Tik Tok...The Mouse Ran Up The Clock!
While in office in 2020, Trump signed an executive order that effectively banned the use of the social media platform in the United States.
He's had a change of heart, since, however, and in March 2024, Trump reversed his position.
Trump now says that despite concerns over privacy and alleged Chinese spying, the First Amendment issues involved with banning the platform are "sweeping and troubling."
Who could possibly gain from this complete turnaround? -

We do not have an Asda close by but, we visited one near Christmas and saw their incompetence in not providing staff ‘on the floor’ or at tills at the busiest times.
Ridiculous lengths of queues, for self service tills, no one available to assist customers who may have needed help packing or carrying shopping . -
Farage, yet again making everything about him
Workers rights bill and all he sees is that he might not be able to sh*stir down the pub 😂 in case it upsets bar staff?? So he says it’s about freedom of speech
As usual locals ask when he will arrive in Clacton without arranging a photo shoot 😂

At the top of the house the apples are laid in rows,
And the skylight lets the moonlight in, and those
Apples are deep-sea apples of green. There goes
A cloud on the moon in the autumn night.
A mouse in the wainscot scratches, and scratches, and then
There is no sound at the top of the house of men
Or mice; and the cloud is blown, and the moon again
Dapples the apples with deep-sea light.
They are lying in rows there, under the gloomy beams;
On the sagging floor; they gather the silver streams
Out of the moon, those moonlit apples of dreams,
And quiet is the steep stair under.
In the corridors under there is nothing but sleep.
And stiller than ever on orchard boughs they keep
Tryst with the moon, and deep is the silence, deep
On moon-washed apples of wonder. -
Something Wrong Here? (Edited)
Town Halls, including Richmond's, that set low Council Tax bills are to be "punished" by losing millions of pounds of funding, The Telegraph has revealed today.
New rules have been introduced by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, under which local authorities that set low council tax will receive less in government grants than those with high bills.
************************************************************************************** Her department has claimed that it would be wrong for the Government to "reward places that have been able to keep council tax levels low".
***************************************************************************************
It could mean that councils that run their areas more economically have to impose savage cuts to services. -

This morning, the president-elect was sentenced for his 34-count conviction on business fraud and other New York state felonies in connection with silencing a porn actress about their affair before the 2016 election. But despite his crimes, Donald Trump received no punishment.
It would be hard for a novelist to imagine a more telling scene in the larger story of our moment in which a privileged old man can’t say enough to be racist, can’t break enough laws to be incarcerated, can’t fail enough to be a failure and can’t be stupid enough to be stupid.
Van Lathan, Jr., wasn’t talking about the fact that impunity for pretty much everything is the point of Trump, but he may as well have been when he said in June that he’s “the whitest white man we’ve ever seen.”
With this sentencing, it’s official. Trump will be the first president to be a criminal president. This, of course, is only a minor accounting. Trump has been, in fact, a deviant and devious criminal mind for most of his adult life. He enriched himself when he was president the first time. He stole government secrets. He tried overthrowing an election.
With his third campaign, he and his allies, including a murder of billionaires and half a dozen justices on the US Supreme Court, set out to turn the republic against not only itself but against the rule of law.
They succeeded.
Civil institutions could not hold him accountable. The media failed. The law failed. The courts failed. The American people failed. Some still like to say no one is above the law, but it all sounds quaint to me.
The insurrection of January 6, 2021, has been institutionalized. It is now the establishment. It is now “the way things are.” Trump and his allies have achieved what historical figures like Joseph McCarthy, Robert Welch and George Wallace could only dream of: the restoration of “natural order of things” in America. Heads – I win. Tails – you lose.
Some deny it. They insist on the existence of some kind of immutable law, like the force of gravity, that will compel Trump to be presidential.
“There is one thing about being president-elect: You become president. And then you’re in charge. You’re responsible. You have to govern,” William Kristol said. “Beginning January 20, it will be Trump’s show. From the most trivial things to the most weighty, the power will emanate from and the buck will stop at Trump’s Oval Office.” -

The TV Tax Hike Licence to be Scrapped ?
The TV Licence is a disgusting, excessive and downright robbery in todays world where vast numbers of viewers watch or pay non-BBC providers.
I myself never watch BBC and am robbed of £174.50 per year to finance a service I have no interest in. My TV is provided by Virgin cable for which I pay £100 per month.

Fern Hill, Dylan Thomas (Edited)
Now as I was young and easy under the apple boughs
About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in the heydays of his eyes,
And honoured among wagons I was prince of the apple towns
And once below a time I lordly had the trees and leaves
Trail with daisies and barley
Down the rivers of the windfall light.
And as I was green and carefree, famous among the barns
About the happy yard and singing as the farm was home,
In the sun that is young once only,
Time let me play and be
Golden in the mercy of his means,
And green and golden I was huntsman and herdsman, the calves
Sang to my horn, the foxes on the hills barked clear and cold,
And the sabbath rang slowly
In the pebbles of the holy streams.
All the sun long it was running, it was lovely, the hay
Fields high as the house, the tunes from the chimneys, it was air
And playing, lovely and watery
And fire green as grass.
And nightly under the simple stars
As I rode to sleep the owls were bearing the farm away,
All the moon long I heard, blessed among stables, the nightjars
Flying with the ricks, and the horses
Flashing into the dark.
And then to awake, and the farm, like a wanderer white
With the dew, come back, the cock on his shoulder: it was all
Shining, it was Adam and maiden,
The sky gathered again
And the sun grew round that very day.
So it must have been after the birth of the simple light
In the first, spinning place, the spellbound horses walking warm
Out of the whinnying green stable
On to the fields of praise.
And honoured among foxes and pheasants by the gay house
Under the new made clouds and happy as the heart was long,
In the sun born over and over,
I ran my heedless ways,
My wishes raced through the house high hay
And nothing I cared, at my sky blue trades, that time allows
In all his tuneful turning so few and such morning songs
Before the children green and golden
Follow him out of grace,
Nothing I cared, in the lamb white days, that time would take me
Up to the swallow thronged loft by the shadow of my hand,
In the moon that is always rising,
Nor that riding to sleep
I should hear him fly with the high fields
And wake to the farm forever fled from the childless land.
Oh as I was young and easy in the mercy of his means,
Time held me green and dying
Though I sang in my chains like the sea. -

Today we have naming of parts. Yesterday,
We had daily cleaning. And tomorrow morning,
We shall have what to do after firing. But today,
Today we have naming of parts. Japonica
Glistens like coral in all of the neighboring gardens,
And today we have naming of parts.
This is the lower sling swivel. And this
Is the upper sling swivel, whose use you will see,
When you are given your slings. And this is the piling swivel,
Which in your case you have not got. The branches
Hold in the gardens their silent, eloquent gestures,
Which in our case we have not got.
This is the safety-catch, which is always released
With an easy flick of the thumb. And please do not let me
See anyone using his finger. You can do it quite easy
If you have any strength in your thumb. The blossoms
Are fragile and motionless, never letting anyone see
Any of them using their finger.
And this you can see is the bolt. The purpose of this
Is to open the breech, as you see. We can slide it
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this
Easing the spring. And rapidly backwards and forwards
The early bees are assaulting and fumbling the flowers:
They call it easing the Spring.
They call it easing the Spring: it is perfectly easy
If you have any strength in your thumb: like the bolt,
And the breech, and the cocking-piece, and the point of balance,
Which in our case we have not got; and the almond-blossom
Silent in all of the gardens and the bees going backwards and forwards,
For today we have naming of parts. -
