Found out today that Amazon had taken £7.99 from my bank for audio books subscription.
I have never agreed to this or downloaded any books from them.
Once I messaged them they agreed straight away to a refund and to cancel my 'contract' - no quibble, no excuse of 'you agreed' etc. So they must be aware of this happening other times to people

Is there a way to eat filled tacos without making a mess?
Eating them from the top is a disaster.
Coming in from one end seems to be the best, but even then they can suddenly fall apart. -
Today I deliberately ignored the 2 metre social distance rule.
A woman got on the bus with a shopping trolley full to overflowing. She stood with it in the wheelchair space. The bus turned and the woman wasn't holding her trolley. It went over and her shopping went everywhere. Most of it up against the centre door where people might get on at the next stop.
I was the only person on the bus that went to help her pick everything up. Actually I was keeping her trolley upright with one hand while grabbing items off the floor with the other, while keeping my balance as the bus driver kept to the speed limit.
Unfortunately a dozen eggs got smashed. -
Just heard that some of the trolleys/baskets in supermarkets are very filthy. Have not been in shops for month but with all the fuss about virus I would think their would be super clean. How is your area?

We moved to be nearer our children and grandchildren but haven’t really had much contact since because of covid. Finally they can come and sit in the garden (from Monday). So even if we’re 6 foot apart we can now enjoy their company. And my granddaughter can at last have a go on the swing. She’s been patiently waiting for 3 months. Hurrah!

Question. A Nation of Shopkeepers
Who first used the phrase "A Nation of Shopkeepers"?
For a bonus, where did they first use it? -
Our press and media are achieving the impossible.
They are making Cummings the underdog.
He gave a diary account of his movements and motivation in a very controlled way yesterday.
This has been called a "story", "version of events", and Sky News reported he stopped his car for his son to "play in the woods" when actually the four year old wanted a pee!
The press are camped outside his house [all notably not observing social distance].
Now they are camped outside his father's farm, and ringing the bell to quiz his father.
Not impressed by anyone in this ongoing political power struggle. This discussion is now closed.

I NEED TO SPEAK TO THE ADMIN OF THIS GROUP!!!
🤬🤬🤬
CAN ADMINS OF THIS GROUP DO A BETTER JOB OF MONITORING WHO IS ALLOWED IN HERE PLEASE?!
THERE'S BEEN A NEW MEMBER WHO HAS BEEN PRIVATELY MESSAGING MEMBERS, SENDING THEM NAKED PICTURES OF HIMSELF IN NASTY POSES ALONG WITH CLOSE UPS OF HIS UNMENTIONABLES.
HE’S ALSO BEEN OFFERING AN IPHONE 11 PRO IN EXCHANGE FOR DEPRAVED SEXUAL FAVORS.
I AM ESPECIALLY BOTHERED BECAUSE IT TURNED OUT TO BE AN IPHONE 6 AND THE CAPS LOCK CAN'T BE SWITCHED OFF.

Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser
Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better.
Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog.
I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was.
So I took him to emergency vet.
It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out.
The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing.
Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets.
Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home
Anise (Pimpinella anisum)
Birch (Betula)
Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis)
Boldo (Peumus boldus)
Calamus (Acorus calamus)
Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora)
Cassia (Cassia fistula)
Chenopodium (Chenopodium album)
Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum)
Garlic (Allium sativum)
Goosefoot (Chenopodium murale)
Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana)
Hyssop (Hyssopus sp. with the exception of Decumbens)
Juniper (Juniperus sp. with the exception of Juniper Berry)
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)
Mustard (Brassica juncea)
Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium)
Red or White Thyme
Rue (Ruta graveolens)
Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus)
Sassafras (Sassafras albidum)
Savory (Satureja)
Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Terebinth (Pistacia palaestina)
Thuja (Thuja occidentalis)
Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens)
Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

USA unemployed dilemma (Edited)
Watching some CNN last night. US unemployment is over 35 million, more than the population of Canada. But now all 50 states have started to re-open and former employees are being offered their old jobs back. But they have a dilemma. For a lot of the low paid workers like hospitality and shop staff the unemployment money is 3 times what their wages would be.
One woman interviewed says she earned about $150 a week working but was getting $350 on unemployment. She'd been able to pay off all her debts. Now she's been offered her job back she didn't know what to do. Said she would rather earn her money rather than live on handouts but the amoint she would lose was making her think twice. -

Cooking with alternative flours
Can't get plain or self-raising flour anywhere so I am considering trying one of the alternatives but which one! Does anyone cook with them and, if so, which is the best. Also do I need to add baking power?

Fruit Pickers Needed (Edited)
Will any of the Brexit voters on here be doing their patriotic duty and pick much needed fruit and veg now all the Johny Foreigner types they didnt want here no longer want to help us in our hour of need.

Was too hot to walk home with my essential food shopping today so got the bus back. Now I totally understand them putting tape across to keep people away from the driver. But on today's bus some of the pairs of seats were blocked off by string. It seemed to be totally random which ones were blocked off. Couldn't see the point of it. Don't bus drivers trust passangers to not sit next to each other, or directly behind.
A more sensible idea would be block off every other row of 4.
I'm taking scissors with me next time. -
Real Marigold Hotel (Edited)
This has been another good series so far. You have to overlook the pretense that well known retirees are really going to upsticks from the UK and spend the rest of their life in India.
This year they are all stayng at a Haveli in Pondicherry ( Pudacherry) called Gratitude. I looked it up expecting it to be expensive but its only 4 lakh rupees to stay there. That's only £40 a night. Looks a nice place for a holiday. -
The Eurovision Song Contest would've been on tonight. All the artists that would've performed have the option to return next year but have to perform a diffeerent song. Don't think our song, My Last Breath by John Newman, stood a chance. Having heard 30 seconds of each song most of them are better or more catchy than ours.
This one would've got my vote.
