Horror as two of Britain's most dangerous terrorists on the verge of being released!!!

Two of the most dangerous terrorists in Britain who plotted to kill hundreds of people by blowing up a string of high-profile targets could be freed in months. Extremists Salahuddin Amin and Omar Khyam have both been referred to the Parole Board for potential release.

They were major players in a five-man terror cell jailed for life in 2007 over a deadly plot to use fertiliser-based explosives to blow up Kent's Bluewater Shopping Centre and London's Ministry of Sound nightclub.

The pair of Al Qaeda-inspired extremists is up for parole despite a judge at their 2007 trial saying: "You have betrayed this country that has given you every opportunity. All of you may never be released."

Manchester Arena bomb victim Jade Clough urged the Parole Board not to release them.

It comes after another terrorist who wanted to blow up a Territorial Army base will be officially released in weeks, despite two experts saying he should remain in prison.

Why the hell have we allowed these people into our country!

A 2023 article written by Suella Braverman has recently been posted in Anything Plus on SL (without attribution), claiming that Multiculturalism has "failed".

This article which counters the claim was posted in February 2024.

How can we say multiculturalism has failed when we struggle to explain what it is? - Arv Kaushal
      08 February 2024
By Arv Kaushal, Head of People Development & EDI at MK College Group

A few months ago, the former home secretary, of Kenyan Indian and Mauritian Indian parentage, caused a storm of controversy with her claims that multiculturalism had “failed”. She said there was an “existential challenge for the political and cultural institutions of the West,” and that the “misguided dogma of multiculturalism” has allowed people to come to Britain with the aim of “undermining the stability and threatening the security of society.”
To determine whether she is right or not, we need to understand what multiculturalism actually is. If you were to ask a hundred people, there’s a good chance you’d end up with (at least) a hundred different answers. How do you define a term that is so utterly dependent on perspective? My own concept of multiculturalism would certainly be very different from that of Suella Braverman, or a Ukrainian refugee, or a Huguenot fleeing religious persecution in seventeenth century France. Where does multiculturalism start, and interculturalism or cosmopolitanism begin or end? When somebody uses the word, how do we know what they're talking about? A lack of shared experience means a gap in shared understanding.

Is multiculturalism all about black and brown and white faces? Does prime minister Rishi Sunak, the former Winchester head boy, Oxford graduate and Stanford MBA, have more in common, culturally, with a nurse whose grandparents came from the same village in the Punjab as Mr Sunak’s, or with the clutch of male Old Etonians and Oxbridge alumni with whom he has shared membership of various cabinets?

Certainly, the Covid inquiry has heard suggestions that the monoculture of those making the decisions during the pandemic led to a lack of understanding of the needs of, and risks to, ethnic minorities, children in need of free school meals and elderly people in care homes. Is this a failure of multiculturalism, or no multiculturalism at all?

At Milton Keynes College Group, we are committed to a community of staff and learners who reflect the makeup of the city in which we operate. That means our diversity, from senior managers, teachers, cleaners and catering staff, should mirror our homes and neighbourhoods. This is not some blind sacrifice to the God of multiculturalism; it is not “woke” or political correctness gone mad. It is simple business sense. How could we attract the best staff, the keenest students, the individuals most likely to meet local skills needs, if we fail to fish in all available ponds for talent? Isn’t multiculturalism in this context simply another term to describe commercial good sense?

For the sake of argument, let’s define multiculturalism as the collective recognition, respect and valuing of different groups of people, all with the same rights, responsibilities and laws.

My late immigrant Indian father had to abide by the law, and also had the right to vote, to buy a house and so on. This has not always been the case. When black and Asian immigrants came to Britain in numbers in the 40s, 50s and 60s, it was the trades unions that first found the concept of multiculturalism unpalatable, calling for British jobs for British workers. The 1965 and 1968 Race Relations Acts, largely came into being as a reaction to the Bristol Bus Boycott of 1963, where the bus company defended its refusal to employ black crews, because the Transport and General Workers Union had demanded they do so.

Trades Unionism has undergone a transformation in its relationship with the ethnicity of workers and such a situation could not arise today. A company, blatantly and explicitly refusing to hire non-white workers would find itself demonised in even the most right-wing newspapers and in court shortly afterwards. So, from 1963 to today, surely, it has to be said that multiculturalism has actually succeeded. Nobody reacts with surprise or alarm when getting onto a bus driven by a black driver. It is the norm. And this is a key thing to consider. For something to have failed it needs to be assessed over a period of time, but what period? What is the timeline for assessing which particular trends? Is the home secretary talking about the last five years, or fifty, or fifteen hundred even?

In the last century, British servicemen (for it was only men) of colour, used to be consigned to unmarked graves if they fell in the field for their country. Today such indignity would be unthinkable, and great care is taken by the armed forces to recognise the religious sensitivities of its fallen soldiers. That’s multiculturalism too.

