Govs` purse? Can`t see the logic? -
Berkshires local election results
Well that's over... Labour have lost overall control over Slough for the first time in years. I'd put the Conservative win completely down to Labour's mismanagement of funds as around the country is showing a different story.
Interestingly, conservatives lost windsor and maidenhead control.. this went to the Lib Dems!
Sloughs final results
Conservative Party - 21 seats (+16)
Labour Party - 18 seats (-17)
Liberal Democrats - 3 seats (+3)
People voted for local issues. I feel if it was a general election things would look a lot different!
Has your area had elections? How'd it go -

I got an email from Meta today. This is it......
"Unregistration notice
Hi, This is to inform you that your developer account does not have any roles on any apps (such as an admin). As such, to keep your developer account registration, we ask that you create an app or receive a role on an existing app within the next 30 days. If this developer account is not associated with an app by this date, this developer account will become unregistered. Please note that this will be the only reminder you receive in this time period and if no action is taken, this account will become unregistered in 30 days. Any removal of your developer account does not impact your personal Facebook account."
I don`t even know what it means,let alone if it`s a scam or not!!🤣🤣
What`s a developer account? I can`t have one or surely I`d know? I won`t let the FB App on my phone(too annoying!) so what App are they referring to that I have to `associate my developer account` with?
And of course it`s a `no-reply` email it came from so I can`t ask them!!
And there`s no way I`m clicking that"Goto App dashboard" button!!
Anyone know what it`s all about? -

Trump is Guilty (Edited)
A New York jury found on Tuesday that Donald Trump sexually abused the advice columnist E Jean Carroll in a New York department store changing room 27 years ago.
The verdict for the first time legally brands a former US president as a sexual predator. But as it is the result of a civil not criminal case, the only legal sanction Trump will face is financial.
In explaining a finding of sexual abuse to the jury, the judge said it had two elements. That Trump subjected Carroll to sexual contact without consent by use of force, and that it was for the purpose of sexual gratification.
The jury deliberated for less than three hours. It did not find Trump raped Carroll, but did find him liable for sexual abuse.
The jury awarded the writer almost $5m in damages for the battery and defamation charges. -

"The jury returns to the courtroom tomorrow, where the judge will give them further instruction at 10:00 local time (15:00 BST). Then the jury will begin deliberations.
We are hearing that the jury is expected to reach a verdict the same day, which includes setting a monetary amount Carroll is awarded in damages, if they find Trump liable for battery or defamation."
The BBC is reporting that the rape trial verdict may be expected later today.

I have been diligently getting on the step ladder and reading my meters every month complete with specs, pad, pen and torch. Read meters today, had no trouble submitting the gas, electric said I had to get in touch with supplier (Octopus). It seems that a smart meter was installed here in 2016, 3 years before I moved (I threw out the keypad as didn't know what it was) and didn't want a smart meter anyway. No problems whatsoever until today when I was informed that the smart meter was remotely turned on for the electricity in March this year without informing me so therefore no point in me submitting them anymore though I should take them anyway. When asked, they couldn't send me a keypad as too old a system. I am amazed they are allowed to do this after all this time. Although I don't want a smart meter, apparently I have no choice, really angry that they can do this.

This afternoon we walked past a school and saw lots of little Kings and Queens , pouring out wearing their crowns 👑 after their class parties. Some in full robes , waving flags and all smiling 😊 maybe a day they will remember for many years to come .
Whilst in the supermarkets, adult shoppers cleared shelves In preparation for their big weekend , piling their trollies high with scones, cream, burgers and 🍺 beer
We wandered home and hung our flags out in preparation for the sound of neighbours partying all around us and the smell of barbecues for a few days to come, even if it’s raining . -
Tfl Ignored Report (Edited)
Finally the details of the Jacob's report, which reveal the minimal effect of ULEZ.
Is it a huge waste of time and money - which could have been spent far more wisely on resources to help those who suffer from asthma and similar conditions?
"A report commissioned by Transport for London (TfL), of which Khan is the chairman, concluded that there would be few benefits to such an expansion.
The report was published in May last year but its findings appear to have been largely ignored by the Mayor’s team, with little public acknowledgement of its conclusions.
The report, conducted by Jacobs, a technical professional services firm, analysed 38 different objectives that TfL and the Mayor’s team hope to achieve with the Ulez expansion, covering the areas of the environment, people and the economy and measuring the impact this year.
Yet only five of those objectives were shown to have a minor or moderately positive impact if Ulez were expanded.
All the rest were deemed as having no effect either way, or as having a minor or moderately negative impact on Londoners.
A key driver behind Khan’s plan to expand the Ulez scheme is the desire to reduce the amount of tiny particles that vehicles – especially diesel engines – emit into the air and that then seep into our lungs, known as PM 10s and PM 2.5s.
This can contribute to children getting asthma, as well as congenital heart defects and lung diseases, with Khan warning that “air pollution is making us sick from cradle to the grave”.
The Jacobs report found that there would be just a 0.1pc reduction in people being exposed to PM 2.5 in a year, and that would prevent just nine older children from developing asthma. It describes the health benefits as “relatively small” -

A historian's view of Boris Johnson
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/apr/30/anthony-seldon-boris-johnson-at-10-biography-interview There's a link in this article to a book Seldon wrote about walking the First World War's Western Front, on a route he has helped to restore, which sounds very well worth buying - especially as profits from it will go towards the route. He sounds an admirable man, especially in comparison to Boris Johnson. There's also a link at the top to a review of Seldon's book which gives some snippets of the information gained from witnesses to Boris's woeful time at No.10.
