      Labour MP’s partner arrested on suspicion of spying for China

      David Taylor, the partner of Joani Reid, was arrested by the Metropolitan Police and is being held under the National Security Act.

      Two other men were arrested on Wednesday morning, a 68-year-old in Powys, Wales, and a 43-year-old in Pontyclun. All three suspects were detained on suspicion of assisting Chinese intelligence.

      Searches were carried out at the properties where the arrests were made, as well as at three other addresses in London, East Kilbride and Cardiff.

      Ms Reed was elected for the seat of East Kilbride and Strathaven in July 2024, and sits on the Commons’ home affairs committee.

      This is the big problem with multiculturalism. They do not fully integrate with our society, they bring their own grievances and agendas to our countries. Potentially dangerous especially when they gain positions of authority and influence.

      Rage and fear as major UK university's Islamic society mourns 'martyr' Khamenei on campus.
      A London university Islamic society has been been engulfed in controversy after publicly celebrating the life of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following his death in joint US-Israeli strikes, urging Shia Muslims in the West to remain "aware and ready."

      The Ahlul-Bayt Islamic Society at University College London posted tributes to the Supreme Leader on Instagram, with the society's mental health team writing that his killing represented an "unimaginable loss for the entire Ummah" - the Arabic term for the global Muslim community - accompanied by a broken heart emoji.

      The group put out an extensive statement declaring "we express our sincere condolences on the martyrdom of our beloved", and telling followers to "not allow the enemies of justice to rejoice over Muslim blood."

      The man they mourned had presided over decades of systematic human rights abuses, the torture, rape and slaughter of thousands of Iranian citizens, the suppression of women's rights and the financing of terrorist organisations across the Middle East. President Trump called him "one of the most evil people in history" as he confirmed the Supreme Leader's death.

      Suella Braverman took the matter to Parliament, where she delivered a pointed condemnation. "Disgracefully the pro-Ayatollah student society plans to host a commemorative event in name of the 'fallen' on the campus of University College London, i.e. in support of those who supported the brutal IRGC regime," she said.

      "This is utterly wrong, that taxpayer-funded university resource is being used to propagate the murderous ideology of the Tehran regime which has attacked UK bases and with whom we are effectively at war."

      UCL student and author Dov Forman said the posts went far beyond acceptable campus expression. "A UCL student society publicly mourning Ayatollah Khamenei and urging Shia in the West to stay 'aware and ready'. On a UK campus. Universities cannot keep pretending this is just 'student expression,'" he said.

      This is a deeply disturbing by-election result and a victory for religious sectarianism

      There is something disturbing about the result of the Gorton and Denton byelection. It was yet one more sign of the growing religious sectarianism in British politics. The Greens won this seat because of their shameless targeting of Muslim voters who make up 28% of the population in the constituency. The party distributed leaflets in Urdu declaring that "Labour must be punished for Gaza".

      Its candidate, Hannah Spencer, posed outside mosques wearing a keffiyeh around her head - a symbol of Gaza resistance - and boasted of fasting for a day at the beginning of Ramadan.

      The Green's transition from being a party of climate protest to being one of solidarity with Gaza - a journey which has been followed by many climate activists, Greta Thunberg included - was surely pivotal. They picked up the votes which unseated Labour MPs in Muslim areas.

      One leaflet showed Starmer standing beside Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister. Never mind the context - that the UK and India were signing a trade deal.
      it was a brazen attempt to signal to the large number of voters of Pakistani heritage in the constituency that Starmer is somehow on the side of Pakistan's deadly enemy India.

      F ing scum!

      An Ilford family who used £150,000 in bogus Bounce Back Loans (BBL) to fund their 'lavish lifestyle' during the Covid-19 pandemic have been sentenced. Kashid Rashid, 53, his wife, Noreen Malik, 46, nephew Rehaan Mohammed, 32, and brother Rizwan Haider, 61, set up or used a number of fake businesses to apply for government help.

      The group said they had been adversely affected by lockdown and claimed inflated annual turnovers to qualify for the maximum loan of £50,000 each time. The money was instead used to pay for house upgrades and private school fees, and sent to other family members and businesses they controlled.