Does racism still exist in British society? Of course it does. Are there inequalities in health, education, employment, life expectancy? Palpably so. Are white and black people equal before the law? In theory, yes. In practice, no. Is that a failure of multiculturalism?

Are refugees from Ukraine regarded in the same way as those from Afghanistan or Syria? No. Is that a failure of multiculturalism?

There is a tendency among those who see multiculturalism as a failure, or even a threat, to want to preserve or even conserve something called Britishness, as if trapped like a fly in amber. But which Britishness is it? Is it the Britishness of today or yesterday, of the 1930s or the 1730s? Cultures cannot be frozen in time. The only ones that are, are those that no longer exist. The cultures of ancient Greece or the Incas are fixed and immutable… and dead.

Television, and advertising in particular, have taken great conscious strides to be more representative of the multiethnic nature of society in recent years, but this is one of the great irritations for some who feel that multiculturalism has been artificially forced upon British society, rather than being part of a natural process. Supermarket advertisements featuring black and brown families tucking into a traditional Christmas lunch routinely provoke howls of protest about being unnecessarily and even offensively “woke.” Strangely, the depiction of some of the nation’s favourite meals (and yes, they really are) like Chicken Tikka Masala, Spaghetti Bolognese or Beef Chow Mein being eaten by white British families seems to cause no offence. Could it be that the reality is that what causes upset, is not a cultural difference, but the presence of non-white faces in situations which are not considered by some to be their place?

Those of us working in the equality, diversity and inclusion space are often asked, “What does success look like? When will we have achieved the nirvana of total integration, total cultural harmony?” The reality is that the pursuit of multicultural perfection is a process. There is no end point, because all cultures are subject to constant change, with extinction and replacement the only possible alternative. So, has multiculturalism failed? Yes. In one sense it fails every day. However, the process of continual improvement, of gentle, sometime almost imperceptible evolution, goes on.

Multiculturalism is an aspiration, and not a destination. Rather than decrying its failure, let us celebrate its achievements.

It is what the majority are think but are afraid to vocalise.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has found himself at the centre of a political storm after claiming Britain had been “colonised” by immigrants.

The country’s biggest industrialist, who co-owns Manchester United, provoked outrage from Downing Street and the footballing world after complaining that “you can’t have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in”.

Sir Keir Starmer called the Ineos chief’s words “offensive and wrong”. Rachel Reeves said his opinions are “disgusting”.

In the end, Sir Jim apologised for his critics’ thin skins: “I am sorry that my choice of language has offended some people in the UK and Europe,” he said.

But he has certainly not backed down. “It is important to raise the issue of controlled and well-managed immigration that supports economic growth.”

While Sir Jim’s “colonisation” statement has provoked outrage, his point that Britain’s economy is not in “a good state” is hard to argue with. The benefits bill is ballooning and the economy is flatlining.

Keir Starmer and Co have blood on their hands!!!

Cold weather 'killed 2,500' after Keir Starmer axed pensioners' Winter Fuel Allowance
The deaths were concentrated around three cold snaps where average temperatures dipped below 2°C for at least two days.

More than 2,500 deaths were linked to cold weather during the 2024/25 winter, according to a landmark report that has ignited a fierce row over Labour's decision to scrap winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) analysis estimates 2,544 fatalities associated with low temperatures in England between November 2024 and January 2025.

This the "deadly consequences" of the Government's cost-cutting measures, which saw 10 million fewer elderly people receive help with heating bills. The deaths were concentrated around three cold snaps where average temperatures dipped below 2°C for at least two days. The most lethal was a six-day period from January 7-12, 2025, accounting for 1,630 fatalities amid an amber cold health alert across England. Shorter episodes on November 20-12, 2024 and January 2-3, 2025 also contributed to the toll.

In July 2024, Prime Minister Keir Starmer's administration restricted payments to pensioners on means-tested benefits like Pension Credit, slashing eligibility.

Sadiq Khan under pressure as harrowing new grooming gangs details revealed
Under-fire London Mayor accused of 'burying his head in the sand' over shocking scandal, with victims now detailing how they were kidnapped, raped and beaten.

No guesses why. The sooner he's gone the better.

Sir Sadiq is facing growing criticism over his refusal to accept that grooming gangs operate in the capital.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp declared: “Sadiq Khan claimed there was no rape gang problem in London. People like Khan denying the problem is why this scandal went on for so long.”

Laila Cunningham, Reform’s candidate for mayor of London said: “What this BBC investigation lays bare is horrific.

Soft Britain. Sudanese asylum seeker who threatened Christian preacher with a knife spared jail even though he has 67 previous offences.

A Sudanese asylum seeker who threatened a Christian preacher with a knife in London has been spared jail. Ahmed Mohammed, 35, also dragged Daniel Ayettey off a ladder in the attack last May.

