General election winning song?
I for one am going into this general election open minded. I will listen to all the parties and decide which one lines up with my beliefs, no matter who it is.
One thing I've been thinking...there is always an election victory song( I remember Tony Blairs Things can only get better!) ..if either of the main parties win I wonder what their song will be?

Thank you very much to those of you who contributed to last month’s donations totalling £45 kindly forwarded to me by Suzy P and a large box of Sheba sachets delivered to my house. The amount of cats in need of help is beyond ridiculous. Never one day without at least one demand of help to an unwanted, abandoned, abused or found cat. Right now i was hoping to find a fosterer for a very friendly young male tabby and white who must leave the vet’s having been neutered and virus tested, etc… but no luck and the poor cat will be back on the streets tomorrow.
That is one thing i am not good at to put cats back where found after vet’s visits as there are too many of them and nowhere for most. People prefer to adopt kittens rather than cats and rarely keep them as family members for the rest of their lives.
So i am forever moaning as rescuing cats is a never ending impossible challenge.
It takes all the little energy Long Covid leaves me, all my money and time.
I am aware of a 16 year old cat left in very poor condition outside the owner’s front door who does not want to bring him in and is not concerned about his needs and suffering.
One example of cause of anger building inside me!
Please if you can foster a cat or two do make contact asap.
Who here has a kitchen junk drawer? What made you start one? Where did this whole junk drawer thing come from?
If you do have one, what's in it? Mine currently has some spare batteries, pens, headphones, charger, some coins, hair grips, a few bills , a stapler and 3 plastic forks!
I remember mum having a junk drawer, just checked with my kids they also have 1!!

Ireland, Spain and Norway recognise Palestine
Norway, Ireland, and Spain have officially recognised a Palestinian state.
This coordinated move was announced by Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, who emphasised its significance as a historic and important day for Palestine.
Other European countries have also expressed their intention to recognise a Palestinian state, emphasising the importance of a two-state solution for achieving lasting peace in the region.

Former Post Office CEO Paula Vennells submits new documents before inquiry into scandal
Paula Vennells, the former CEO of the Post Office, has provided 50 new documents to the ongoing inquiry into the Post Office scandal. These documents were discovered during additional searches conducted by her legal team ahead of her scheduled appearance next week.
The inquiry has confirmed receiving the documents and expects to receive more from Vennells, which will be reviewed promptly. Concerns have been raised about the timeliness of document submissions, and witnesses are warned that they may be recalled if necessary.
During the inquiry, Vennells's former colleague, Alisdair Cameron, the ex-chief financial officer, faced questioning about his knowledge of the scandal. He expressed regret for the impact on affected sub-postmasters and discussed a document he wrote in 2020 titled "what went wrong," which highlighted issues that should have been addressed a decade earlier.
Cameron criticised the Post Office's defensive stance, describing it as a "victim mentality" and a waste of public funds. He acknowledged that the company relied too heavily on the flawed Horizon accounting software and that the prosecutions of sub-postmasters were unjust. He believed that the Post Office should have apologised and resolved the situation years ago.

Is Dementia on the Increase ? (Edited)
When I was young and well into my 40's I had never come across Dementia, almost never heard or read about it.
But today, it is popping up all the time in the news or even friends and family or in topical discussion.
As a young kiddy and adult, old people were simply old people. they were all very normal and nice in my circle.
Cannot understand the absence of Dementia in my early life compared to the frequent occurrence of today.

Things to do at weekends (Edited)
I know some people like to spend time at weekends browsing charity shops looking for a good bargain. Maybe hoping to get lucky and find a Harry Potter first edition, or a designer outfit.
But I like to try something different from time to time. This weekend I tried a new Italian restaurant for Sunday lunch. It is Vapiano's at Tower Bridge. From your table you have a view of the bridge and the Tower of London. They have an open kitchen so you can see the chefs working and the food is served as soon as it is cooked. It does mean some people on the same table get their dish before the others. But everyone gets piping hot food. The garlic bread was red hot.
It is one of many restaurants now where you scan the QR code on the menu to download the app, then order with your smartphone.
First choose your pasta shape, then your sauce and meat.
I chose campanelle with pollo rustica, which is chicken with nduja sausage and spinach. My sister and her daughter kept it simple with penne pomodoro and tagliatelle carbonara. My other sister had a whole sourdough pizza to herself.
Very tasty food at very reasonable prices. Two courses plus drinks worked out at £30 each.
Post Office Inquiry - Paula Vennels, former CEO, will start giving evidence tomorrow.
Paula Vennells, former Post Office CEO, faced controversy after a cover-up of issues with the Horizon system and mistreatment of subpostmasters during her tenure.
Despite the organisation losing a legal battle and wasting public funds, she received a CBE in 2019. A colleague's testimony revealed her disbelief in miscarriages of justice against subpostmasters prosecuted based on faulty software.
Over 100 wrongful convictions have been overturned, leading to unprecedented legislation to quash convictions en masse.
Solicitor Neil Hudgell emphasized the significance of Vennells' appearance at the public inquiry, as victims seek accountability and genuine remorse.
Vennells' name evokes anger among subpostmasters, making her testimony a highly anticipated event.
She is expected to give evidence for three days starting tomorrow, May 22nd.
Somebody who has refused to give evidence to the Inquiry is Former Post Office General Counsel, Jane Macleod, her refusal to attend the Inquiry (whether remotely or in person) has the effect of obstructing justice - not a good look for a senior lawyer.
DOL orders - what we probably don't know!
Katy and Zarha, are just two teenagers, who were placed under Deprivation of Liberty (DoL) orders due to concerns about their safety and well-being.
They faced strict restrictions, including constant supervision, limited access to communication, and physical restraint.
Both girls experienced traumatic incidents involving male workers and felt the restraints were often unnecessary and inappropriate.
The use of DoL orders has increased significantly in recent years, raising concerns about the suitability of workers, the lack of therapeutic support, and the use of unregulated accommodation.
Experts and officials express worries about the long-term impact of DoL orders on children's mental health and development.

Today I went in to a charity shop (Thames Hospice in Langley). I don't usually go wandering around looking for clothes or anything like that, in fact I usually donate goods to Cancer Research UK who even supply a card so that when you donate, they scan your details and automatically claim Gift Aid on your donation.
However, we were in Langley, so decided that as we had paid the council for the honour of parking there, we may as well fill the time by looking in the Hospice's shop. It wasn't long before I spotted a trolley with a tilting barrow attached, full of building blocks. It looked to be just the thing for my grandson to play with when he gets older. Made of plastic, it would be easy to give the whole package a thorough wash to ensure it was thoroughly clean before use. At £8 it was a little bargain.
Next were Tinky-Winky and La-La, two of the Teletubbies in very good condition at £1.50 each. Impossible not to buy. Made of material they would be nice to play with, but needed a clean. Anti-bacterial spray generously applied all over the toys with a good wiping down with kitchen roll then pegged out on the line to dry solved the problem.
Whilst looking around, we were approached by the manager who told us about a newly arrived toy which hadn't been put on a shelf yet. We followed him into the stockroom and there he had a radio controlled car, which he demonstrated. It was an impressive thing, even more so when he said he was selling it for £4.
My grandson is only 10 months at the moment and the car should only be used from 24 months old, so it's been put away for another year or so. But what a collection of toys with so little cost and potentially years of pleasure.
With all takings going to the charity alongside any Gift Aid associated with any of the items it is a totally win-win situation.
Do you ever donate goods to charities?
Do you purchase from charities?
If the answer to either is yes, what was your best donation and/or purchase?
