Argos to scrap two man deliveries.
Some people think I'm obsessed with wokery or wokeness, but all the time the Wokes keep calling ouit things that don't matter or things that offend them but they demand everyone else be offended, then I will keep calling them out.
But I will let the stories in the weblinks speak for themselves.

GB News was partially owned by Discovery Warner Bros. They just sold their share for £60m to Sir Paul Marshall and Dubai based investment company, The Legatum Group.
Other GB News, last week they had better viewing figures than Sky news every day and even beat the BBC News channel on one day.
They have also employed Michael Portillo, Andrew Pierce (Daily Mail columnist) and Camilla Tominey (Telegraph editor) as new presenters. -

Covid vaccination (Edited)
I have just read that - due to age - I will be offered a fifth Covid jab in September and I am really not sure how I feel about it. Preferably with no input from the flu-believers, what do others think. I have to admit I'm feeling it's a bit over-load on my system.

To those of you helping me help cats in need. More than ever abandoned, unwanted, abused! Many people selling underage kittens taking them away from their mum and siblings at 3 or 4 or 5 weeks old giving them to children who get bored with them in no time and most of the time have no idea about their needs.
Few people are aware they live 15/20 years and should be kept that length of time as loved and spoiled family members.
Many people are not aware of vets costs and few take their kittens and cats for check ups and treatments and neutering. Many cats are not provided water outside. Non plastic and non metal containers asking for too much…Few people give their pets best quality food. Few people inform themselves of ingredients contents and few can afford good quality. The outcome can be cats acquiring preventable costly health issues. Many unwanted /abandoned cats have health issues.
The consequences end up problematic for rescues inundated with pets and many on waiting lists.
Picking up the pieces from irresponsible pet owners is costly as well as constant hard work. So your help is very much appreciated. No local fosterers and rarely local adoptions keep travelling expenses higher and is time consuming.
Thank you for your help -

Thames Water customers - Temporary Use Ban in effect from 24 August 2022
Thames Water has finally announced that its Temporary Use Ban on domestic water use will come into effect in just under a week's time, after midnight next Tuesday night.
Its press release this morning says that,
"Domestic customers should not use hosepipes for cleaning cars, watering gardens or allotments, filling paddling pools and swimming pools and cleaning windows" and
"While the TUB does not cover businesses, Thames Water is asking businesses across its area to be mindful of the drought and to use water wisely, for example, by not washing commercial vehicles or turning off water features on their properties."
None of those restrictions is expressed in mandatory terms and there's no mention of fines or penalties, so it's not clear what sanctions (if any) any breach may attract.

"FASD is a life-long condition that can affect a child's brain development, behaviour and growth. It's caused by a developing unborn baby (fetus) being exposed to alcohol in the womb. Sadly, in the UK, as many as 1 in 13 babies born to mothers who drink during their pregnancy are affected by FASD"
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/foetal-alcohol-spectrum-disorder/
It is vital to every family you know about this, and spread the word.
Have you heard of FASD? -
A man suffered a serious heart attack while shopping in a store. The store clerk called 911 when they saw him collapse to the floor. The paramedics rushed the man to the nearest hospital where he had emergency open heart bypass surgery. He awakened from the surgery to find himself in the care of nuns at the Catholic Hospital. A nun was seated next to his bed holding a clipboard loaded with several forms, and a pen.
She asked him how he was going to pay for his treatment. `Do you have health insurance?` she asked.
He replied in a raspy voice, "No health insurance."
The nun asked, "Do you have money in the bank?"
He replied, "No money in the bank."
"Do you have a relative who could help you with the payments?" asked the irritated nun.
He said, "I only have a spinster sister and she is a nun."
The nun became agitated and announced loudly, "Nuns are not spinsters! Nuns are married to God."
The patient replied, "Perfect. Send the bill to my brother-in-law." -
Gangster. After a thorough investigation, a rich gangster finds out that his bookkeeper has cheated him out of $10 million bucks. His bookkeeper is deaf and that was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that a deaf bookkeeper would not hear anything that he might have to testify about in court.
When the mobster goes to confront the bookkeeper about his missing $10 million, he brings along his attorney, who knows sign language.
The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the $10 million bucks he embezzled from me is."
The attorney, using sign language, asks the bookkeeper: "Where is the money?”
The bookkeeper signs back: "I don't know what you are talking about."
The attorney tells the gangster: "He says he doesn't know what you're talking about."
The gangster pulls out a pistol, puts it to the bookkeeper's temple and says, "Ask him again!"
The attorney signs to the bookkeeper: 'He'll kill you if you don't tell him!’
The bookkeeper signs back: "OK! OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed in my cousin Enzo's backyard in Queens!"
The Godfather asks the attorney: "Well, what'd he say?"
"He says you don't have the guts to pull the trigger!" -