Mr Ayettey was addressing a crowd at Speakers' Corner in Hyde Park on May 25. The Sudanese national, who arrived in the UK in 2012 and has 29 pevious convictions for 67 offences under his name, asked him: "What would you like to happen in my life?" Mr Ayettey replied: "I would like to have the Lord in your life." Mr Mohammed then tried to drag the preacher down before running from the scene. He returned shortly after with a knife, telling Mr Ayettey: "I am going to stab you."

There were a number of Muslims, who were aware of Mr Mohammed and they tried to persuade Mr Ayettey not to call the police."

The judge added: "I hope the suspended sentence could be a sign for you that you should not be back with your friends in Westminster doing nothing and drinking and stealing from shops."

      Labour's economic incompetence.

Britain braces for fresh wave of job losses: Hospitality and High St will be worst hit.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves was last night warned that Britain faces a wave of job losses as struggling firms prepare to lay off workers.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the number of people officially at risk of redundancy jumped by 29 per cent in January to 27,279.

The worst-hit sector was ‘distribution, hotels and restaurants’, which includes high street retailers as well as hospitality, where there was a 272 per cent increase to 8,165.

Businesses say they are being battered by higher taxes and wages and are battling to cut costs and stay afloat.

Andrew Griffith said: ‘Labour has played with matches and set the house on fire.

‘Higher taxes, rising minimum wages and more red tape are driving employers to make a wave of redundancies.’

The figures came just days after the ONS said unemployment is already at a five-year high of 5.2 per cent while the jobless rate among the young has soared to an 11-year high of 16.1 per cent.

The surge has fuelled fears of a ‘lost generation’ who face a lifetime on out-of-work benefits. The minimum wage for those aged 18 to 20 went up from £8.60 an hour to £10 in April last year, and is due to rise to £10.85 in April.

Employers are also grappling with higher national insurance costs, a rise in business rates and new rights for workers.

Helen Dickinson, chief executive of the British Retail Consortium, said: ‘The rise in potential redundancies in retail will be more bad news for jobseekers.

Analysis of ONS figures by the Mail shows that there have been 702,000 redundancies since Labour came to power, including 145,000 in the final three months of 2025.

Small boat migrants whose phones were seized upon arrival in Britain have won compensation payouts, it has been reported.

High Court judges ruled in 2022 that a policy which involved searching migrants who arrived between April and November 2020 and confiscating their mobiles and SIM cards breached human rights laws.

A total of £210,800 has so far been awarded to 32 asylum seekers, amounting to £6,587.50 each, according to figures obtained by The Sun using freedom of information laws.

Officials told the newspaper that another 41 migrants are awaiting a decision on the size of their payouts.

If they are awarded the same amount in compensation, the total bill will rise to £480,887.

The Home Office also had to spend £735,000 fighting the case, the figures reveal.

What the hell is this a recruitment campaign!

Speaker who compared Gaza to Holocaust teaches CofE primary pupils Muslim prayer

Mark Khadim Jackson, a white Muslim convert, visits schools in the North East to teach children about Islam.

A Church of England primary school invited a Muslim speaker who compared the war in Gaza to the Holocaust to teach pupils how to pray to Allah.

Mark Khadim spoke to pupils aged seven and eight at Chester-le-Street CE school, in County Durham, on Thursday.

The school published photographs of the visit on Facebook that showed Mr Jackson and the children kneeling as if in prayer and a girl trying on a hijab.

Mr Jackson, who visits schools in the North East to teach children about Islam, has previously compared the war in Gaza to the Holocaust.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism said Mr Jackson’s remarks were an “insult” to Holocaust survivors and that the school should not have invited him to speak to pupils.

Mr Jackson’s visit to the primary school prompted a backlash from parents, one of whom questioned why a Church of England school was “encouraging Islam”.

Mr Jackson, a worshipper at Newcastle Central Mosque, has toured other schools in the region and has given tours of the mosque to children from other primary schools.

Mrs Braverman, the Reform UK MP for Fareham and Waterlooville and former Tory home secretary, said the invitation was “absolutely shocking”, adding: “Those who spread hate and anti-Semitism have no place in our schools.

“Children need to be protected. Under a Reform UK government, schools will once again be a safe place of learning and education, not of indoctrination and intolerance.”

The accused, a former pupil of the school, then allegedly attacked another child in the playground and used ant spray on a third. About time thank goodness, back to sensible thinking in politics. 👋👋👋

Suella Braverman today warned Britain is being 'ripped apart' by diversity, equality and inclusion policies, vowed to 'repeal the Equality Act' on day one if her party wins the next general election.

'Because we are going to work to build a country defined by meritocracy not tokenism, personal responsibility not victimhood, excellence not mediocrity, and unity not division.'

'Because the truth is, that DEI has become less about diversity and more about conforming to left-wing ideology.
'Less about equality and more about prejudice against white people. Less about inclusion and more about exclusion of those who dare to challenge the dogma.

'Why was it acceptable for white, Christian men to be discriminated against by the Sentencing Council?

