Can you recycle bread wrappers now?
Bought a Warburtons seeded batch loaf today and on the clear plastic wrapper it says "please recycle me". Didn't think flimsy plastic can be recycled.

Came across this song and liked the singer's voice and melody. Have the feeling I heard it from some film but can not recall. Maybe it was played in a different tempo or I am mixing it up with some thing else as I am tone deaf.

Just bought and started using a tub of Country Life margarine with offer 2 for 1 entry to English Heritage wondering if we are ever able to use the coupon. Reading instruction solved the problem. Valid between 20. December 2018 and 31. March 2020.
Received today from neighbourhood alert.
Criminals are exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic to defraud people.
Below are some of the most common scams to be aware of:
EMAIL, TEXT AND PHONE CALL SCAMS:
•An unexpected email from the government offering you money.
•The 'infection list' scam mimicking the World Health Organisation (WHO) claiming to provide a list or map of local infections.
•An email from HM Government asking for donations for the NHS.
•An HMRC email stating you are ‘eligible to receive a tax refund’.
•Sale of fake COVID-19 swabbing tests, supplements, and anti-virus kits.
•A text message asking you to pay a fine as it says you have been ‘recorded as leaving your home on three occasions’ during the lockdown.
•A phone call stating ‘government guidelines now require everyone to wear a mask outside the house, press 1 to purchase your mask’.
DOORSTEP CRIME
•Cleansing services that offer to clean drives and doorways to kill bacteria or offering to 'decontaminate' the inside of your home.
•Bogus healthcare workers offering to take your temperature or provide 'home-testing' for the virus.
•Criminals offering to do your shopping. They take the money and do not return.

Who’s to blame in this video ? (Edited)
Just saw this video on tik Tok and I instantly thought the lady was to blame as she walked out in to the road without checking for anything coming from her left and as we all know as car drivers motorbikes tend to appear from nowhere as they pass us on the right. But lots saying it was his fault. What do others think?

Anyone else had a video consultation with their Dr? (Edited)
I did yesterday and have to say it was very odd talking to them on some video calling app.. brilliant that they do it as I didn’t want to go to the surgery. But during a normal phone call he asked to talk on video so he could see my eye I was like omg I need to brush my hair..put some lipstick on ..LOL
Thankfully setting up the app gave me enough time to look presentable thank goodness
Has anyone else been offered this service or have you dared to venture to the actual dr surgery during this lockdown period or are you deliberately avoiding drs & hospitals like so many are ?
Covid Death number inc care home up by 4419 today (Edited)
Quite shocking as it brings our death rate up to 26 097 higher than Spain and France and only a thousand or so off Italy. So 3rd highest country death wise. Why better practices in care homes weren’t better put in place early on I don’t know. Considering the elderly in the community were ordered to stay indoors for 12 weeks to protect them but the people in the care home by the looks of it a-lot were just left to get ill & die in the homes.
Although the USA with 60 000 deaths & over 1 million infected says quite a lot I think about how slack they have been in dealing with it.
Does anyone know what this is. It looks like a military cap badge, if so which regiment? It is a silver colour and measures 7cm x 5cm.
Attackers wearing surgical masks
This was always a concern

Before the coronavirus saga when one returned an item the refund email arrived a few hours later and showed on ones statement not more than a day later. Now they tell you one has to wait for up to 10 days. What has changed?Had to phone them 22. April spending a few hours listening to music. No email notification arrived. Phoned again 23. "with music" and lady did say she do it now. As it was a substitute and "not price matched" I did query why they always send the more expensive item. She got quite shirty and said she refunded me and banged the phone down. In fact the did not refund me all and they still owe me money. Have not received an email refund notification as of today.
I am not letting this rest and looked everywhere for their email address. Does anyone know how best and most effective to get in touch with Sainsburys? (have still to asked for rest of money owing to me)
By the way we are only talking about the meagre sum of ----£696.30 --- as some idiot instead of 6 items clocked up 66.
How long to keep financial stuff, please
I am drowning in paperwork - used to be good at clearing but getting progressively worse. Question is how long do I need to keep bank statements, tax returns, credit card statements, utility bills, car/house insurance, sold shares, etc., etc. I see I have kept copy of a self-assessment tax return in 2010, must be useless by now?

