On my laptop I have AVG security and an anti spyware thing that removes cookies. neither of these things ever comes up on my tablet.
Do others have security on their tablets ?

At least, they haven't disappeared, but are blank, and the icons have lost their names. I updated my avast (not upgraded), as requested in an avast pop up and this is what happened. Docs in my drop box are similarly blank. Is there an easy solution or do I need expert help?

Have just had a call purporting to be from microsoft: Caller: "I am calling from microsoft. Am I speaking to the owner of the computer?" ME: "there is nothing wrong with my computer - thank you for calling" - I put phone down. Phone rings again - I check number - it's different, so I answer. Caller: "I am blocking your computer as you have been so rude" ME: " I wasn't rude - there is nothing wrong with my computer; thank you, Goodbye" I put the phone down. Phone rings again - same number so I don't answer.

i am ok about this except irritated - but this is so nasty for more vulnerable people - is there anything that can be done?

How do i know if my television is NTSC or PAL ?
Just set up a new DVD player and don't know what to set this on, does it even matter ?

Why don't I get the same information on my tablet as I do on the laptop.

1. In Groups on the laptop there is a column on the right showing members, it's not there on my tablet.

2. On my profile on the tablet i cannot click on friends to see the list as i can on the laptop, although i can see them by clicking followers.

Not sure if this is the right group for this - but I have purchased a cheap cat fountain (probably too cheap) for our cat who is not drinking enough - only from hosepipe and water butt taps - but it has arrived with a power cord with a usb - am I ok to plug it into an old mobile phone charger plug (it fits) - it needs to be on all the time. All in one desktop has gone berserk. Bright red and blues and rolling screen. Unable to use, currently on Fire tablet. About 7 years old, Windows 7. Is this repairable or will I have to get Windows 10 laptop, which I dread.
Plus, of course, will lose everything, contacts, etc. Have switched on/off several times but still happens. Also have second email address which I can't access on tablet. Is there any point in taking to computer shop, if I bought one from them could they transfer stuff?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why my laptop will no longer 'connect' to my printer? It's always worked fine before but, the other day when I went to print something, nothing happened! I know the printer and cable is ok as I can use it with my work laptop but not my personal one anymore. I've tried going into 'Settings' and uninstalling then reinstalling the printer but just can't seem to get any connection. Any ideas anyone? Thanks

3 times this morning I have lost internet connection on my laptop and had to use the trouble shooter to get it back.
Strange thing is when this happens my tablet works perfectly with no problems - what's the difference ?

It's now been like it for about 2 hours. I took it off the charging point, entered the pin number and it has been frozen ever since. It has a cover but that's not switching it off either. The on-switch moves but having no impression. My slight worry is that it is getting quite warm - what would happen if it stays like this (battery still reading 100%). Any suggestions, please, would be welcome.

I am on an old laptop and do not want to clutter up with info/programs I do not need. Also some programs take a long time to download. I do not load down music only listen to youtube songs. Do I need to down load updates on itune?

Since I have moved and got a new bt hub I cant connect my Google chromebook to the Internet. Android tablet and phine connected fine but chromebook says no Internet in range even if I am a foot away from hub. Any ideas anyone?

A while ago someone told me what to install to get emojis, had a little symbol for it at the right side of taskbar - now it has disappeared and I can't remember what it was called - any advice please ?

I use Windows 7 and support is ending in January. I don't mind admitting I'm now getting sleepless nights about the next step as I'm definitely not computer-minded, can just do the basics. Anyone from Kahuti will probably remember I've been down this road before and am still none the wiser.
Windows don't think it's a good idea to install Windows 10 on an old machine. I currently use an HP Pavilion all-in-one which I'm very happy with and I'm not keen on laptops although I can see I may now have to buy one with W10 on it and bite the bullet.

My queries are:
Do I put everything on Cloud (recommended) and, once I work out how to do it, will I be able to access it from any new computer I buy?
Best and easiest way to back up what I have here (there is a DVD slot which has never worked no matter how many different discs I try to back up with). I do have a USB 3.00 Flash Drive - do they do the same thing.

Can I still get the 'favourites' which include saving accounts, internet banking and other things I use a lot?
Or will everything have to be installed again.
Will I be more confused if I try and run two computers side by side for a while?

Or should I get in the professionals.

Thoughts from anyone having the same problem much appreciated. (PS I'm ancient as you can probably work out).

I tried to copy a video from Facebook via FBdown.net. it said download but it isn't in my pictures folder or my down loads - where has it gone?

I used this system a couple of days ago and the video went straight to my pictures folder okay.

Every time i log in to my laptop i get the message my firewall is turned off - every time i turn it on - why doesn't it just stay turned on [ this is with AVG]

I am at least one folder missing from the menu, when I put it in the search bar it comes up but the 2 recent [today] messages I moved to there are not shown. What can i do ?

I've received a couple of emails recently with PDF files attached. Viewing them they look alright but when I sent them to the printer, what should be a whole A4 page is shrunk down to less than a quarter of the page.
The only way to print at a normal size font is to copy and paste to a blank Word document and print from there. But that is hard work as sometimes have to copy paste in several blocks. as "select all" only selects up to a certain point.

Apart from Skype and Facebook Messenger does anyone know of any websites that allow video calling from a laptop?

The family here have had a once a month Skype chat with my sister in Oman since she moved out there 12 years ago, but earlier this year her Skype was blocked. Oman is one of the countries that has banned Skype, so its a wonder she wasn't blocked sooner.

So we tried the video call option in Facebook Messenger and found it worked if we both used Chrome. That worked ok a few times but now her video camera "can't be found". At least we could still do a voice only call and she could see us.

There is the option of me upgrading to a smartphone so I can use Whatsapp video calling.

I usually minimise Scooploop and call up to see what is going on from time to time.
A notice came up for Window 10 asking me to download --Reimage Repair exe --- or I would loose some of my files/data.
I did download but have done nothing further.

Just run Malwarebytes and result show Reimage as an unwanted program.

Today it's changed. It looks OK here but when I look at 'Groups', just the middle EL shows! All Aboard looks odd too.

Turned laptop on and the noise of the fan is making a noise like a car over revving. It has done this before quite a few times but it can be fixed by shutting down a nd restarting. But today no amount of shutting down and restarting is making the laptop run with its normal quietness.

It is not yet affecting ths software, apart from it is running a bit slower than usual.

Any suggestions what to do.

Having got myself (sort of) organised with a ScoopLoop shortcut on the desktop I usually arrive here and look at Notifications. Then, when I see something I'm interested in reading and maybe commenting on I have absolutely no idea which group it's in. It would be nice to know!

For those who don't know me I'm Ray and I hail from East Kent, computers are my thing these days since retiring back in 2006 from a life as a Commercial Vehicle Fitter.