'Why did nobody do anything for years when the police turned a blind eye when thousands of white working-class girls were being systematically raped by largely Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs?

'Why does no one in this Government seem to care that it's white working-class boys who have the worst educational outcomes in our country today?

This endless legal merry-go-round” of the asylum system must end!

Failed asylum seekers appealing against their rejected claims are costing taxpayers nearly £4,000 per case in court costs alone, new data revealed.

A total of £79.5million was spent on the administrative costs of hearing asylum appeals in the 2024-25 financial year, according to official figures released in response to a Freedom of Information request.

The cost has increased by more than a quarter compared with the previous year, as the number of asylum seekers appealing against rejected claims has also soared.

The number of those waiting to appeal against the rejection of their claims almost doubled from 34,234 in 2024 to 69,670 last year.

The costs related to the internal administrative bill of hearing appeals, which included the salaries of judges and court staff and running costs of the tribunals.

It comes in addition to the £24,000 average annual cost of housing each asylum seeker, and the cost incurred by the Home Office for fighting the appeals.

The request also revealed that the cost of providing taxpayer-funded legal aid to asylum seekers appealing against rejected claims rose by 56 per cent in the 2024-25 financial year to reach £6.2 million.

Nearly £30million has been paid out in legal aid for asylum appeals since 2019-20, and with appeals taking an average of 60 weeks to be heard, most asylum seekers live in taxpayer-funded accommodation during this time.

Taxpayers are burning nearly £80 million a year for an endless legal merry-go-round designed to delay decisions, block removals, and keep illegal immigrants who have no right to be here.

      Incompetent professional standards.

A jailed drill rapper who escaped from custody twice within a week has apparently posted a video online taunting the police.

Daniel Boakye, 21, fled from Lewisham Hospital in south-east London on Sunday afternoon after being taken there for medical treatment.

Five days earlier, on 10 February, he had also escaped from prison guards at West Middlesex University Hospital before being recaptured by Met Police officers the following day.

A video posted on Instagram appears to show Boakye, who uses the drill name dsavv, performing in front of a screen featuring a newspaper story about his first escape.

The song includes the lyrics "I just broke out of jail like Modie", referring to a character from the TV series Top Boy, and brags about being "fresh home", champagne and cannabis.

Boakye was jailed for six years and five months in 2023 for being part of a robbery gang that held victims at knifepoint to get their phone passcodes in order to steal a total of £115,000 of cryptocurrency, as well as using bank details to pay for taxis and top-up cards.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: "We are searching for a 21-year-old man who absconded from Lewisham Hospital at around 3.05pm on Sunday, February 15.

"Officers gave chase but could not detain Boakye before he left the building.

"We are currently reviewing this incident to fully understand the events which unfolded. The Met's directorate of professional standards is aware."

Labour MP calls for Britain to hand over billions in 'colonialism reparations'

Bell Ribeiro-Addy voiced support for the African Union's push to secure the handouts from Western countries including the UK.

On social media, she drew attention to a deal to bring forward a UN resolution next month that would classify the transatlantic slave trade as a crime against humanity.

The MP has previously called on the Government to "engage" in reparations discussions, arguing that steps must be taken to address the "enduring legacies of slavery and colonialism".

Ministers have firmly rejected any suggestion that Britain would pay - though David Lammy was among those who called for reparations in Opposition.

The African Union, representing all 55 African nations, has demanded "meaningful reparations" from European powers.
It agreed at its summit that the resolution will be put before the United Nations on March 25.
Ghana has been given responsibility for leading the initiative.

Caribbean nations have joined forces with African countries in pursuing the cash, with some estimates placing the amount owed in the trillions of dollars.

This is the big problem with multiculturalism. They do not fully integrate with our society, they bring their own grievances and agendas to our countries. Potentially dangerous especially when they gain positions of authority and influence.

Keir Starmer Taking a leaf out of President Trump's policies. But goes even further

UK foreign aid cuts set to be deeper than Trump’s slashing of US funds

Britain is on course to slash its overseas aid budget further and faster than the Trump administration, according to new analysis.

According to the analysis by the Center for Global Development think tank, the UK is expected to cut Official Development Assistance (ODA) by around 27 per cent in 2026-27 compared with 2024-25, while US development spending will fall by about 23 per cent across the same time period.

Ian Mitchell, co-director of the Europe programme at the Center for Global Development said "In the UK, parliamentarians have so far offered very little resistance to plans to implement very steep cuts. the contrast is striking given the governing Labour Party’s historical support for Britain's international development spending".

Labour mayor helped hide evidence when her son, 41, was arrested for raping 15-year-old girl, court told

Ejaz, who had been Mayor of Bracknell Forest from 2023 to 2024, in Berkshire, is said to have delayed their entry for 'some minutes'.

