ThereI are times when you have to drag the dog.
I saw a headline somewhere recently, "Woman calls RSPCA after she sees man dragging dog". I thought why would he be doing that, and if the dog had just stopped for a rest, he needs more patience and persuasion.
But last night I had no option but to drag my dog. I was taking her for an evening walk around the roads of my estate at about 10.30pm. The roads are very quiet, so I let her cross the road whenever she wants. Except when I have to keep her on the footpath because of the occasional car. Last night she started to cross the road, got in the middle and just stopped. I was calling to her to come back to the path and carry on walking, then I saw a car approaching. I was then calling a lot louder to "come on, back on the path" and was almost pulling her over with the lead. I was tugging the lead but not yet dragging her, just trying to make her move. By now the car was getting close and having to slow. So I really had no choice but to go across to her, grab her by the collar and literally drag her to the footpath. -
Re-freezing then re-thawing raw mince.
My sister bought a large pack of frozen raw beef mince for the dog. We left it out of the fridge for it to thaw naturally. Fed some to the dog. One of her friends said you have to cook it first but I said dogs can eat raw meat. She put the pack into the fridge at that time.
But after a subsequent feeding she decided, as we now had a case of tinned dog food, to put the raw mince back into the freezer. So it now needs thawing for a 2nd time. I know on human food there are warnings "don't refreeze" but will it still be ok to feed the dog twice thawed meat. -
10 THINGS YOUR DOG WOULD TELL YOU...
1. My life is likely to last 10 to 15 years. Any separation from you will be painful: remember that before you get me.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me - it is crucial to my well being.
4. Do not be angry at me for long, and do not lock me up as punishment.
5. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I only have you.
6. Talk to me sometimes. Even if I donβt understand your words, I understand your voice when it is speaking to me.
7. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget.
8. Remember before you hit me that I have teeth that could easily hurt you, but I choose not to bite you because I love you.
9. Before you scold me for being uncooperative, obstinate, or lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I might not be getting the right food, or I have been out too long, or my heart is getting too old and weak.
10. Take care of me when I get old; you too will grow old. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: βI cannot bear to watchβ or βLet it happen in my absence.β Everything is easier for me if you are there, even my death.
I found this and thought I would share to remind us all to treasure the pets in our life! -
What is your dog's most annoying habit?
When my dog does it's usual bark, say at a cat in the garden, it is only for a few seconds and not a problem.
But her annoying habit is for no reason to firstly start whining, gradually getting louider, then will start a constant high pitch yapping. No amount of us shouting at her to stop seems to work. Worst of all she always positions herself under a table so she can't be grabbed.
This can go on for about 5 minutes and you never know when it's going to start. -

There are quite a few posts on local Facebook about a virus currently affecting dogs, not confined to just this area. Over the weekend about ten posts of dogs having to be rushed to vets for acute sickness and diarrhoea with some being kept in on drips. Also Crystal Palace Facebook posts. Advice is stay away from parks, etc. and be aware.

Growth Plates Really Matters:
My older daughter's first ever dog was suppose to be neutered at 8 months, it was cancelled on the day after my daughter finally agreed with us to wait until he's older to allow the growth plates the extra months to close up completely; that'll make such a massive difference on his joints -
Something to think about. (Edited)
Also remember that some of the microchip companies donβt liaise with each other so your dog or cat could be missed when scanning and not getting reunited with their owners.
