The husband goes into the bathroom and finds a dead horse in the bath,
"Darling," he calls, "there's a dead horse in the bath."
"So" she says, "I never said I was tidy."

Just reading the comment of how people going about their normal day were surrounded and held and the police ignoring their reports is disgraceful. Saying their investigation is ongoing is a nonsense . Turning a blind eye is the truth
A man goes into pub and invites the landlord to give him free drinks if he can entertain his customers to stay all night.
He gets a hamster out of his pocket and puts it on the piano at the end of the bar.
Immediately the hamster runs up and down the keyboard and produces a superb selection of pop, classical and country music.
The customers are entranced, word gets round quickly, and the pub is crowded out.
"Fantastic" says the landlord, is there anything else the hamster does?"
The man produces a parrot, and sets it on top of the piano.
The audience is now silent and expectant.
The hamster strikes a key - starts to play, and the parrot delivers the most amazing repertoire of arias, pop hits, classic Sinatra and more.
The landlord is delighted.
"I must have these animals - will you sell them to me please!"
The man shakes his head.
"Will you sell one of them please!!"
"OK, I'll sell you the parrot for five thousand pounds".
The landlord is delighted and quickly goes to his safe and brings back the cash.
The man says good-bye with a touching farewell to the parrot, and leaves.
As he goes outside a customer says to him " you're a bit stupid parting with that parrot"?
"No I'm not" the man replies, "the hamster's a ventriloquist"!
The word that was invented quite recently to define when a food product has been made smaller but the price remains the same, or even increases.
I was a victim of shrinkflation on Saturday. My sister asked me to pick up two smoked salmon fillets in Sainsburys . I bought the pack that said on the label, "2 boneless smoked salmon fillets". When she visited and took the salmon out of my fridge she said, "there's only one salmon". I said, "the label says two, and there's no way anyone can undo the packaging and take one out without it being obvious. Lets open the pack and get it out". That's when we realised what crafty thing Sainsburys have done. What was a single salmon fillet has been cut in half lengthways to create two fillets. But still paying the price of two normal size pieces of salmon.
I vaguely remember there was a discussion on here before about this. I had one in my last abode which was fine. Due to various problems caused by the fitter who did both kitchen and bathroom here, I can't have a drinking tap installed in the granite worktop. Shower head which is the size of a breakfast plate now is only delivering water through half the holes. I've had a friend unscrew and take it down a couple of times for cleaning but it's now happening very regularly and I can't keep asking people to get it down for me. It's situated about 4" from the ceiling (the plumber was 6'4) on a pipe that comes out of the wall.
Would anyone know if it's possible to extend the pipework and lower the shower head - one plumber says yes and another says not without going into the wall through the tiles.
Also, did I read that there is an attachment that can be put on pipework that softens water without having a salt-unit put in.
Apologies for ramble.
Only blacks allowed to watch theatre play.
It's to protect them from the white gaze. This is reverse racism. If a theatre put on a play and said only white people can attend, there would be uproar.

Should parking at your local shops be chargeable from the time you park?
The local council in Bushey, Herts are stopping their "first hour free" system of parking and are introducing a charge of £1 for the first hour and raising charges for subsequent hours.
How damaging do you feel this could be to the local shops?
Would you feel that if you are paying a fee then you may as well go to a larger shopping area where there is probably more choice and perhaps lower prices?
Do you feel that the new pricing system is likely to damage the local economy?
I'm not picking on Bushey in particular as it's happening in many places and I'm just looking for general views on paying perhaps £2 for some milk but having to pay £1 to be able to park to buy it.

Al Jazeera are streets ahead...
...when it comes to reporting on the Gaza conflict
That was the headline in a very article in yesterdays I newspaper. I can't find online.
Al Jazeera are the only tv news channel with journalists reporting from inside Gaza and Israel. Giving reports from both perspectives.
Other English speaking news channels only have reporters in Israel or in neighbouring countries, so their reporting has an Israeli bias.
At least 3 Al Jazeera employees have been killed by Israel air strikes or snipers.

How many Speaking voices do you have?
I've been laughing because my son rang me and was obviously in work mode on the telephone due to his words and voice. He also has my mum's side of family mode and his other nanas west Indian side mode.
Made me think of myself and realised I have various speaking voices, both pronunciation and vocabulary that I use. I have work mode, normal (common)mode and I also have dad's family mode. I didn't realise this until my kids remarked when with dad's family my gypsy accent is more pronounced and I use words they don't understand!

Chanting and clapping as the body of Alexei Navalny arrived for his funeral. The crowd outside the church where the service is taking place have continued sending their message whilst the police are so far taking no overt action.
The crowd have also chanted "No to war", "we will never forget" and "murderers", any of which could result in action bring taken against the chanters. Of course it is illegal to use the word "war" in Russia when referring to Ukraine.
It's making me wonder if Putin is now regretting his murderous actions, as the world's press is watching and reporting on the scenes in Moscow. Undoubtedly many of the crowd will suffer for what they are now doing, but there will still be other Russians across their nation who could now feel empowered to get an underswell moving against Putin.

Asians are being tricked into fighting for Russia.
I know the BBC headline says Indians, but this was also on Al Jazeera this morning. Their reporter said most of the men being recruited as Russian army helpers are from Sri Lanka or Nepal. The thought they were helping inside Russia but are now being pushed into the front line.

Mary Poppins - Hottentot News.
"Nearly 60 years after its release, “Mary Poppins” has been reclassified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) because it features “discriminatory language,” the BBC reported.
The film, which stars Julie Andrews in the titular role, has been raised from a U rating (synonymous to a G rating) to a PG rating. The change is due to the film’s usage of “Hottentot,” a derogatory term for the Khoikhoi — the traditionally nomadic pastoralist indigenous population of South Africa — originally used by Dutch settlers. The term is said twice by Admiral Boom, who first mentions it while conversing with one of the Banks children, and then uses it as a descriptor for the chimney sweeps with soot-covered faces.
“We understand from our racism and discrimination research…that a key concern for…parents is the potential to expose children to discriminatory language or behavior which they may find distressing or repeat without realizing the potential offense,” a BBFC spokesperson told the Daily Mail. “Content with immediate and clear condemnation is more likely to receive a lower rating.”
The rating change only affects the cinema version of the film. The home entertainment versions are still rated U, according to the BBFC."

Just had an interesting email regarding the term Global Majoritythat they adopted last year. It is to replace ethnicity terms .Quote
"We use global majority in place of other terms you may have heard of, are currently using, or have previously used. This includes terms such as BAME (Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic), BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour), and ethnic minorities".
Looking online, I see lots of places taking it up , with one replacing BAME with GEM for Global Ethnic Majority.
I honestly cannot keep up with correct terminology
