I have had type 2 Diabetes for many years now. Apart from taking the medication, I do not know I have it.
A surf of the web says that Twiglets are a good snack for Diabetes sufferers, much better by far than crisps and other snacks, many of which should be avoided.
So I have recently included them in my weekly shop and find them highly delightful in flavour and to eat. Very yummy and addictive.

Currently it's for over 75's but they said it's going to eventually be for over 12's.
What is the point when there's been hardly any deaths for weeks. I know there's been a rise in cases but none are serious.
I had two jabs and the booster, but I will probably turn down this 4th one as being a complete waste of time. -
Stop looking at your fellow passengers
There are now posters on TFL services saying that if you look at other passengers you can be reported for harrassment.
It's part of TFL's banned behaviours list. So I guess we all have to put those face masks back on, this time to cover our eyes. -

I never liked cameras and haven't had to use video on Zoom etc for the past two years but someone insisted that I did so yesterday and I balked; it really freaked me out.
The very notion of camera phobia seems barely to have been considered - and then, very poorly, judging by what little I could find on the subject. It's way beyond being camera shy...!
After all this time when we've had to meet one another online, I can't be the only person in the world who literally cannot face a camera lens without freezing - can I? -
The death of a Ukrainian soldier (Edited)
This detailed account of a young man's life and death is so touching. I'm glad the media are picking out some individual stories – I think it brings out the awfulness of war more than a report of a larger number of anonymous dead. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-60801586 Not that any considerations of suffering humanity will be troubling Putin, obviously.

Interesting (but Disturbing) Fact
Pedro López is a serial killer known as the "Monster of the Andes". He killed at least 53 people and possibly as many as 300. Due to sentencing restrictions, he was released after only 14 years in an Ecuadorian prison. He was then committed to a Colombian insane asylum but was let go after 1 year. His current whereabouts are unknown.

The cycle of life. (Read to the end.)
"No piece of art has ever emotionally affected me the way this robot arm piece has. It's programmed to try to contain the hydraulic fluid that’s constantly leaking out and required to keep itself running...if too much escapes, it will die so it's desperately trying to pull it back to continue to fight for another day. Saddest part is they gave the robot the ability to do these 'happy dances' to spectators. When the project was first launched it danced around spending most of its time interacting with the crowd since it could quickly pull back the small spillage. Many years later... (as you see it now in the video) it looks tired and hopeless as there isn't enough time to dance anymore.. It now only has enough time to try to keep itself alive as the amount of leaked hydraulic fluid became unmanageable as the spill grew over time. Living its last days in a never-ending cycle between sustaining life and simultaneously bleeding out... (Figuratively and literally as its hydraulic fluid was purposefully made to look like it's actual blood).
"The robot arm finally ran out of hydraulic fluid in 2019, slowly came to a halt and died - And I am now tearing up over a friggin robot arm 😭 It was programmed to live out this fate and no matter what it did or how hard it tried, there was no escaping it. Spectators watched as it slowly bled out until the day that it ceased to move forever. Saying that 'this resonates' doesn't even do it justice imo. Created by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, they named the piece, 'Can't Help Myself'. What a masterpiece. What a message."
Extended interpretations: the hydraulic fluid in relation to how we kill ourselves both mentally and physically for money just in an attempt to sustain life, how the system is set up for us to fail on purpose to essentially enslave us and to steal the best years of our lives to play the game that the richest people of the world have designed. How this robs us of our happiness, passion and our inner peace. How we are slowly drowning with more responsibilities, with more expected of us, less rewarding pay-offs and less free time to enjoy ourselves with as the years go by. How there's really no escaping the system and that we were destined at birth to follow a pretty specific path that was already laid out before us. How we can give and give and give and how easily we can be forgotten after we've gone.. How we are loved and respected when we are valuable, then one day we aren't any longer and we become a burden...and how our young, free-caring spirit gets stolen from us as we get churned out of the broken system that we are trapped inside of. Can also be seen to represent the human life cycle and the fact that none of us make it out of this world alive. But also can act as a reminder to allow yourself to heal, rest and love with all of your heart. That the endless chase for 'more' isn't necessary in finding your own inner happiness.”

Last night, Lord Forsyth’s assisted dying amendment was narrowly defeated (45% in favour, 55% opposed) after the Government instructed Conservative Peers to vote against it. The Government has done a disservice not only to dying Britons who suffer under a law that is dangerous and cruel, but also to our democracy by curtailing the debate of an issue that 84% of the general public support.
However the closeness of the vote, especially given the Government’s action, makes clear that assisted dying remains unfinished business in Parliament. The amendment didn’t ask Peers to support assisted dying in principle, but to commit Parliament to a full examination of the current law and a more compassionate alternative. The Government's refusal to facilitate the debate ignores the will of the people. If you haven’t already please sign our government petition to demonstrate the need for parliamentary time on assisted dying.
Yes, I'll sign the petition →
I want to thank everyone who wrote to Peers ahead of the vote - this contributed enormously to the significant number of new Peers who voted in favour and will have been a motivating factor for Tory Peers who broke the whip.
Having experienced the cruelty of the current law first hand during his father’s death, Lord Forsyth simply wanted the Government to give the issue the time it deserves. When a proper process for debate can happen, as it does in many other jurisdictions including in Scotland, parliamentarians are convinced by the enormous benefits of law change.
New polling published this week shows that 8 in 10 Brits want the Government to guarantee a debate before the next election. Choice in dying isn’t an idealistic or radical proposition. It is a modest reform on which the public expect and demand change.
Please, show your support today by signing our petition. If you’ve already signed, please send this link to friends and family: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/604383

