Power search protected sockets
Is this the next step to be installed in our houses? I bought plugs to be used on existing sockets but need more sockets to be fitted.
Apart from the usual protected goods computers, television aso I wondered if we also should protect other goods now e.g. washing machines, heaters as they all have more complicated programs. -

I think it’s quite a nice caricature -
Just been on the news - people hanging about on level crossings, filming themselves for their social media accounts. Frankly, if they are hit by a train it's their own fault and I only care about the effect on the train driver, but I'd like to murder the person who was getting their dogs to pose on a level crossing, off the lead. I find myself feeling nostalgic for the Fifties, which were boring and restrictive but at least most people seemed to have some common sense and thoughtfulness.

This is not a racist picture (Edited)
One of Meghan Markles friends has claimed a picture of a tobacco plantation with black workers is racist. It isn't. They are not slaves, they are local workers earning a living.

Are activist groups losing the plot?
Three incidents I've read about or seen on tv news today.
1. Just Stop Oil protesters glued themselves to the road to block a professional cycling race around Glasgow. I thought they wanted people to use bikes.
2. The animal rights nutters at Peta are still demanding a pub called The Old Bulldog change its name. Their rep told the reporter the name encourages people to buy a bulldog. Then she spouted some rubbish about how they can't breathe. A pub regular said the pub's previous name was the SeaLion, but nobody bought a pet sea lion.
3. This is the most daft incident. A group called Tyre Extinguishers, who are against people owning 4x4 SUv vehicles, slashed the tyres of every vehicle in a Jaguar and Landrover dealership in Exeter, Devon, in retaliation for the two children killed in the Wimbledon accident. Just because the woman was driving a Land Rover. This discussion is now closed.

ATM Thefts - Collier Row
If you use an ATM cash machine please be mindful about who is around you. Make sure when entering your PIN number you cover the key pad so no one can see what you are entering. If you feel someone is standing too close or is trying to engage with you cancel the transaction.
If your card is swallowed by the ATM please stay with the machine and contact the bank immediatley, if possible, so your card can be stopped.
Theives are using devices which hold your card once you have entered your PIN number. If they have managed to see your PIN number, once you have walked away they will retrieve your card and then draw money from your account.
Please make friends, relatives and neighbours aware of this type of theft. -
Landline Telephone Transfer from Overhead Lines Supply to Computer Router/Hub
Most telephone suppliers are transferring their supply from the traditional overhead cables to direct connection to computer routers. My Virgin supply will be changed at the end of October.
With phones in my lounge, kitchen and upstairs, I visualised a massive rewiring job. But not needed, easy solution found.
Purchase a set of cordless digital phones - I selected a base unit and two slaves (£64) - you can have a set with more slaves if needed. Wiring ? No longer required.
The base unit plugs directly into my router via an adaptor when the time comes and the electrical supply, the slaves are placed wherever I wish, plugged into the electrical supply. So I now have the house supplied with phones in various rooms or places of my choice. The only telephone supply being to the base unit.
Now, the base unit controls the slaves, any changes to the base unit settings or phone details added to the memory etc. are automatically transferred from the base unit to each slave unit. All phones automatically become identical in content.
Changeover ? Go ahead, no problem, just a base unit change of location. -
Always had central heating boiler/radiators. Since move to retirement flat only have electric heaters. No gas. Replaced one radiator but found the room warms up --very slowly. ----The old radiator seemed to have a fan and the hall is warm in a very short time. Hall radiator broke down and I need a replacement. Any recommendation please. Not much idea about specifications so would appreciate clear details. Thanks.

“You know I have this gorgeous head of hair – when I take a shower, I want water to pour down on me. When you go into these new homes with showers, the water drips down slowly, slowly,” Mr Trump told the diners. { South Carolina yesterday }
It is unclear where Mr Trump — whose two main domiciles are a luxury golf resort in Florida and a gilded skyscraper in Manhattan, both of which he owns — is experiencing these shower troubles.
“You have suds, beautiful nice wonderful suds, a lot of money, Procter & Gamble, all that crap that they sell they say is good, probably costs ’em about two cents and they sell it for $10," Mr Trump said. "It takes you 10 minutes to wash your hair. You know what you do? You just stay in the shower about 10 times longer than you would have, it’s the same, you probably use more water. I broke all that up.”
It's not the first time Mr Trump has complained about his bathroom activities being disrupted by water conservation efforts.
In 2019 he made the telling-on-himself admission that Americans had to flush their toilets "10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once," blaming water regulating standards for his apparent need to flush a dozen times per use.
“You turn on the faucet and you don’t get any water. They take a shower and water comes dripping out. Just dripping out, very quietly dripping out,” he said at the time. “People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times, as opposed to once.”
The water issue was one of the few things Mr Trump did while in office that aligned with his early campaign promises; he directed the Department of Energy to ease up water conservation standards for showerheads. -
Now this is what I think those protestors could be doing . Cleaning up pollution or challenging governments in the most polluting countries.
