Members are posting links that do not work. This can be avoided by testing the link before you post it. You should avoid links that require special access.

No doubt being driven away by the troublemakers and racists, the largest chat loop Anything is now only used by the same few members, some of whom are basically talking to themselves. Reading Scooploop's contents and not joining in, makes matters worse. The lack of activity may give the owner reason to not continue.

There are currently two politics loops, neither of which can be joined due to the absence of a moderator. If you would like to engage with other members that are already members of the active politics loop, then make your wish known below, and I'll see what I can do. The best thing to do, would be to have the unused politics loop activated, this would remove the advertisers, and the current members of the original loop can join the unused one. This will be only be attempted if the numbers interested warrant it.

If you have been using Scooploop for a long time, you will be aware of how many members are no longer around. Some of these will have passed away, but others have left or given up posting due to the recent influx of racists, trolls and stalkers. This has caused much blocking, resulting in many posts/comments not being visible.
We are all aware of the current position concerning staff and need for finance, and we can do our part by keeping the site active by using the available loops, some of which will avoid the aforementioned troublemakers. Don't forget to post/comment, or there will be nothing to read!

I am now a victim of the constant abuse posted by the constant trouble makers. The latest is RyanT, who is a complete idiot, and that is fact, not abuse. Below are two posts he made today. I await your apology @RyanT

I am being asked if it is possible to join the Politics loop - No, it is not. This is due to the absent moderator, and the way the loop has been set up. Some loops are not possible to join, and even if you could, you cannot post.

I see that clicking links is still causing members problems - you should click the link, not the image.

I am being asked if members of a loop can appoint a new moderator. This can only be done by an existing moderator, or, if they are no longer around, by Scooploop (Not possible at the moment). The disappearance of a moderator can cause a loop to no longer be active, due to the settings that the absent moderator has made.

In light of racist posts/comments, personal insults and trolling etc., in the Anything loop, all of which have not been dealt with by the moderator, the chat loop below has been set up with the cooperation of Scooploop who are aware of what is happening. Admission to the loop will take into account a member's posting history. There will also be invitations to join.

@maire It is not possible to remove a post in Politics, unless there were no comments, and then it would be by the poster.

@KristaLonsdale If you wish to return to a post, one way is to save it; this is available in the menu for the post.

Several things are going wrong at the moment; hopefully this is because of the promised new website.

This is Scooploop's position on racism:

'We would like to take a moment to remind our community that we do not accept racism in any form on this platform. Anything we view as being racist will be removed and the users who have posted such views risk suspension.

Racism includes name calling, prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism, by individuals towards certain ethnic or racial groups. It also includes derogatory comments aimed at specific groups of people, and stereotyping of people based on their physical appearance.

We would also like to remind loop moderators that they are responsible for maintaining Scooploop's standards of behaviour within their loops.'

As Scooploop's staff are nowhere to be seen, this is the responsibility of @CliveF who is the moderator of the Anything loop where this happens. All members can do is to block these members and remove them from their loops if they are the moderator. I have done this, and have also blocked/removed trolls.

Some moderators are unaware of the function of the 'Bubble post' setting. If you have this set to too few a number of days, then someone's comment made at a latter time will be seen by only the original poster and anyone that commented before that number of days.

I am getting/seeing lots of questions about moderators - here is how it works:

1. You can become a moderator by creating a loop*.
2. A member of a loop can make you a moderator.
3. You cannot make yourself a moderator of a loop that you belong to.
4. Scooploop can make you a moderator of a loop where the moderator is absent*.

The way a loop works is decided by the moderator. If a moderator is no longer around, then you may be unable to post or join.

* Not possible at the moment due to the absence of staff.

Not sure if this is the right place to post.
Desktop no longer working for emails. Ok on tablet. Says not connecting, try again now but just goes round and round, can see the emails but can't access them. Have removed mains plug and left awhile this afternoon but still no joy. As mentioned can use this tablet so can't be broadband? Any suggestions, please, thanks. Might not be able to respond speedily!

If you have had trouble blocking someone, it has now been fixed.

Many members have disappeared from Scooploop. Given that the average age of a Scooploop member is over 70, it may be that they have passed on. To make members aware, you could let a family member/trusted friend know your log in details, and show them what you would like them to do.

The inability to block a member will be sorted out in a week or so.

If using a loop's search facility to find a post, clicking on the result will not take you to the post if it is too old. To overcome this, click on the comments icon, even if there are no comments. This is sometimes due to a moderator not understanding one of the settings.

Due to a new bug, you may not be able to block someone; this will depend on who the member is.

There are various faults with the apps, and these cannot be corrected. You can overcome these by using a browser. The website is a far better way to use Scooploop.

Said something you wish you hadn't!? If so, you can only delete it if the thread still exists; if the thread is deleted, then your comments are still available in the search facility.

I have seen it mentioned that 'There is already a thread about this'
If the poster of the existing thread has blocked the member, then as far as the 'duplicate' poster is concerned, that thread does not exist and it's contents are useless to them.