I get more confused by the day - P & O (Edited)
P&O sacks EVERY crew member with immediate effect and uses agency staff to sail ships as it kicks baffled passengers off at ports amid huge row with unions over pay
Existing staff can apply to the agency for work, in a move branded 'outrageous' by furious union leaders
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said his officials were in urgent talks with P&0 Ferries over the situation
Firm operates four routes: Dover to Calais; Hull to Rotterdam; Liverpool to Dublin; and Cairnryan to Larne

P&O Ferries today made all its crew members redundant with immediate effect and replaced them with agency staff as it kicked baffled passengers off at ports amid a huge row with unions over pay.
Existing employees can apply to the agency for work, in a move branded 'outrageous' by furious union leaders. One woman who said her father had lost his job accused P&O of a 'callous attack on working people'.
Meanwhile, furious passengers scrambled to find alternative routes, with one Northern Ireland councillor unable to travel to a funeral because of the sudden disruption.
The company said customers should continue to come to ports and they would be provided with alternative transportation.
P&O Ferries - which operates four routes between the UK and Europe - ordered all its ships to return to port this morning to prepare for an announcement that would 'secure' its 'long-term viability'.
Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union general secretary Mick Lynch earlier said there was 'growing speculation that the company were planning to sack hundreds of UK seafarers and replace them with foreign labour'.
He added: 'We have instructed our members to remain on board and are demanding our members across P&O's UK operations are protected, and that the Secretary of State intervenes to save UK seafarers from the dole queue.'
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told the House of Commons this morning he was 'concerned' by the situation and his officials were holding urgent talks with bosses.
It came as DUP MP Jim Shannon claimed in the Commons that nearly half of P&O Ferries is owned by a Russian business. 'I understand that 40% of the holdings of P&O Ferries is held by a Russian company,' he said.
Three P&O ferries, Spirit of Britain, Pride of Canterbury and Pride of Kent moor up in the cruise terminal at the Port of Dover in Kent after the company suspended sailing
P&O said it had halted operations ahead of a "major announcement" but insisted it is "not going into liquidation

Today confused customers took to Twitter to reveal the chaos they are facing after P&O's unexpected announcement today. One Northern Ireland councillor (top left) was unable to travel to a funeral because of the sudden disruption
Mr Shapps said earlier today: 'I understand they have temporarily paused their operations and that's causing disruption at the short straits - Calais-Dover - as well as some other ports.
'I'm working with the Kent Resilience Forum and I've just instructed them to become intricately involved, and other partners in this, and we'll be taking steps later today - including ensuring that my officials will be having urgent discussions with P&O about the situation, particularly of concern for their workers.' -
In an earlier post the question of how we form our opinions was raised and Joss suggested that it would form an interesting subject to debate in a new post, which I undertook to investigate and report back on. The following are the results of my efforts.
Immediately upon starting this exercise I realized that there was a snag, namely, that whatever the conclusions reached, would be MY OPINION and therefore open to question. To overcome this difficulty I propose to express my thoughts as a series of observations for members to consider, challenge and debate. The following are the results of that research.
A) FOUNDATION. Dr J Goebbels realized that it is possible to make the majority of people believe ANYTHING that you want them to believe. To achieve this all you have to do is to constantly tell them what it is that they WANT TO HEAR until they BELIEVE IN YOU, and then to tell them what it is that YOU WANT THEM TO BELIEVE. It is called propaganda, a form of brainwashing, and it ultimately led to the Holocaust.
We have a classic example of this in the Guardian that continually boasts that it is a charity which owes no allegiance and is therefore believable, as opposed to the remainder of the press, owned by billionaires with axes to grind. What we must remember is that, like all newspapers, it has one objective and that is to SELL PAPERS.
B) SOURCING. Next we must consider where we obtain the information upon which we base our opinion, which, for most of us will be TV, newspapers, conversation, social media and personal experience.
C) QUANTIFICATION. Since people rely upon the above sources, they are all influenced/brainwashed by the way in which any source chooses to present that information, together with the intellect of the person receiving it, therefore it is vital that the source, and its possible bias, is subject to careful scrutiny.
D) EVALUATION. Finally we reach the most important and most difficult task, namely, how do we process all of the data into a reasonable valid opinion. Since there is no prescribed formula for achieving this one can only offer suggestions as a basis for debate.
1) Start with an open mind, a very difficult requirement.
2) Check as many and varied sources as possible.
3) Impartially evaluate each source as to its leaning and credibility.
4) Consider both pro’s and con’s, where something/somebody is bad, look for the good, and vice versa.
5) Avoid “bees in the bonnet” syndrome, however passionately one believes in a cause try to be objective at all times.
6) Finally, carefully, using reason and logic, form an OPINION and having done so stay with it until you get a reasoned and logical argument, SUPPORTED BY FACT, to alter/modify it.
Finally, having given this subject some thought I am forced to the conclusion that forming a sound opinion is a most difficult process and that “off the cuff” hasty opinions are worthless.
I look forward, with interest to any responses you may wish to make upon the subject covered by the above. -

the positive side of social media
I lost my beautiful staffy Flash 3 weeks ago suddenly. Those of you who have lost pets know the pain.
I was part of a staffy group on FB, one of the members sent me a link to their offshoot group on senior staffies over the rainbow bridge.
I posted about my boy and put up a photo, within a day I had 300 fellow staffy owners send me messages of support. I looked back over previous posts and there isn't one cross word in the whole thing, just an outpouring of sympathy and support for those who are struggling with losing a beloved pet. A safe place to talk about how you are feeling and a place to remember our lost pets.