      US comic blasted for 'despicable' joke about Bafta Tourettes sufferer John Davidson

      An American comedian who has been slammed for a joke made at the expense of Bafta Tourettes-sufferer John Davidson

      Davidson was heard shouting expletives from the audience including a racial slur when actors and Sinners castmates Michael B Jordan and Delroy Lindo spoke on stage last week. The campaigner, whose life inspired Bafta-nominated film I Swear, released a statement after he made an involuntary tic when the black starts were presenting an award, saying he is "deeply mortified" following the incident.

      Deon Cole hosted the NAACP Awards for a second year in a row, and the night was littered with digs.

      Deon said at a ceremony last night: “If there are any white men in the room with Tourette's, I advise you to tell them to read the room, lord,” he said in a mock prayer, before adding: “It might not go the way they thinketh. Whatever medicine they on, they better double up on it, lord."

      The joke was met with gasps before the crowd awkwardly laughed along and clapped. with a number of stars slamming the gag.

      Afghan 'migrant smuggler' films himself enjoying shelf of snacks and TV in UK prison

      A video of a migrant smuggler has emerged of him in his jail cell enjoying an episode of Deal Or No Deal. Samiullah Ahmadzai filmed himself boasting about his seemingly cushy life in Wormwood Scrubs, West London. The 26-year-old man from Afghanistan has more than 6,000 followers on TikTok and some of his videos have gained hundreds of thousands of views. Some of his newest videos show his small cell with a large shelf stacked with snacks, drinks and cooking ingredients.

      'VILE' VANDALISM Winston Churchill statue in Westminster is defaced by pro-Palestine protesters as man, 38, arrested.

      PRO-PALESTINE activists have defaced Sir Winston Churchill statue and branded him a “Zionist war criminal” in graffiti, as one man is arrested.

      Other phrases included “Globalise the Intifada” and “Free Palestine“.

      The 12ft bronze statue – which has been in the square since 1973 – has been cordoned off while it is cleaned.

      At the end of last year the Met Police and Greater Manchester Police ruled that anyone chanting “globalise the intifada” would face arrest.

      “This is an attack on democracy, this is an attack on this country, its culture and its history.”

      The statue of the former prime minister has been targeted by Left-wing demonstrators multiple times.

      In 2020, Black Lives Matter activists crossed out Churchill’s name and wrote “was a racist” on the base.

      Extinction Rebellion protesters followed suit later that year and scrawled the same graffiti on the plinth.

      Trans rights demonstrators climbed on top of the sculpture in protest of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the definition of being a woman last year.

      Koran burner wins landmark blasphemy case

      A man who burned a Koran in a demonstration outside the Turkish consulate has won a landmark blasphemy case at the High Court.

      Hamit Coskun, 51, was convicted of a religiously aggravated public order offence after holding up a flaming copy of the holy book and shouting “f---- Islam”, in what he insisted was a political protest.

      He successfully appealed the decision against the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), who had claimed his actions were criminal and amounted to disorderly conduct.

      In a judgment handed down on Friday, Lord Justice Warby and Ms Justice Obi upheld the decision to overturn the conviction.

      The Free Speech Union (FSU), which supported Mr Coskun throughout proceedings, has now called for Stephen Parkinson, the director of public prosecutions, to resign following the “humiliating defeat”.

      Free speech campaigners had argued that if Mr Coskun lost his case, Britain would have introduced a blasphemy law by the back door.

      Writing for The Telegraph, Mr Coskun said that if the High Court had not ruled in his favour, “the Islamic blasphemy code would now be, in essence, embedded into English law”.

      He said he was now free “to resume my campaign against the rising tide of Islamification”, adding that this could involve burning more copies of the Koran.
      By upholding my rights, the High Court has struck back at the Islamification of Britain. For now.

      “We have not had blasphemy laws in this country for 18 years and for that reason, this prosecution was bound to fail.

      A Labour councillor who was pictured dining with convicted crack cocaine and heroin dealers has been suspended after his conviction for a 'brutal' pickaxe attack emerged.

