#cashisking
Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card ?
- Say I have a £50 banknote in my pocket & I'm going to a restaurant & paying for dinner with it.
The restaurant owner then uses the note to pay for the laundry.
The laundry owner then uses the note to pay the barber.
The barber will then use the note to pay for shopping.
After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a £50 value, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment & the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made.
BUT....
IF I go to a restaurant & pay digitally via Card....
- the bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around £1.50....
(& so will be the fee of £1.50 for each further payment transaction )
- for the owner re laundry or
- payments of the owner of the laundry shop,
- or payments of the barber etc....
Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial £50 will exist at only £5, & the remaining £45 has become the property of the bank, thanks to all of the digital transactions & fees!!!
Use it or lose it folks....
Once it’s gone we won’t get it back!!!
Cash is king!!!

Best Joke at Edinburgh Fringe...
Each year a panel of leading comedy critics spends hours watching hundreds of shows to find the most hilarious joke.
This year the prize went to Lorna Rose Treen, with her one-liner:
"I started dating a zookeeper - but it turned out he was a cheetah."
Please give your marks out of 10 for this joke. -
President Dumb-bell (Edited)
At the most critical time since the Cuban crisis, the USA has a President who does not know what day it is. A serious threat to global security in the face of the Ukrainian and Taiwan conflicts and the many other threats in this trouble-torn world of today.
He should be immediately replaced.

Lovely morning getting rid of stuff
British Heart took big pine cupboard, butlers tray, ladder bookcase and some never worn clothes and then Anglo Collections took 4 boxes of bric-à-brac and more clothes. Had to tell Anglo off as they arrived a minute later than their stated tracking service (he knew I was joking). I cannot praise them both highly enough. Just left now with stuff for the textile bin in the car park and rugs/coat hangers, etc., for the tip (might try the dustbin first as only runners/mats but unlikely). It's been a total mess/hard work here for the past week - couldn't get in the hall and neighbour had to help move the heavy stuff but so worth it. I can't believe it was so bad! I'm already thinking what can go next. And all because Boots moved.

Was watching some Comedy Unleashed youtube videos when a comedian named Frank Sanazi came on stage. He did a hilarious routine whilst in character. A mix of Frank Sinatra and Adolf Hitler. Near the end of his set he mentioned he was part of a comedy show called The Iraq Pack.
The others are Dean Stalin, Saddami Davis Junior, and Osama Bing Crosby.
Here's a link to their show.

If I cook a gammon joint in a slow cooker, do I leave the rind on or take it off. I've not done one in a slow cooker before, done one about 15 years ago in a pan on the top of the stove, in cider. cant remember for the life of me, if I took the rind off or left it on. I know I have to take it off and glaze the fat before putting it in the oven after its cooked. But does it go in the pot on or off. Thanks.

I`m pretty used to using ATMs but lately there are so many different designs I never know where the money is coming out!!And have to think about which is the card slotr sometimes too. And the various slots don`t have labels either. Why not?! Surely that can`t be a security risk?
Last year in the time it took me to find the money delivering slot-right down at thigh level-one had sucked my money back in and wouldn`t let me try again.Yesterday I couldn`t finb which slot was delivering and nearly walked away thinking it had run out of dosh. If it hadn`t been for the two very kind young ladies behind me I`d`ve lost my £100!!
How the hell do you tell where it`s coming from? -

Private / independent schools may have an Independent Schools Inspection.
What's the difference you may well ask?
"Both ISI and Ofsted report on independent schools’ compliance with the DfE Education (Independent Schools Standards) Regulations.
These are the statutory rules the DfE imposes on independent schools against which ISI inspects.
But ISI and Ofsted use a different framework and criteria for judging school quality – and they use different judgement words too.
For example, ISI uses excellent, good, sound and unsatisfactory and Ofsted uses outstanding, good, requires improvement and inadequate.
Another difference is that ISI inspection teams largely consist of practising senior leaders currently working in ISC schools, whereas Ofsted inspectors have not necessarily run a school.
This means ISI inspectors are realistic and knowledgeable about the challenges for individual schools and their reports are more nuanced. For example, ISI inspectors judge ISC schools against the higher standards of academic achievement and extracurricular activities in the sector as a whole as well as against national norms.
ISI reports are also less data driven than with Ofsted, although Ofsted has announced that it will ditch exam results as criteria for success in September 2019 [article in The Guardian].
In addition, ISI reports stand out for the attention they give to whether a school meets its own aims.
These tend to be more specific to the school and fuller than in the state sector. In other words, ISI inspections are tailoring their report around what the school says it is doing rather than what the state thinks it should be doing."

How to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke from furniture
Do any of you know how to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke from furniture?
I recently collected a leather high back office chair from one of the freebie sites to replace a worn out chair which my daughter sometimes uses to work from home.
When i got it home I noticed that it has a faint smell of cigarette smoke.
It's a nice chair in excellent condition, so I don't want to get rid of it but the smell may mean that I can't use it -

Family ‘broken’ by withdrawal of some money (Edited)
Is it me? Or am I reading this account incorrectly. It appears to me that this couple are putting pressure on the children, worrying them! Don’t they also get family allowance?
Why would children keep asking about holidays? Or worry about having to move. Many children don’t have holidays - food and a roof over their heads is more important

I've been reading on fb the posts of a palliative nurse. She lives in Herts but works in Hillibgdon, night shifts. Each night shift will cost her £25 ulez charge .
She drives all over the Borough and cannot do public transport due to time of work and all the equipment She carries.
I'm not sure how people can afford this .
I must admit I hadn't even considered someone working a nightshirt spanning two 24 hour periodsThis discussion is now closed.

Recorder stopped working - SOS
I've just realised the Panasonic Recorder hasn't been recording for the past couple of days. Just spent yet another hour trying to work out why - I really don't want to buy a new one. The information says:
Poor reception
Aerial cable disconnected
(always have used an indoor aerial and never had a problem before)
I don't think either of those apply, have pushed everything in to be certain.
The Channel was encrypted. I don't know what that means.
Just tried recording current programmes, none are recording and the red record light is flashing.
I'm bereft as I record everything - I'd be grateful for any suggestions, please! -

Wanting to get a new telly but am confused by all the details.
Don't really need an all singing and dancing one but good picture and sound, the one i was looking at has lots of good reviews for a 'cheapie' but a couple of them say the sound quality is not good.
Any recommendations ? -

Power search protected sockets
Is this the next step to be installed in our houses? I bought plugs to be used on existing sockets but need more sockets to be fitted.
Apart from the usual protected goods computers, television aso I wondered if we also should protect other goods now e.g. washing machines, heaters as they all have more complicated programs.