She also spoke to her son, Diwan Khan, 41, in Urdu to 'assist' him in hiding his phone which had a video on it of the alleged sex attack, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Mr Khan - who was her Consort of the Mayor - is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in June 2024 after she 'blacked out' from the MDMA that he put in vodka for her to drink.

Prosecutors allege the teenager woke up in the backseat of his car with no clothes on and she could not remember what had happened.

But Khan then showed her a video that he filmed of him having sex with her, choking and slapping her in the face.

Khan, who appeared alongside his mother for official Mayor functions, allegedly threatened to show her mother the video if she said anything and that she 'belonged' to him.

Starmer abandons plans to postpone local elections in another U-turn

Keir Starmer has abandoned plans to postpone 30 council elections this May after a legal challenge from Reform UK.

The move triggered Nigel Farage to launch a legal battle, accusing Labour of trying to avoid bruising election defeats to Reform in the spring.

The announcement is the 14th U-turn of Keir Starmer’s time in office.

Nigel Farage said the Government’s decision to abandon plans to cancel local elections in 30 councils was a victory for Reform UK.

In a statement he said: ‘We took this Labour government to court and won.
The government has agreed to pay Reform UK’s legal costs relating to the challenge.

The 7 May elections, taking place in councils across England, as well as the Scottish and Welsh Parliaments, are expected to be painful for the Labour Party as it suffers from low poll ratings.

Congratulations are due to Rachael from Accounts as today the unemployment figure is the highest for the last five years, precisely as she was told it would be at her first budget.
Starmer constantly tells us how Labour is taking people out of poverty but omits to mention those that they are plunging INTO poverty and becoming a burden on the state.
Let us not forget that whenever a person becomes unemployed the state loses their PAYE and their NI contributions and has to pay out social security, a double whammy.

This act of cowardice is the clearest sign yet Keir Starmer is owned by the hard-left - Rakib Ehsan.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s response to Ratcliffe’s comments may not have necessarily landed as hoped, saying that they were “offensive and wrong” and that “Britain is a proud, tolerant and diverse country”.

One can both believe that Ratcliffe’s wording was distasteful but have perfectly legitimate concerns over the degree of cultural and demographic change because of the unprecedented levels of immigration the UK has experienced in recent years.

Indeed, this was the thrust of the ‘Island of Strangers” speech Starmer himself delivered back in May 2025.

In his remarks at the Immigration White Paper press conference, the PM poured scorn on “a one-nation experiment in open borders conducted on a country that voted for control”, referring to the need to “close the book on a squalid chapter for our politics, our economy, and our country”.

In an act of sheer cowardice after being criticised by much of the radical-progressive Left, Starmer distanced himself from his own speech, saying that he deeply regretted using the “island of strangers” phrase.

Starmer is right in the sense that the British people have traditionally been open, tolerant, and generally accepting of diversity, tending to prefer civic over ancestral conceptions of nationhood.

However, astonishing demographic changes fuelled by industrial-scale immigration are understandably testing this openness and tolerance to the limit, especially when it comes to anxieties surrounding integration and identity.

As reported by the Policy Exchange think-tank in its December 2025 paper calling for an emergency census, in the four-year period between June 2021 and June 2025, the UK received an estimated 4.83 million migrants in the form of “long-term international migration” – a truly remarkable figure.

And those who believe the majority are not the brightest and the best can be forgiven for thinking so. The pace and scale of social change in some parts of the country have increased the number of neighbourhoods which have weak associations with British national identity and low levels of English language proficiency.

Pandering to liberal-leftists with ‘progressive’ views on immigration instead of recognising the deep-seated cultural conservatism of Labour’s industrial heartlands will cost Starmer very dearly.

Scandalous bribery and corruption... desperation, fear of losing.

Labour activists have been referred to police over a by-election gala dinner.

The Labour Party event, was reported for allegedly bribing voters in the Gorton and Denton by-election with free dinners.

The dinner, held at a south Asian restaurant and wedding venue, hosted around 600 people on Wednesday evening and was attended by senior Labour figures including Lucy Powell, the party’s deputy leader.

The venue was adorned with posters promoting Angeliki Stogia, the Labour candidate in the by-election, which takes place on Feb 26.

In videos later posted on social media, Ms Powell was filmed telling voters they should support Ms Stogia, “otherwise we’re going to end up with Reform in Manchester and we’re not having that”.

Lord Khan of Burnley, an ally of Angela Rayner, the former Labour deputy leader, and Afzal Khan, a Manchester MP, were also at the event.

The dinner, paid for by a Labour supporter in the constituency, has now been reported to the police under an obscure piece of electoral law that bans using food and drink to influence voters.

Since 1983, it has been illegal to engage in “treating”, which involves “providing any food, drink, entertainment or provision to corruptly influence any voter”.

The latest polling suggests that Gorton and Denton is a tight three-way contest between Reform, Labour and the Green Party.

The seat was previously a Labour stronghold represented by Andrew Gywnne, who resigned from the Commons last month following an investigation into abusive WhatsApp messages he sent on a group chat.

