Ofcom were to consider renewing FM and AM licences in 2022, but this has been put back to 2032. Thank goodness, I have only just replaced my crystal set!

I have been with Virgin for many years (was NTL before) every year they put the prices up and every year I haggle and get a better deal.
This year when my haggled discount of £41 was due to rise to £54! I phoned them again threatening to leave, my normal ploy and was immediately given a new price of £39 for exactly the same package I have had for years providing that I have an 18 month contract.
As I am very satisfied with Virgin and would not want to leave I am a happy bunny -

We are all getting vouchers from Mr Sunak that give us up to 50% off food in some restaurants. Only in August and only from Monday to Wednesday. Nothing off drinks. Maximum of £10 discount, so not many will get the full 50% off unless you are Billy Nomates.

My mobile scooter finally arrived middle size, suitable for transport in parts and comfortable. Have not done any long runs.
However was told to charge up every night. With all rechargeable batteries like telephone, toothbrush one is told to only charge when nearly empty to prolong the life of the battery. What is so different with scooter batteries? -
According to different news articles, it seems that footfall in shops is still at least 50% less than it was this time last year. There are calls for the Chancellor to do something to boost them, ie a cut in VAT or a (ridiculous imo) £500 voucher for everyone to spend in them.
The question is would either of those things make you more willing to go back to actual shopping rather than online? Is there anything else that is likely to temp you to go shopping? -

Have I Been Pwned? (Edited)
A member has commented that this is a joke; I can assure you it is not.
Be aware that if you have signed up to Have I Been Pwned, a site which notifies you if your email address and password have been acquired in a data breach, that, when informing you that you have been 'Pwned', they are providing the addresses and passwords of everyone else involved. I have just been provided with the addresses and passwords of 67,514 people.
I suspect that someone has made a mistake, or been made redundant! I have informed the site's creator. -
Where can I get a USB stick with a write protect switch. (Edited)
Hi
I need to repair a computer which has several software problems, including files which need recovering.
The computer may or may not have a virus.
I have assorted repair software including virus scanners which I can run from a USB stick, but I don't want to run the risk of the files on the USB stick getting corrupted or infected.
Several years ago USB sticks often had write protect switches, but all of the modern drives I've seen don't have switches and the last stick I had with a switch died a few weeks ago.
Do any of you know of a brand/model of USB stick which still has a write protect switch?
It needs to be a minimum of 4GB but ideally larger.
If all else fails most SD cards have write protect switches but I'd prefer a dedicated USB drive rather than a card and a reader. -
I heard that these will soon be legal on the roads. Not something I am looking forward to at all. Does anyone else have reservations?

NOTICE OF MY INTENTION TO LEAVE THE GROUP.
It may or may not be disappointing to some people to know that I have decided to leave this group, but I am sick and tired of the constant criticisms and purile remarks about things that have nothing to do with anyone else but me.
Okay... So I like dressing-up in ladies clothes. So what? And, my culinary tastes might seem strange to some people... but I have particular penchant for cucumbers. Which brings me to the matter of my sexual preferences, which I know might seem strange to some people, but group sex with dwarfs, midgets, and pygmies is only a ‘small’ perversion compared to the other matter...
And the magistrate was particularly understanding when I explained that running naked through our local park wearing my ex wife’s underwear on my head and brandishing a dildo in each hand is an ancient pagan custom and...
Oh shit! Wrong group! Bugger
Please ignore all of the above...This discussion is now closed.

So we've had toilet rolls, sugar, flour, yeast etc but this week I've discovered another, unexpected one.....all-in-one printers. I've tried Argos, Currys, Amazon and John Lewis and I just can't get one. I can probably get one through Amazon but I don't really want to and I would have to settle for one not of my choice.

A leaked document shows the government is backtracking on their promise to ban chlorinated chicken in a trade deal with Trump. They’re leaving the door wide open to food from the US that violates our high animal welfare and food standards.
Right now, the government is hoping that their broken promise will go unnoticed. But if we kick up a huge fuss, we can shine a spotlight on the government’s hypocrisy. With less than a week until the next round of US-UK trade talks, we need to pile on the pressure, and quick.
As Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has ultimate responsibility for the government's trade policy. If tens of thousands of us sign an open letter to him, calling out this broken promise , and asking him to ban food that violates our animal welfare and food standards in law, he’ll be in no doubt about where the public stand.
Please will you sign the open letter to Boris Johnson now?
