Which pasta shapes cook the best?
Sometimes my sister will ask me what pasta I have, or can I get some because she wants to come here and make a pasta dish.
But last week she said that Penne cooks better than Rigatoni because Penne keeps its shape and firmness whereas the Rigatoni goes soft and get flattened. For her Conchigle and Fusilli are the best ones to cook.
So I've been told not to buy Rigatoni.
England have qualified for the Semi-Final
Not the football yet, the cricket T20 world cup.
They have just beaten the host nation USA by 10 wickets.
USA 116 all out. England 117 for 0 in 9 overs.
Highlight of the match, Chris Jordan, the first England player to take a hat-trick in international T20 cricket on the ground where he watched matches growing up.

And that’s what he does with it
...about beer glasses.
Proper beer glasses, the ones with a beer brand name on, have a small disc in the bottom of the glass. When the beer is poured something in the disc causes the beer to continuously form bubbles and not go flat. When the disc stops doing that, it is time to throw the glass into the recycling.
My nephew told me that. But I told him something he didn't know. That IPA stands for Indian Pale Ale.

Typical Reform Voter
An email today from Scottish Power
"Good news! We recently carried out a health check on your account and, based on our best estimate, we believe that you’re paying more than you need to for your energy. To make sure our estimate is accurate, we recommend providing us with up-to-date meter readings." (There was a nice yellow box marked: "Enter meter readings")
Why on earth do they want me to send a meter reading when they get actual data from my Smart Meter? By the time it would take to read it and send it, it would be out of date against what they can press a button to see! How ridiculous"
It went on to say"
"We want to help you avoid overpaying and get your account back in good shape. Based on our estimate, we recommend you decrease your Direct Debit using our online Direct Debit Manager tool. You can review and adjust your monthly payments to see the impact it will have on your expected balance at your next payment review."
My account is in good shape, there is no need to get it back to that position. They have today reduced my monthly payment by £101, leaving me still in credit.
It's not a particularly smart system they are running!
Grrrr!

Rhod Gilbert laughter and tears
My friend took me to see the comedian whilst we were in York and I admit to shedding tears, both laughter and sadness ones!
His tour ,Rhod Gilbert and the giant grapefruit is an honest, gruelling but genuinely funny account of his cancer battle with stage 4 head and neck cancer, caused by the HPV virus. Showing photos along the way, his passion for life shone through. He involved audience members with their cancer stories and was honestly an inspiration.
One of the most sad parts for me was watching him constantly need water, as the treatment had killed his saliva glands, plus watching him adjust his new hearing aids as he went along as his hearing was damaged.
Loved ,loved, loved the show and I went from not knowing who he was to a fan overnight!

I think there’s an awful lot of these about
Been up north for a few days and had the brilliant experience of a day at Eden Camp. I found it very moving to think that actual prisoners of war were kept there. The huts with set scenes not only looked good but also had distinct smells added, plus hear from the smoke depicting blitz fires.I came out and had trouble getting the smells out of my head (and nose). Wonderful day with so much history. Was quite emotional in the hall as they were playing Vera Lynn and a group of older visitors was sat singing along

Reform Parties Exit from Election Success
Nigel Farage has shot himself and his party in the foot with his pro-Putin comments, although in essence he is probably spot on. But with only a few days to the General Election and Putin's brutal war crimes performance he has committed electoral suicide.

With just under 2 weeks to go for the General Election on Thursday, 4 July 2024,
it looks a certainty that Sunak and the Tories will be annihilated. Latest polls are showing Labour, Reform, Tory in that order.
It looks highly likely we will have a coalition Government.

I've heard of Taylor Swift often, probably heard some of her music, but I could not name a single song she has written and performed.
I like classic music, the 60's were/are the good times, and I'm enjoying watching "The Proclaimers" on iPlayer this week.
Is this normal?
Games -- what is your opinion?
IMO word games are fun and the aim is to get our brain cells working, learn new words or refresh the ones we forgotten and see if we can think of more words. However in one group they always closed down at least for me too early and I have requested to open again but advised I could start my own. I will be posting in pastime and hope some of you will participate.