Recommendations for Apps to play games with friends.

Maybe card games?
I really enjoyed this mini series. Excellent acting. Did anyone else watch it?

Sent them a rude reply.
Knife crime in England and Wales rises to record high
45,627 knife crime offences recorded in the year to December 2019 (excluding Greater Manchester Police because of IT issues). An increase of 7% on 2018 and the highest since statistics were first collected in 2010-11.
Robberies up 12% to 83,930, the fourth consecutive annual increase.
670 cases of murder and manslaughter (excluding Greater Manchester).
One in 14 offences led to court proceedings, less than half the rate five years ago.
The reason for the decline is given as a lack of co-operation by victims, possibly because they don't believe anything will happen.
Overall trends in crime remain broadly stable, according to the ONS, with the Crime Survey for England and Wales - which includes offences that are not reported to police - suggesting there was a fall of 5% compared with 2018.
The figures do not include the period immediately before and during the lockdown, but statistics released by the National Police Chiefs' Council last week showed that serious assaults had fallen by 27% and robberies by 37%; it's thought knife crime will have followed a similar pattern.

Fraud rose by 9%, driven by a rise in bank and credit account fraud.

It would be interesting to know how unreported crimes are included.
It seems crime does pay.

Advise central heating (Edited)
I understand a few of you got some excellent advise from some members but forgot who it was.
We had some radiators staying cold in some parts also the thermostats on some rads were not working.
I had the thermostats renewed and as a neighbour recommended to have self venting valves on radiators I asked this to be done. However heating engineer said they were no good and he would put big self venting valves in the roof. I can not climb into the roof but understand he put two in.
In the meantime we had the shutdown so work will be completed in the future namely he recommended to have a magnet in roof to clean out system.1. What do you think about the magnet?
In the meantime the radiators are worse then before. Hissing and one can hear the water gurgling very loud. The oil boiler is in the garage and the pump can be heard like a steam engine, very frightening. Have been going around to air the radiators but there is so much air in them I never get to the point were the water comes to the top as my back is starting to hurt with bending over.
Would be grateful for your advise. Will give him a ring but like to hear first what some of you think. Thank you.
A friend sent me this little video that made me smile - the music is infectious in the best possible way

Which Newspaper should I read?
As a family we have always read the Daily Mail . Dad's choice as head of the household even though he was always staunch Labour and lived in Labour council areas of Plumstead, Woolwich and Eltham. Years ago we had the Daily Sketch.
Now I'm thinking of a change of daily paper as the Mail is quite xenophobic.
I quitel like the I and the Observer on Sunday.

Has anyone cut their own hair yet? If so, I'd appreciate a few tips please.
I'll soon have to attempt to cut what's left of my hair. Doing the top won't be a problem as there isn't much up there and I can see it quite easily in the bathroom mirror. It's the back that's going to be tricky. I've tried a dummy run or two using my beard trimmer (turned off) and a mirror but it's so difficult to move the thing in the right direction. I think I may have to bite the bullet and just do it. A drop of Dutch courage beforehand may help. Or not. I won't be going out much anyway!
38 days when Britain sleepwalked into disaster
A shocking but, given what we already knew, unsurprising article from The Sunday Times.