Massive fire in nature reserve probably caused by a disposable barbecue . . .
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-dorset-62532328 I think the wretched things should be banned altogether - some fool using one was responsible for 55 acres of Cumbrian fellside being burned a couple of years ago, and a friend who lives near Coniston tells me the lake shore is littered with them in the summer because people don't want to put them back in their cars so they just leave them behind.

The online abuse directed at healthworkers (Edited)

Read this and be thoughtful about how things are being run today.
Copied from elsewhere but doesn’t half make you think.
So... let me get this straight:
* British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June
* BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone
* Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year
The MEN at the top:
* John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary
* Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits
* Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m
* Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m.
* E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m
* EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m
* And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m
* Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package
* Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000
* Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m
* Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary
Meanwhile there are...
* People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it.
* People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity.
* Children celebrating a birthday without presents.
* Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective.
* People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore.
* People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills.
* People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt.
* Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud!
* Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday.
* Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!!
All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October...
THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits ..I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others..
Something needs to change..
Why are customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us?
I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money.....
Copied & pasted from others.
Keep this going around for all to see. This discussion is now closed.

In January I posted about a supposed electricity saving device, much to the amusement of certain members, I promised at that time to report back on my findings, good or bad, so to keep that promise I give below the results that have been achieved.
We cook and use domestic appliances, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer, and lighting by electricity and have made no effort to adjust our use in anyway.
The usage figures for the last 6 months and the last 6 years history for the period Feb to July in kWh’s are as follows :-
Year Usage % Variation
2016 2435 +9.98
2017 2072 -6.41
2018 2139 -3.39
2019 2267 +2.39
2020 2317 +4.65
2021 2057 -7.09
Mean 2214
2022 1724 -22.13
You will note that the largest variation from the mean usage (2214) for this period over the last 6 years is 9.98% but for the year 2022 since the introduction of the “saving devices” it has become -22.13%, over double any previously recorded figure, and that over a summer heatwave which has required the use of three fans for up to 16/18 hours a day which is unusual for us.
Based on these figures and at my contracted tariff of 18.95p/kWh I would save £109+ VAT per year, IF I were on the current variable tariff of 65.47p/kWh I would save £677 + VAT per year.
These are the facts, I leave it up to the reader to draw whatever conclusion that they wish or if they wish to dispute the issue by providing a convincing explanation.
Finally I have just received a notification from my supplier that I should REDUCE my monthly payment by £15 to keep my account in balance. What I do know is that I shall retain the devices until the figures tell me otherwise, and that I will be ignoring the experts. This discussion is now closed.

Beware the latest fraud against innocent property owners (Edited)
This is the second awful scam, targeting the homes of innocent strangers, which the BBC's Shari Vahl has managed to uncover in recent months: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-62494987?fbclid=IwAR3Af9GT73cuspLuY4VEn4Vv4pQXLT-ZLaXUEq0DDdqzdBWwrxaowOeD6Dc
Exposing the idiotic absence of any verification procedures at Companies House when a new company is registered, so that a fraud can claim that the company is based at a stranger's address without providing any verification at all, makes the British company system look extremely foolish and very vulnerable to fraud.
Getting one's address off the Register of Companies in these circumstances has been made extraordinarily difficult and time-consuming. Meantime, the new company and its fraudulent founders are free - indeed, they're being constantly invited by banks - to set up new bank accounts, run up overdrafts and incur debts which the banks assume can be recovered from the owner of the property at which the company has been fraudulently registered.
There's a White Paper proposing reforms to Companies House systems but that's six months old and apparently there's been no progress on implementing its recommendations at all. Meantime, the fraudsters are registering literally dozens of new companies daily.
So please don't ignore, or just return to sender, any strange letters addressed to an unfamiliar person or company at your home address. Open them up and take rapid action to stop this abuse continuing. -