      Mohsin Hussain, a district councillor for Keighley Central in Bradford, was handed a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years for his involvement in an armed street attack which left a man with bruising to his head, upper body and legs.

      In 2023, he was pictured dining at a restaurant alongside three convicted crack-cocaine, heroin and cannabis dealers.

      The Keighley and Ilkley MP said: 'In 2014, a man in my constituency was ambushed, violently beaten with a pickaxe handle and left lying in the street with serious injuries. At the time of the conviction, the judge called it a brutal attack.

      'Mr Speaker, many constituents have contacted me to express their concern that the perpetrator of this attack is still a sitting a Labour councillor in Keighley, and was recently pictured celebrating an election alongside individuals convicted of dealing crack cocaine and heroin.

      The enemy within...

      Police should pay more attention to far-left extremists and new laws are needed to limit the right to protest, an independent government adviser has said.

      In a new report, crossbench peer and former Labour MP Lord Walney said the UK was at a "crossroads in our democracy, too little attention has been paid to serious forms of violence, intimidation, and incitement of hatred on the extreme left".

      He said such movements could cause "enormous economic damage and drain police resources", warning it was "imperative" for the government to tackle it.

      Lord Walney, who is the government's independent adviser on political violence and disruption, identified a "broad far left subculture" involved in environmental campaigns, anti-racism and anti-Israel activism, which he said had anti-capitalist, anarchist, and anti-establishment ideologies.

      He claimed the government should address the gaps in knowledge within departments and law enforcement of the ideologies, tactics, and actors within what he called the "extreme left-wing and anarchist" protest movements.

      The intelligence services and Home Office should classify threats based on an assessment of their "tactics for achieving change, and their vision for the world they want to create," he added.

      Lord Walney is an independent adviser to the government who sits as a crossbench peer in the Commons.

      Around 550 migrants crossed the Channel on Wednesday as they took advantage of the warmest day of the year.

      Ten small boats set off from France carrying the migrants in the first crossings in a fortnight after bad weather had paused attempts to reach the UK.

      It means the total crossings this year so far are expected to hit 2,000, putting it on par with 2025 at the same point. Last year saw the second highest number of crossings of 41,472.

      One dinghy was picked up late on Tuesday afternoon. The Border Force vessel Typhoon was dispatched to rescue the migrants who were then brought back into the Port of Ramsgate around 5pm.

      Observers estimated around 70 people were brought ashore.

      The Border Force catamaran Ranger brought another group into the harbour on Wednesday morning. Sister vessels Volunteer, Typhoon and Defender are currently positioned mid-Channel.

      A total of 1,530 migrants had been intercepted so far this year. Tuesday and Wednesday’s arrivals were the first since Feb 9, when 322 migrants crossed the Channel in five boats. Until this week, 597 people in nine dinghies had been picked up in February across three days.

      More migrants have crossed the Channel on small boats under Sir Keir Starmer’s premiership than any other prime minister. Some 65,922 migrants have reached the UK across the Channel since Labour won the election 19 months ago at an average rate of 790 a week!

      This is unsustainable when will this madness end!

      In the UK, a child at a primary school was branded a RACIST for refusing to take part in Ramadan, according to an incident report.

      The child said - "Why do we have to do that? I'm not doing that. Do I have to? If I don't will you make me?"

      The school responded - "This will be added to your child's behaviour record and the school's log of racist incidents".

      Bedfont Primary School also DEMANDED that the parents discuss the incident with their child to "help them to understand why this is unacceptable at school".

      Triple killer Valdo Calocane had watched videos of shootings online, a public inquiry into the Nottingham attacks has heard.

      Calocane, who had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, fatally stabbed Ian Coates, Barnaby Webber and Grace O'Malley Kumar, and seriously injured three others in June 2023.

      These murders would have been avoided, if decision's were not based on race.
      Langdale also told the inquiry of an incident three years prior to the attacks in May 2020, when Calocane was assessed by a mental health team after being arrested for damaging a flat door trying to gain entry, with officers observing he seemed to be hallucinating. The inquiry heard details of Calocane's earlier attacks on others, including colleagues and a police officer.

