Disabled photographers at the Paralympics
There's a lot that's depressing about modern life but one of the things to set against that is the way that, sometimes, people aren't written off in a way they once would have been. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/sep/09/defying-expectations-amazing-paralympic-photographers-with-disabilities

Very much those of you who contributed to last monthly donations collected by Suzy P to the amount of £276.
This has gone towards the vet bill for an abandoned cat dental treatment that at rescue rate came to £450.
I feed the cats mostly wet food as good quality as i can though dry cheaper but not specially healthy for many.
The cat situation is worse each day with more people abandoning their pets cats mostly. This week two adorable kittens and mum in a deep ditch on a main road amongst piles of dumped rubbish an example.
Not enough rescue spaces for all, only for a small fraction.
Never one day without being asked to help some cats in need.
Many people cant afford vets’ fees and/or good quality pet food.
I am desperate for fosterers and best possible forever homes for cats and pairs of kittens.
I used to make reports with pictures about the cats but not enough hours in days and nights to get on with all tasks.
Long Covid still not helping.
Neighbours who vandalised garden cat room and CCTV and more not helping either.
Life is too much of a challenge as it is but when you do your best to help out as many cats in need as possible no words to describe it…
So forever moaning!
My rewards are 5 star rehoming and kind suitable foster helpers.
And of course financial help as low as it might be, it all adds up.
Thanks again! -

https://uk.yahoo.com/news/pay-per-mile-scheme-road-tax-uk-153435046.html
If we wouldn't be paying road tax as well then I'd be ok with it as we don't do much mileage per year and doubt we would have to pay more than road tax costs us now (depends, of course, on how much the cost per mile is)
It would be hard on rural communities where a car is essential for every day living.

Transwoman loses running race to blind woman
Transwoman paralympian Valentina Petrillo, biologically male, ran unaided in the T12 400m, and lost to a tiny girl who needed a guide runner.
If he can't even run faster than a disabled girl, he must have been useless against male athletes.

These small meters are used for individual home measurement of blood glucose by diabetics. Mine was supplied free by my doctor and is a Fine Test Lite. It measures in units of mmol/litre. HbA1c as used by the doctor and hospital is measured in units of mmol/mol. These are the regular British units.
The meter reading of mmol/l is no use as a check when the medical people use HbA1c in mmol/mol.
So a conversion is needed.
1. Take the meter reading in mmol/l.
2, See - https://www.accu-chek.co.uk/tools/hba1c-calculator
3. Enter the meter reading in the box "Average blood glucose" of the "HbA1c Calculator" and click "Calculate".
4. Your HbA1c reading in mmol/mol is then shown in the IFCC box.
Then look up on the image below to see how your HbA1c is doing. Ignore the % scale. -

Suffering, as I do, from poor balance, particularly when bending, as well as a lack of flexibility, I have difficulty cleaning the shower cabinet.
I have a powered bath brush but can anyone recommend a good, preferably spray, effective cleaner that will remove limescale and black mould?. -

Needing to clear some rubbish, biggish rugs, microwave, garden trellis and stuff, and odd bits and pieces and gone are my days of trotting off to the tip. Rubbish clearance firms need you to take a photo of what there is, which means getting them all together in a pile to begin with and I'm only a third-way through. The smallest skip is about £219, plus fridges, freezers or microwaves not allowed, next size up is into £300s.
Hippo bag (size takes a bath and sanitary ware), with 20% off till end of August is £184, smaller size (90 cm sq) would be £152, plus hopefully can leave it down the sideway to fill and drag outside, hopefully with help, when collection time comes and to save everyone else filling it. For the extra £30 I'm leaning towards the bigger one.
Anybody used a Hippo bag, please? -
