Friend of mine got this phonecall today.

Telephone call:-‘Good morning, I'm calling from the NHS test and trace service. According to our system, you are likely to have been in close proximity to someone who has tested postive for COVID-19. This means that you now need to self-isolate for 7 days and take a COVID-19 test.'
'OK. Can you tell me who that person was?'
'I'm not able to tell you that. That is confidential information.'
'Right. Um... so ....'
'But you do need to be tested within the next 72 hours. So can I just get the best mailing address so that we can send a kit to you?'
'Ok (gives address)'
'Thank you - and I just need to take a payment card so that we can finalise this and send the kit to you.'
'Sorry - a payment card? I though this was all free?'
'No - I'm afraid not. There is a one-off fee of £500 for the kit, and test results. Could you read off the long card number for me, please, when you're ready.'
'No - that's not right. This is part of the NHS so there's no charge.'

My sister has received a letter out of the blue from the above, saying that electric cabling runs under her property and she has been offered compensation of £150. Bungalow (by the coast) is probably 80s built, she and her late husband have lived there for about 25 years. Sorry my knowledge of the letter contents is a bit sketchy as I can only remember bits she read out to me. All this has come totally out of the blue and she didn't know about the cabling running under the bungalow. I've just read that they take a percentage of what is offered. I'm wondering if she should take solicitor advice - if she can at the present time.

Isn't it about time that Trump stopped threatening the protesters and instead promised the population safety in any interactions with the police.

Many black people (and undoubtedly other colours too) have been assaulted to the point of death, when they should instead be guaranteed justice. People who interact with the police should not fear death as a result. We have seen the woman with her dog in Central Park who attempted to use the police as a weapon against someone who justifiably asked her to put a lead on her dog.
Why should anybody asking someone to comply with local laws be intimidated and feel that their life has been threatened?

America needs to come to terms with the fact that there are people of all colours and race and live with them, not against them.

If Trump attempted to let the populace know that every life, (not just black and not just white, but every life) matters and that anybody interacting with the police will have the full protection of the law, there would be no need to threaten to bring in the army. Nobody should fear for their life when interacting with the police, fear for their liberty yes, their life, no.