      Mental health workers and doctors had been "leaning towards" sectioning Calocane, but he was released into the community by the team who had considered the "over-representation" of young black men in detention, the inquiry heard. Calocane was detained on four occasions and five of his seven mental health assessments recommended detention.

      Have they not learnt anything? As turning a blind eye to the Pakistani rape gangs, that were brushed under the carpet for fear of being classed as racist?

      Zack Polanski, would cause an “epidemic” of drug use in Britain through his plan to liberalise drug laws.

      Mr Polanski has said he wants to legalise all drugs. Party members will vote on whether to adopt the policy at their spring conference next month.

      Green Party documents claim that the controlled use of recreational drugs could benefit “human relationships” and “creativity”.

      These reckless plans would unleash a drugs epidemic across Britain.
      Mr Polanski’s proposals would “risk a tinder box being opened” and cause “havoc” across British towns and cities.

      He has declared he would go further and indicated his support for legalising every drug, including heroin and cocaine and the date-rape drug GHB for recreational use.

      They also want to create a 'direct partnership' between South American cartels to introduce a sustainable supply in the UK. The policy also adds children 'starting in primary school' should be taught how to take drugs in Personal, Social and Health Education lessons.

      Looks like he has been taking too much of what he's advocating!

      Horror as mum set on fire in front of daughter by men seeking revenge.

      Five men have been found guilty after a violent attack that left a woman and a teenage girl with severe burn injuries. Another five men admitted their roles in the incidents, which unfolded in December 2021.

      After an 11-week hearing at Nottingham Crown Court, Det Con Howard Davies of Staffordshire Police said: "This was a horrific ordeal for a mother to be set on fire in her own home in front of her daughter by a number of men seeking revenge."

      Staffordshire Police said trouble began on the afternoon of December 16, 2021, when Naveed Hussain, 32, Bilal Ahmed, 26, Kashif Ahmed, 25, and Ali Abbas, 22 - all from Stoke-on-Trent - were involved in a fight on Kildare Street in Longton.

      Later that evening, just before 11pm, a group of men went to a property on Beverley Drive in the Bentilee area, demanding to speak to Hussain.

      According to police, the attackers smashed downstairs windows before pouring petrol inside the hallway near the front door and outside by the living room window.

      A 31-year-old woman inside the house was struck on the head and then set alight, sustaining burns to 65% of her body. At the time, her injuries were so severe that she was not expected to survive and remained in a coma for two months.

      She did survive, but has been left with life-changing injuries that require ongoing medical care.

      A 13-year-old girl also suffered burns to 15% of her right arm and right leg.

      Muhammad Sufyaan-Shah, 25, of HMP Hindley, Wigan - convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent

      Tayyeb Majeed, 23, of Stoke-on-Trent - convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent

      Before the trial, the following five men pleaded guilty to offences:

      Ali Abbas, 22, of Stoke-on-Trent - admitted to two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life and violent disorder

      Haris Mahmood, 21, of Stoke-on-Trent - admitted to two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life

      Naveed Hussain, 32, of Stoke-on-Trent - admitted violent disorder and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place

      Kashif Ahmed, 25, of Stoke-on-Trent - admitted violent disorder

      Bilal Ahmed, 26, of Stoke-on-Trent - admitted violent disorder

      Union leaders issue new leadership ultimatum to Starmer

      The leaders of some of the UK’s largest unions have delivered a new ultimatum to Sir Keir Starmer, just days after he survived an attempt to oust him from power.

      Demanding he change course or risk electoral disaster, Unite and Unison have warned that the party’s current trajectory undermines its “ability to win both people’s trust and elections”. They say they will band with concerned MPs to “reverse this damaging behaviour”.

      The unions, which between them donate millions of pounds to the party, also hit out at Sir Keir’s decision to block his rival Andy Burnham’s return to Westminster in a by-election this month.

      The warning comes just hours after Sir Keir was forced to deny he was almost “toppled” by his own MPs this week in a failed coup.

      Trade union leaders and Labour MPs have written to the party’s deputy leader Lucy Powell to demand a change of direction.