      Agenda, falsely changing history.

BBC programmes should be 'less diverse', say viewers

      Historical diversity
Discussion of the potential diversity of Britain has intensified in recent years, with books and television series attempting to present a more racially diverse past.

David Olusoga’s 2016 series Black and British: A Forgotten History included claims that the remains of the Roman-era Beachy Head Woman, found near the Channel, were those of a black woman. These were later proven false through DNA testing, and the segment was edited from future broadcasts.

In 2023, The Telegraph revealed the pending publication of Brilliant Black British History, a children’s book which made the false claim that Stonehenge was built by black Britons.

The book also claimed that “Britain has been a mostly white country for a lot less time than it has been a mostly black country”. It later won the Children’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year at the British Book Awards.

Period dramas have also attempted to inject diversity into history, and the BBC adaptation of Dame Hilary Mantel’s novels about Henry VIII’s court used a diverse cast to portray Tudor courtiers, including white historical figures.

The 2025 BBC series King and Conqueror, about the 1066 Norman conquest, used a diverse cast to portray Anglo-Saxon nobility, including the real figure of Morcar, Earl of Northumbria.

A fictional role was invented for the series and similarly cast. This character turned out to be central to the series and the closest advisor of the English King Harold Godwinson.

Ed Miliband's incompetence has just been exposed - and by someone who really knows him.

The Energy Secretary doesn't engage with the substance. He dismisses criticism as a plot by the right-wing press, or greedy oil companies, who are smearing him with "nonsense and lies". But Miliband should answer with facts. He doesn't.

Instead, he makes grand, sweeping claims about the success of his policies, while ignoring hard facts on the ground. He says covering Britain with wind turbines and solar panels, while blocking new oil and gas exploration, will cut bills and boost energy security. That flies in the face of all the evidence. Now he's been challenged by someone who can't be brushed off as a right-wing crank, who's just damned his net zero charge as "not fit for purpose".

No, it's not Nigel Farage. Or Tory shadow energy secretary Claire Coutinho. It's former Labour PM Sir Tony Blair. Who knows exactly what Miliband is like. Today, his think tank, the Tony Blair Institute, has torn into Miliband, and not for the first time. It's published a report arguing that Labour should junk Miliband's green energy strategy to focus on what really matters, making energy cheaper.

The report confirms that Miliband's accelerated renewables will drive up electricity prices and hollow out industry, while doing little to slow climate change. It means squandering £1.5 billion a year paying wind farms to switch off when supply outstrips demand. The conclusion is blunt: "In a country responsible for less than 1% of global emissions, that is not climate leadership - it is climate theatre."

The report says that unless Miliband relents, our energy bills will only rise. Miliband doesn't care. He won't even engage. He'll just rant on about right-wingers and continue with a childish policy that may cost the nation hundreds of billions of pounds.

Watch him speak, punching the air and rolling his eyes, and it's hard to dispute he's deluded. His policies certainly are. The exact word has been used by the UK's leading energy expert.

It'll drive up bills, costs us hundreds of billions, and leave the UK hooked on Chinese tech while destroying tens of thousands of existing oil and gas sector jobs, and creating hardly any green ones.

Miliband's net zero charge is deluded and not fit for purpose. That isn't a fringe view or right-wing conspiracy. It's common sense. Which Miliband simply doesn't have.
      Deluded net zero.

Why Crime Rates Are Falling Across the U.S.

Crime rates are dropping across the U.S, in some cases reaching their lowest levels in decades.
Data from 40 American cities shows a decrease in crime across 11 out of 13 categories of offenses last year compared to 2024, the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ) found in a new analysis released on Thursday. Nine of those offenses, ranging from shoplifting to carjacking to aggravated assault, declined by 10% or more.

The homicide rate fell 21% in 35 cities which provided data for the crime, accounting for 922 fewer deaths. And the report predicted that the rate will drop even further, to four per every 100,000 residents, when the FBI releases nationwide data for jurisdictions of all sizes. That would represent the lowest homicide rate since 1900 and the largest percentage drop in homicides in any single year on record.

President Donald Trump has taken credit for falling crime rates around the country, citing his immigration crackdown and deployment of the National Guard in cities across the U.S. since he began his second presidential term.
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Kash Patel highlighted the CCJ report’s findings on Thursday and credited the Administration for the decrease in overall crime.

“Media gymnastics can’t hide the reality that this administration brought law and order back, and Americans are safer because of it,” he wrote in a post on X. He also pointed to statistics from what he called the “FBI’s historic year” that credited the agency with disrupting 1,800 gangs, seizing 2,000+ kilograms of fentanyl, and increasing violent crime arrests by 100% in 2025, among other achievements.

Data shows, however, that there has been a steady decline in crime since a spike during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that rates were already falling before Trump returned to office—including in cities the Administration has targeted in its immigration and crime crackdowns. Experts tell TIME that the drop recorded last year is part of this larger trend and can be attributed to a kaleidoscope of factors, none of which can singularly or definitively account for the decline.

