TV doctor Michael Mosley missing on a Greek island
TV doctor Michael Mosley went missing while on holiday in Symi, Greece, after failing to return from a walk.
A search and rescue team with advanced equipment is expected to arrive from Athens to assist in the search.
Mosley is known for his appearances on British TV shows, his work as a columnist, and his contributions to diet and exercise documentaries, including the invention of the 5:2 diet.
He has four children with his wife, Clare Bailey Mosley, also a doctor and author.
The couple recently attended the Hay Festival, where Mosley presented a special edition of his podcast.

Overshadowed by the election?
I am sure (or hope) that many of us have volunteered during our lives, but it appears the celebration of it has been almost forgotten this year by the media.
When I volunteered we had a treat, not a party as such during that week.
Do you volunteer? Did you celebrate -

e.g. younger men have a bigger [ smaller?] problem than you'd expect... -
Although it was 80 years ago I can remember is as if it were yesterday, despite being almost 13 years old at the time.
I lived on the SE coast at the time and we awoke to the sound of aircraft engines and on looking out there were aircraft from horizon to horizon, formation upon formation, all heading out to the sea. It was clear that something very big was going on long before the announcement on the radio. What was amazing was that this stream of aeroplanes continued throughout the day until dusk, it seemed impossible that we could have so many aeroplanes.
Being so young I was unaware of the full impact of what was going on and that while I wondered at what I was seeing, only a few miles away men were being killed in their thousands, it takes time to come to a full understanding. -

May 2024's average mean UK temperature of 13.1C (55.5F) beat 2008's previous record figure of 12.1C in a series which dates back to 1884, making the month the warmest on record.
This was because it was cloudy most nights and the temperature didn't drop much.

“It was miraculous.
It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice.
Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all.
It merely required no character.”

Our food - what you should know
By chance I listened to a TV discussion. --- Not only have the Supermarkets reduced the weight on products but “changed” some of the ingredients.
Example: Olive oil margarine less olive oil more cheaper oils --- Heinz baked beans less beans more tomato juice to make up the weight.
Advice “do not buy change product” How can we change if like me did not even know or remembered the ingredients from products previous --just thinking does not taste the same. as was the comments from people interviewed.
At one time there were lots of consumer programs pointing out changes, have not seen any lately on TV Did they receive backhanders not to advertise?
Would be nice to know if you mention in commend if you were aware if the situation and if you know of products where ingredients have changed. -

Keir Starmer - does he secretly use private healthcare? (Edited)
In the leaders debate Keir Starmer said, "I don't use private healthcare, I only use the NHS". And said something about his wife being a nurse.
You all know I like watching a bit of GBNews because on most of the programmes you do get a balanced debate even if most of the presenters are to the right politically. But last night on the Patrick Christys show one of the panellists was making some pathetic statements to prove that Keir Starmer does go private.
The guy named Mark Littlewood from the Popular Conservatives said "has Starmer never bought medicines over the counter at a pharmacy? Has he never paid £7 for a packet of paracetemols? That is private healthcare. He is lying to say he only uses the NHS".
Rebecca Reid, the lefty on the panel, hit back by saying "who would pay £7 for paracetemol, they are 42p. And that the questions in the debate were about hospital in-patient healthcare. That he (Mark Littlewood) was trying to create a scenario to prove Keir Starmer was lying". -

This piece is more than three months old, says the Guardian, but I don’t imagine things have improved. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/feb/25/they-bite-they-hit-they-spit-patients-assault-staff-at-nottingham-hospital I suspect that people spending hour after hour watching onscreen vileness and violence is to blame - they begin to lose touch with what most people would regard as normal life. The people who do that don’t tend to be among the brightest to start off with.

Boeing's Starliner launches astronauts for 1st time in historic liftoff
Boeing's Starliner, carrying astronauts Barry Wilmore and Suni Williams, successfully launched into space from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station on June 5. This marks a significant milestone in NASA's commercial crew program after two decades of planning.
Wilmore and Williams, both experienced astronauts and former U.S.
Navy test pilots, will spend approximately eight days at the International Space Station, conducting various tests to certify the Starliner for operational crew missions.
The spacecraft is scheduled to rendezvous with the ISS on June 6.
