The London Tube Should Take Priority For ULEZ Compliance. (Edited)
The millions of people who travel by tube daily are subjected to far worse air pollution than those travelling by car or bus, cycling or walking.
https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/news-and-advice/london-underground-air-pollution-tube-lung-cancer-heart-disease-a9225716.html
Would it not be more sensible to make it a priority that the London Underground is compliant to ULEZ standards? -

Pleasant Surprise from Virgin Media
I have been with Virgin ever since they took over from NTL - a long time.
In that time I have had two cable boxes.
Virgin have just sent me a letter saying my cable box is rather old and wish to renew it at no cost - I said yes.
So I will now be getting their current cable box TV360 fitted and set up for for free.
A really good deal - I am with Virgin for TV, phone and Broadband Internet.
Confirmation is - new TV360 cable box fitted and set up FOC and they have removed the previous TiVo box monthly fee.
New monthly bundle fee covering around 100 channels = £55 per month.
I consider that a very considerate deal by Virgin. -

I'm seeing placards saying Doctor's pay is £14 per hour - which is appalling - and this might sound like the most stupid question but what is that based on, i.e. a 40-hour week or what? This isn't meant to be controversial but my non-mathematical mind just can't work it out, sorry.

I am absolutely incensed by the fact that there is no longer anywhere locally I can park in a designated car park as I don't have a smart phone. I cannot shop at Sainsbury's (which is a large public car-park behind the actual store which houses the trolleys, etc. and is known as Sainsbury's car park although not exclusive to), in Hayes or West Wickham High Streets or general car park off. Not that I have been there but I gather parking which used to be 70p is now 90p and there is no longer the facility to put money in for twenty minutes, has to be the hour. One car park (very close to me) has been closed for building to start for 30+ units (2 parking spots and a cycle bay), how on earth do they expect local businesses to flourish with all these new restrictions. A lot of people are aged or just cannot walk with heavy bags to their cars - should they be able to find a spot on nearby residential roads (without yellow lines) to park which is unlikely.
Makes me so angry, this 'I'm alright Jack, it's progress' attitude. -

When the seat you reserved is occupied
Apparently this is a debate on twitter. A man booked a train ticket and also paid the extra to reserve a seat. When he got on the train a woman was sitting in his reserved seat. Her friend was sitting next to her. He asked her to move as he had reserved the seat. She said, "can't you sit somewhere else as I am sitting with my friend". The man got more insistent that she move. Then other passengers joined in taking the side of the woman saying she doesn't have to move as she was there first.
So who has priority, the person already seated or the person who pre-booked that seat? -

There is a petition against this which has already garnered 160,000 plus signatures and the originator of the petition (Marion Veal) is seeking more signatures so that she has powerful evidence when she meets the Director General of the BBC shortly. Ultra Low Emission Zone - Expansion Programme - Right or Wrong?
"A London council says it will block the installation of Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) cameras in the borough.
The move comes as Transport for London (TfL) plans to expand the ULEZ scheme to all of the capital from August.
Sutton Lib Dems, who lead Sutton Council, argue the scheme, which charges some drivers of the most polluting cars £12.50 per day, is unfair to its residents.
A London mayor's spokesman says "toxic air is a matter of life and death".
ULEZ aims to reduce pollution and congestion in London, but some residents in Sutton say they rely more heavily on cars and buses to get around, as it does not have any London Underground or Overground services.
TfL owns 5% of London's road network, with the majority being owned by local councils. Individual boroughs must give permission to TfL to install the 2,750 cameras needed for the expansion of ULEZ.
'Sending a strong signal'
Sutton Liberal Democrats said: "We are concerned that the costs will be shouldered by people already struggling to get by in a difficult time, including small business owners and key workers."
The party is calling for TfL to introduce a more comprehensive scrappage scheme, provide more time for people to change to compliant vehicles, and increase the number of buses and trams in Sutton.
"We are taking this step to send a strong signal to the mayor that he must start listening to local people."

Another scam!! Anyone else had this one? (Edited)
Guy phones you, very business like and brusque, saying he`s Sergeant whatever, even gives a (spurious) badge number from Scotland Yard. Says there`s been fraudulent activity on your account. A quick check online will assure you that isn`t true,or ring your bank to assure yourself-I did. Don`t give him any details. He may know your name and address but anyone can get most people`s from a directory or the voters register and many other places. I don`t even confirm they have the right person if it`s someone I don`t know-even if they say it`s the police! He says, "ring the Police on 161 if you prefer" -this website says it`s a hotel... https://who-called.co.uk/Number/161#caller-id
I can see how this would panic some people into calling 161 and getting scammed. -

Wet cat and kitten food urgently needed!
More and more cats let down by previous owners in need of help.
Never one day goes by without being asked to help with abandoned cats, unwanted cats that become strays or feral. Catching them and taking them to the vet’s is one thing but feeding them after either placed back where found or at fosterers’ is a big challenge. Usually i go to a warehouse up North once a month to collect food donations with a hired van and today was to be the day. Sadly a few days ago a message announced that there would not be anything available today Tuesday. I feed approximately 100 cats mostly wet food as dry food is not always suitable. Feeders and most fosterers are given food regularly but right now it is a serious problem.
Very grateful to those who have helped to whatever degree with donations to my vet’s or directly to me or via Suzy P who has done her best to fund raise.
Equity release i took out to help as many cats as i can is coming to the end soon.
Transport is a big expense.
Other items also needed add to the expenses.
But at present help with cat and kitten wet food much needed.
Thank you again for the kind donations received monthly that usually help with flea and worm treatments.
Fosterers and five star homes always needed. Some cats would be happy with access to outbuildings and good quality food.
I specialise in matching kitties and new owners rather than the kitties being chosen for their looks.
Big thank you to those of you who help me help kitties in need.
Busy non stop i rarely find the time to communicate here how my rescue work is getting on. It is a never ending challenge. Long Covid not helping me with getting on with too many tasks 7 days a week!
Please be generous to kitties let down by people! The pic shows where i am retrieving around 30 cats from a very unsuitable filthy dirty house… -

Sorry, unable to find the original post.
Food safety watchdogs have issued a warning over the potential risk posed by a batch of Pennard Red Goats Cheese.
The recall comes after health chiefs announced last week that a Briton had died from listeria in an outbreak linked to contaminated cheeses.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has told the public not to eat the affected goats cheese, made by the Somerset Cheese Company.
The cheesemaker describes the product as full-flavoured, with a sweet and nutty taste and the appearance of a Red Leicester. -

Vets Costs - A Disgraceful Professional Scam
I have recently been involved with a friend who had to have her dog attended to and then later her pet parrot.
The dog cost her around £300 plus and the parrot around the same. £100 for an overnight stay ! At the London Hilton ? No, just a vets back room, unattended !
The cost of having the privileged pleasure of owning a pet and ensuring its medical health in todays world of veterinary sharks is atrocious. We are at the mercy of greedy individuals who have no feeling for either the animals or their poor owners and have this compelling idea that they should earn the same salaries as NHS doctors and consultants.
It is about time the Government legislated a limited pricing policy for the veterinary profession.
As stated in the Vet Futures report, veterinary salary packages range from £31,150 for newly qualified vets to £69,021 for vets qualified more than 20 years. This is surprising to some, who imagine veterinary and human medical earnings to be comparable. Hospital consultants earn a basic salary of £75,249 to £101,451, depending on length of service.
Here is some reading providing an insight to this legalised robbery -