“We see very confident claims of credit in abundance, but scarce hard evidence to back them up,” CCJ president and CEO Adam Gelb tells TIME. He stresses that disaggregating all the contributing factors that act against crime to create a coherent explanation for the data is an “impossibly difficult” task.

“The remarkable consistency in the magnitude of the decline across the country really suggests that everything's happening at the macro level,” he added, pointing to “broader changes in society and culture and technology that are exerting enormous influence on what's happening at the local level.”

Here’s what you should know about the recent data, and what factors experts believe could be contributing to the decline.

      • Last year’s decline in crime
The CCJ report found that homicide rates decreased from 2024 to 2025 in 31 out of the 35 cities evaluated, with Denver, Omaha, Nebraska, and Washington seeing declines of 40% or more. Little Rock, Arkansas, marked the biggest outlier in the broader trend, seeing a 16% increase in homicides.

In addition to the steep decline in homicides, the report found that there were 9% fewer reports of aggravated assault, 22% fewer gun assaults, 23% fewer robberies, and 2% fewer incidents of domestic violence.
Violent crime in 2025 was overall at or below its levels in 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the report.

Cities saw 25% fewer homicides than in 2019, with the largest drop—of 36%—occurring in the cities that had the highest homicide rates before the pandemic. Robberies fell 36% in the evaluated cities from their 2019 levels, and carjackings 29%.

Beyond violent crimes, other categories of offenses also saw declines last year compared to 2024, including a 27% decrease in motor vehicle thefts, a 17% drop in residential burglaries, and a 10% decline in shoplifting.
Drug offenses were the only category that saw an increase in 2025 from the previous year, rising 7%. But they were still down a notable 19% from 2019 levels.

      • Rebounding from the pandemic
Data shows that the steady drop in crime recorded in the last three years follows a widespread spike in rates during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“When COVID hit, and the world shut down, we basically turned off the water with respect to prevention and intervention strategies,” says Alexis Piquero, the former director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics appointed by President Joe Biden and a professor of criminology at the University of Miami. “And then it took about two or three years for the water to be turned back on. Then it starts dripping a little bit. And now ‘25 and into ‘26 the water now is at full blast.”

John Roman, the director of the Center on Public Safety and Justice at the National Opinion Research Center of the University of Chicago, tells TIME that the loss of local government jobs as a result of the pandemic crippled communities' abilities to prevent crime, but that local government jobs have since grown past pre-pandemic levels.

“We actually have more local government employees now that we've ever had and crime is at the lowest level it's been since 1960 and I don't think that's a coincidence,” he says, noting that those in such positions, like teachers, counselors, clinicians, and local police officers, are “the people who most directly work with young adults and adolescents who are at the greatest risk of committing a crime or being the victim of a crime.”

He asserts that the most influential factor in reducing crime was the allocation of federal funds that led to the proliferation of such jobs, specifically crediting the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, a $1.9 trillion stimulus package that provided hundreds of billions in relief funds to state and local governments, among other provisions.

“I do think that there's a policy argument that the American Rescue Plan is probably the most important federal legislation in the years since the pandemic,” says Patrick Sharkey, a Princeton University professor of sociology who founded AmericanViolence.org, calling the measure the “strongest and most effective investment in federal funding” in his lifetime. “I think it has gone unrecognized how incredibly effective it was in stabilizing communities and stabilizing local government … It's not very visible how important these resources are, but they play an enormous role in just making sure that communities don't fall apart.”

These federal investments are essential for crime reduction programs at the local, neighborhood level that combat community violence, such as after-school, employment, and education programs, Piquero stresses to TIME.
Barring another pandemic-level predicament, he expects these drops in crime to continue with the continued federal support trickling down to local jurisdictions.

“We're much safer now than we've been in the last, certainly six years, and certainly since the height of the crack trade in the 1980s and in the strife and unrest of the 60s,” he adds “So I'm very I'm optimistic, but it's also not the time to take our foot off the pedal right now."

      • Shifts in technology and culture
Outside of more trackable factors like federal funding, Gelb, CCJ’s president, believes a host of other contributors have worked together to reduce crime rates.
Among them, he contends, is technology.

From the growing frequency of cameras outside of homes and businesses; to more advanced criminal justice surveillance techniques and interconnected databases; to digital wallets, which have made cash robberies less common, Gelb says the increasingly technological world is causing crime to falter.

He adds that the now ever-present role of tech is also leading to “rising youth independence,” with young people isolating themselves more rather than “carousing” with their friends. He notes that young people often co-offend in instances of violent crime.

He also attributes the falling crime rates to cultural and social influences, namely a decline in alcohol consumption and a slowing of the opioid epidemic. Increased police presence, taking guns off the streets, and local community violence intervention programs are other factors contributing to the steep drop, he says.