      Andrea Egan, Unison general secretary, said: “Shutting down party democracy has contributed to the government’s unpopularity and its failure to improve living standards. Rebuilding the coalition necessary to stop Reform must start with a more open and democratic culture in the party.

      “We need an urgent end to this nasty factionalism coming from the top of the party where the views of Labour members and trade unionists are treated with contempt

      Why the increase in racism in Europe and the UK....

      Multiculturalism has “failed” in Europe and threatens social cohesion in the nation state.
      A misguided dogma of multiculturalism has allowed people to come to the UK with the aim of “undermining the stability and threatening the security of society”.

      Uncontrolled immigration, inadequate integration and a misguided dogma of multiculturalism have proven a toxic combination for Europe over the last few decades.

      Multiculturalism makes no demands of the incomer to integrate. It has failed because it allowed people to come to our society and live parallel lives in it. They could be in the society but not of the society.

      And, in extreme cases, they could pursue lives aimed at undermining the stability and threatening the security of society. The consequence of that failure are evident on the streets of cities all over Europe.

      Migration to the UK and Europe in the last 25 years has been too much, too quick, with too little thought given to integration and the impact on social cohesion.
      If cultural change is too rapid and too big, then what was already there is diluted, eventually it will disappear.

      It does not make one anti-immigrant to say that the nation state must be protected.

      Contrasting Migrating to the UK “lawfully” with those who “are coming here gaming the system”.

      What angers many people in Britain, whether they are from the migrant background or not, it’s the sense of unfairness that people are jumping the queue, that they are breaking our rules.

      In March 2021, the quiet town of Batley was thrust into the spotlight when a religious studies teacher at Batley Grammar School faced serious threats for showing caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad during a class. What followed was a harrowing ordeal that exposed deep-seated issues within our society.

      A review highlighted a critical oversight in previous investigations and local leaders’ statements: the failure to acknowledge the personal impact on the teacher. Instead, the focus remained on the perceived ‘offense’ caused by the cartoons, highlighting a troubling trend of prioritising the wishes and concerns of parts of the community over democratic values and rights.

      The Batley incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of prioritsing cultural sensitivity over fundamental freedoms. Embracing Multiculturalism should never have led to a reluctance to confront controversial issues for fear of causing offence. Institutions, fearful of causing offence should not cave to the demands of vocal groups, undermining democratic principles in the process.

      Police ‘turn blind eye’ to sharia courts in Britain.

      Police have been accused of turning a blind eye to the spread of sharia courts in Britain.

      Newly released Government figures show that less than 3 per cent of so-called “honour crimes” were successfully prosecuted last year.

      The data show the authorities are consistently failing to prosecute and prevent honour-based abuse, which can include offences such as female genital mutilation, homicide (honour killings) and forced marriage.

      And campaigners are warning that the “privatisation of justice” within some Muslim communities through sharia courts makes it harder for the state to intervene.

      They say this has fostered a parallel justice system operating behind closed doors with no state oversight.

      Nick Timothy MP, the shadow justice secretary, said: “There can only be one rule of law.

      “But the British state has turned a blind eye to sharia courts spreading across our country.

      “This is allowing so-called ‘honour’ crimes and abuse to go unpunished.

      “While we know there is a huge problem, police officers and prosecutors are not doing their job and locking up these zealots.

      “Forced marriage and FGM have no place in a modern society. It is time to crack down on this behaviour and hold the line against the Islamists who would destroy the British way of life.”

      Last year, 2,949 honour-related offences were recorded in Britain, but only 95 defendants were prosecuted.

      In 2023/24, 2755 offences were registered, but there were only 80 corresponding prosecutions. In 2022/23, there were 3,008 recorded incidents and just 68 successful prosecutions.

      Between 2015 and 2024, the Metropolitan Police recorded more than 1,000 reports of female genital mutilation (FGM).

      Some 109 cases of FGM were reported to police last year alone, while a further 111 were recorded in 2023/24.

      This is almost double the 65 FGM cases reported to authorities in 2019/2020.