Primrose Day is an unofficial observance held in Great Britain on April 19. It commemorates the anniversary of death of Benjamin Disraeli who twice served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Benjamin Disraeli served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom for several months in 1868 and then again from 1874 to 1880. Disraeli is known for having played a pivotal role in the establishment of the contemporary Conservative party. He is also remembered for his passionate speeches (although his maiden speech was laughed at) and influential voice in international affairs.
Disraeli died on April 19, 1881. The funeral was private as Disraeli's executors were afraid a public procession would gather too large crowds. Queen Victoria did not attend the funeral because the protocol forbade her to do so. However, she sent a wreath of primroses to the funeral with a note stating that the primrose was his favorite flower.
Primrose Day is not an official holiday in Great Britain, but it is a good occasion to honour the renowned British statesman. On April 19, some people wear primroses to pay tribute to Disraeli. The statue of Disraeli in Parliament Square, London is sometimes decorated with primroses as well.
Clarification of the lockdown rules:
(unashamedly stolen)
1. You MUST NOT leave the house for any reason, but if you have a reason, you can leave the house.
2. Masks are useless at protecting you against the virus, but you may have to wear one because it can save lives, but they may not work, but they may be mandatory, but maybe not.
3. Shops are closed, except those shops that are open.
4. You must not go to work but you can get another job and go to work.
5. You should not go to the Doctor's or to the hospital unless you have to go there, unless you are too poorly to go there.
6. This virus can kill people, but don’t be scared of it. It can only kill those people who are vulnerable or those people who are not vulnerable. It’s possible to contain and control it, sometimes, except that sometimes it actually leads to a global disaster.
7. Gloves won't help, but they can still help so wear them sometimes, or not.
8. STAY HOME, but it's important to go out.
9. There is no shortage of groceries in the supermarkets, but there are many things missing. Sometimes you won’t need loo rolls but you should buy some just in case you need some.
10. The virus has no effect on children except those children it affects.
11. Animals are not affected, but there was a cat that tested positive in Belgium in February when no one had been tested, plus a few tigers here and there…
12. Stay 2 metres away from tigers (see point 11).
13. You will have many symptoms if you get the virus, but you can also get symptoms without getting the virus, get the virus without having any symptoms or be contagious without having symptoms, or be non contagious with symptoms...it's a sort of lucky/unlucky dip.
14. To help protect yourself you should eat well and exercise, but eat whatever you have on hand as it's better not to go to the shops, unless you need toilet roll or a fence panel.
15. It's important to get fresh air but don't go to parks but go for a walk. But don’t sit down, except if you are old, but not for too long or if you are pregnant or if you’re not old or pregnant but need to sit down. If you do sit down don’t eat your picnic, unless you've had a long walk, which you are/aren't allowed to do if you're old or pregnant.
16. Don’t visit old people but you have to take care of the old people and bring them food and medication.
17. If you are sick, you can go out when you are better but anyone else in your household can’t go out when you are better unless they need to go out.
18. You can get restaurant food delivered to the house. These deliveries are safe. But groceries you bring back to your house have to be decontaminated outside for 3 hours including frozen pizza.
19. You can't see your older mother or grandmother, but they can take a taxi and meet an older taxi driver.
20. You are safe if you maintain the safe social distance when out but you can’t go out with friends or strangers at the safe social distance.
21. The virus remains active on different surfaces for two hours ... or four hours...or six hours... I mean days, not hours. But it needs a damp environment. Or a cold environment that is warm and dry... in the air, as long as the air is not plastic.
22. Schools are closed so you need to home educate your children, unless you can send them to school because you’re not at home. If you are at home you can home educate your children using various portals and virtual class rooms, unless you have poor internet, or more than one child and only one computer, or you are working from home. Baking cakes can be considered maths, science or art. If you are home educating you can include household chores within their education. If you are home educating you can start drinking at 10am.
23. If you are not home educating children you can also start drinking at 10am.
24. The number of corona related deaths will be announced daily but we don't know how many people are infected as they are only testing those who are almost dead to find out if that's what they will die of. The people who die of corona who aren’t counted, won’t or will be counted but maybe not.
25. We should stay in locked down until the virus stops infecting people but it will only stop infecting people if we all get infected so it’s important we get infected and some don’t get infected.
26. You can join your neighbours for a street party and turn your music up for an outside disco and your neighbours won’t call the police. People in another street are allowed to call the police about your music whilst also having a party which you are allowed to call the police about.
27. No business will go down due to Coronavirus except those businesses that will go down due to Coronavirus.
Hope that makes things clearer for you?