      • Trump’s role
Though Trump has taken credit for reducing overall crime in 2025, rates were already declining before he returned to office last January, and experts say it’s at best too soon to tell if his Administration has played a notable role in the drop—and that it could be outright false to attribute the change to his crackdown.

Gelb acknowledges that the increased presence of federal agents could be contributing to lower rates of crime.
But, he says, “This level of deployment and these types of tactics are unprecedented. So even if we had good research about general deterrence, it wouldn't necessarily apply here because of the unprecedented nature of this federal deployment.”

Piquero notes that crime has also trended down in cities and areas where the National Guard has not been deployed and ICE operations have not been ramped up.
“We're in the fourth year of a crime decline, and the National Guardian and ICE deployments have really been something that's only happened over the last six months. It’s hard to link the two at this point,” Roman added. “It's clear that the crime decline was fully developed before any of those deployments happened.”

Sharkey, meanwhile, believes there’s no correlation between the ramped up federal presence in cities and the decrease in crime rates at all.
“It would be ridiculous to argue that federal presence in cities played any role,” he tells TIME. “This started in 2023. So that argument is nonsensical.”

“Violent crime dropped sharply across America’s biggest cities in 2025,” yet another resounding validation of President Donald J. Trump’s unwavering commitment to restoring law and order. After years of chaos, skyrocketing crime, and soft-on-crime policies under Biden plunged the nation’s biggest cities into anarchy and disorder, President Trump took office on a promise to restore public safety — and he has delivered in historic fashion.

The new data confirms steep declines across every major violent crime category in 2025 compared to the prior year: overall murders down 19%, robberies down 20%, and aggravated assaults down nearly 10%.

These gains build on earlier reports showing America’s cities are now safer than they’ve been in over a century. The murder rate in the nation’s biggest cities has fallen to its lowest level in at least 125 years — marking the largest single-year drop in recorded history. Beyond murders, the nation also saw dramatic reductions in rapes, robberies, aggravated assaults, shooting deaths (fewest since 2015), on-duty law enforcement officer deaths (80-year low), traffic fatalities, and overdose deaths.

This is the direct result of President Trump’s aggressive, no-nonsense approach to public safety. By surging federal resources to Democrat-run cities that had devolved into war zones, removing savage criminal illegals from our streets, supporting police and prosecutors, and rejecting the Radical Left’s weakness, President Trump’s decisive actions have turned the tide, saved countless lives, and restored peace to communities long abandoned by Democrat politicians who prioritized criminals over citizens.

      Well done Mr. President.

Another tax grab by labour to shore up their mismanagement

Labour slammed for slapping stealth tax on church repairs for first time in 20 years

The Government's plan to impose a stealth tax on repairs to England's world-class portfolio of historic churches has been slammed as "completely ignorant". Labour has said churches will have to pay VAT on repairs and maintenance work for the first time in 20 years after axing a grant scheme which was aimed at reducing the financial burden on congregations.

Robert Lyman, 63, a historian and church warden for Waltham St Lawrence in Berkshire, warned that the move will force parishioners to abandon repair projects, causing grade-listed churches around the country to "crumble".

The Grade-I listed Norman church in his parish needs interior repairs totalling £70,000, and under the upcoming changes, he will have to find an extra £14,000 for the taxman.

John Cleese has gone where others fear to tread on Islam.

It would be the perfect setting for one of Monty Python’s more surreal sketches. An inquiry hears the most horrific attacks and horrendous crimes committed by a specific group, only for members of that group (picture Eric Idle and Michael Palin in absurdist costumes) to pop up and scream that it’s offensive to speak the truth.
But that is what has happened this week in Britain.

In the same week where billionaire businessman Jim Ratcliffe has decided to speak up about the ‘colonisation’ of Britain by immigrants, another famous face has put his head above the parapet to comment on exactly this issue – Monty Python’s own John Cleese!

On X, Cleese wondered aloud about whether the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) might be Britophobic, in response to the MCB describing the grooming gang inquiry as, you guessed it, ‘Islamophobic’.

Suffice to say that it is more heartbreaking and disgusting than you can probably imagine. And it happened all over the country, to our most vulnerable, by targeted groups of mostly Pakistani Muslim men.

Moreover, they organised themselves around those factors, and some are on the record in court transcripts as saying ‘we are here to f*** white girls and f*** the Government'.

The MCB clearly disagree. They want to prevent the public from knowing the scale of what happened – and continues to happen to this day – in Britain.

They want to scare people from speaking the truth; in this instance, by the tried and tested method of calling anyone involved racist by another means.

The Labour Government has been trying to come up with an official definition of ‘Islamophobic’, in order to buy the support of radical elements of those communities.

We are seeing more and more well-known figures breaking cover to criticise mass immigration and its effects.

If this trend continues, the national debate on these issues will only speed up. Who will be the next celebrity to speak sense?