      FGM has been illegal in England and Wales for nearly 40 years. However, despite the number of reported cases, there have been only three criminal convictions in Britain – the first of which, relating to a three-year-old girl, was secured in 2019.

      Meanwhile, some 766 forced marriages were reported to police between 2020 and 2025 but just 118 resulted in prosecution.

      There were 125 reported cases in 2024/25, 201 in 2023/24, 173 in 2022/23 and 141 in 2021/2022.

      The corresponding prosecution numbers were 30 in 2024/2025, 27 in 2023/24, 20 in 2022/2023, 33 in 2021/2022 and 8 in 2020/2021.

      There are believed to be as many as 85 sharia councils operating in Britain.

      These bodies – which are not bound by the Arbitration Act which guarantees some level of Governmental regulation – primarily manage family and marital affairs, including divorce and remarriage.

      Previous investigations have found imams in Britain facilitating underage marriage and polygamy, as well as encouraging women to return to abusive husbands.

      There have also been allegations of so-called “pleasure marriages” for men who wish to have sex with women who are not their wives.

      Rebecca Paul MP, a Conservative member of the Commons women and equalities committee, said: “There is nothing at all ‘honourable’ about these crimes – they are attacks on women and girls who dare to make their own choices on what they wear, who they love and what they do in life.

      “This is unacceptable in modern Britain.

      “Close-knit clannish structures within isolated, unintegrated communities allow such violence to continue unreported and unchallenged.

      “More tailored support for Muslim women facing domestic abuse is needed along with a more assertive approach to integration.”

Badenoch persevered: the information was, after all, in the public domain. “Did the Prime Minister conveniently forget this fact, or did he decide it was a risk worth taking?” Another feint, gesturing to the “process”. “The Prime Minister cannot blame the process,” Badenoch continued – the detail about Mandelson staying at Epstein’s property was on Google.

      She asked again: did the vetting mention Mandelson’s ongoing relationship with the paedophile? “Yes,” Starmer admitted. “It did.”
      Mandelson had been leaking market-sensitive government memos to Epstein, his continued friendship with a convicted sex criminal was publicly available – Badenoch herself noted it had been reported in the FT. Still, it was something to hear the Prime Minister admit it to the House.

      It is gradually becoming apparently just how major an error of judgement that appointment was. Nor has Starmer been able to shake accusations of indecisiveness: he was slow to sack Mandelson in September, too slow to expel him from the Labour Party at the weekend, and tied himself in knots over whether the government would attempt to remove his peerage. Now the debate over the release of what we can now call the “Mandelson files” deepens the impression that this government is either weak or has something to hide. Both suggest something has gone very wrong with the Prime Minister’s judgement.

      Ed Davey said Mandelson stayed in the house of a convicted sex criminal. The Prime Minister knew that, and chose to appoint him as US ambassador anyway. No amount of hiding behind process or blaming Mandelson’s lies can get around that. To govern is to choose. And that choice speaks volumes.

      Suella Braverman renews call for burka ban as she warns of major 'betrayal'

      She laid out her stance as she issued a warning over integration in Britain.

      Mrs Braverman said burkas and niqabs are a bar to integration.

      A burka covers the entirety of the face, while the latter leaves a small slit for the eyes.

      "I think the burka should be banned in public places," she told The Sun - and specifically called for a ban in classrooms.

      "Britain is not a racist country. We're not a sexist country. The Equality Act has actually created division," she said, and warned of another Labour "betrayal" in schools.

      Last week, the Education Secretary unveiled new transgender guidance for Britain's schools which would let young children "socially transition" by changing their pronouns and uniforms.

      Mrs Braverman said the move "amounts to a betrayal of children", many of whom "require a mental health intervention not a surgical intervention".

      "Children are experimenting, they are thinking out loud," she said. They don’t really know what their identity is. They are still in the stages of development. For the authorities... to intervene in very radical, irreversible, life-changing ways is a disgrace.
      The burka and niqab are not akin to turbans, yarmulkes, headscarves or motorcycle helmets," she wrote in The Telegraph. "They are garments of erasure - of identity, of individualism, and of the mutual recognition that life in community demands."

      She added that when she had travelled to the Middle East, she had covered up her shoulders, legs and hair when asked.

      "Is it so outlandish to expect that those who come to Britain might return the courtesy?" Mrs Braverman said.

      "A society that tolerates everything, even its own erosion, will not survive," she concluded.

      Zia Yusuf, also backed a ban Britain should ban the burka in public because it poses a "huge impediment to assimilation", he said.

      Mexican drug cartel leader killed in US-backed operation.
      The U.S. commended Mexican authorities for killing the leader of one of the largest narco-terrorist cartels in the country on Sunday.

      The U.S. provided intelligence support for a Mexican operation that resulted in the death of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as "El Mencho," who was the leader of the Jalisco New Generation cartel. Cervantes was killed in a shootout with Mexican forces inside his home as they attempted to carry out an operation to capture him.

      The cartel reacted to its leader's death with violence across Mexico, placing roadblocks and setting vehicles on fire throughout Sunday. Mexican authorities said they had cleared most of the roadblocks by late Sunday.

      U.S. Ambassador Ron Johnson recognized the success of the Mexican armed forces and their sacrifice in a statement late Sunday. He added that "under the leadership of President Trump and President Sheinbaum, bilateral cooperation has reached unprecedented levels."

      A close friend of Sir Keir Starmer shared an £8million pot for his work negotiating the Chagos Islands 'surrender' deal to cede the territory to Mauritius.

      Philippe Sands KC, who describes himself as a 'great friend' of the Prime Minister, pocketed his share of the sum while acting as chief legal counsel to Mauritius.

      Professor Sands, a leading international human rights lawyer who is also close with Attorney General Lord Hermer, led a series of legal teams who were almost exclusively tasked with fighting for the cession of the island to Mauritius.

      Together they were allocated at least £8,300,000 from the Mauritian state budget, official documents show, a large bonus would also be paid on the deal's completion.

      Professor Sands, who was controversially pictured hoisting a Mauritius flag over the Chagos islands in 2022, joked about 'humiliating Britain completely' during a talk at the University of Cambridge in 2023.

      He has been branded a 'mercenary' by one Labour MP, who accused him of 'pretending to care about rights'.

      Graham Stringer, who has urged fellow Labour MPs to block the deal, told the Daily Mail: 'Philippe Sands is making a fortune representing the interests of a foreign country.
      Sands, the Prime Minister and the Attorney General all believe that international courts, dominated by judges from China are more important than our own democracy.
      The sooner we take control back for the people of this country, and not for foreign courts with lawyers making millions, the better.

      One of the International Court of Justice judges who ruled Britain should give the islands to Mauritius 'as rapidly as possible, effectively forcing the UK to begin negotiations over the archipelago, is a former Chinese government official who backed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

      Mr Stringer claimed that 'Sands pretends to care about rights but in actual fact he is trying to regress the Chagossians who don't want Mauritian control.

      'Forget the little people that he used to talk about, victims of crimes against humanity and human rights abuses who he used to care about.

      'He's clearly supporting wherever the cash flows.'Beatrice Pompe, who obtained a High Court injunction which temporarily prevented the UK government from signing the deal with Mauritius, called Professor Sands a 'snake'.

      Oolice in France have charged seven people with murder after lynching of a 23-year-old student in Lyon last Thursday.

      Quentin Deranque was allegedly kicked to death by a group of extreme-Left activists belonging to a group called the Young Guard outside Sciences Po Lyon. Eleven people were arrested at the start of the week, and among them are two assistants to a far-Left MP.

      French government proscribed the Young Guard because it was “regularly involved in particularly violent actions”. It listed some of these actions: threatening feminists, assaulting a 15-year-old Jewish boy on the Paris metro and attacking political opponents.

      During a demonstration four young supporters of Giorgia Meloni’s Right-wing party Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy) were attacked with iron bars by far-Left activists. There is no evidence that Arnault was involved in the fracas, but his mere presence has alarmed Italian politicians. Vincenzo Sofo, a member of Brothers of Italy wants a “joint investigation into Raphaël Arnault and the links between the various anti-fascist networks in Europe.”
