Have no plans to introduce wheelie bins in the near future. It’s such a shame as the rubbish that gets strewn over the streets from foxes and crows etc attacking the bags looking for food. The problem is exacerbated by householders putting their rubbish bags out the night before, and in some cases days before rubbish collections are due.
What do people think?

I set up a new loop over three weeks ago and had to eventually get in touch with Scooploop to inform them of said new loop as there was no sign of them approving it and giving it ‘live status’. I finally received a DM yesterday, at long last, that the loop is now live. It’s called ‘No Nonsense News’. There will be no ‘waiting for moderator approval’ nonsense when members start new threads. I recently left a news loop because of a moderator dragging his heels when approving threads. You can join here.

Nadine Dorries has finally resigned her seat in Mid Beds. She is apparently livid with Rishi Sunak for allegedly blocking her way to the House of Lords.
All together now. Awwwww diddums. -
The Council has had to remove a number of trees after they were deliberately poisoned.
The otherwise healthy trees were dying as a result of deliberate poisoning, which is a criminal offence.
A healthy Whitebeam had holes drilled into various places within the bottom of its trunk, and a London plane had holes drilled into the very base of the trunk and the tops of the roots.
The holes in both trees went around the base of the tree like a ring, and poison had then been poured into the holes. The holes ensure the poison will reach into all parts of the tree, including its vascular system.
These trees, and others that have been targeted, previously showed no other sign of disease and there were no other environmental changes that would have caused their demise.
The Council will investigate all incidents and anyone found guilty could face prosecution. Every tree that is poisoned has to be removed and then replaced if possible, meaning additional costs to both the Council and residents each time.
A dead or dying tree is dangerous as it can quickly fall over. The Council and local residents want to ensure we protect our trees on the highway so that we can continue to enjoy a greener borough.
You can report issues with trees on our website. -

Isn’t it a shame that people that are readers of right wing newspapers like The Daily Mail and are viewers of GB News and who comment on ULEZ don’t let facts get in the way of the truth of the matter.
In 2014 Boris Johnson, then Mayor of London, announced plans for an ultra low emission zone (ULEZ). It was then implemented by Johnson’s successor Sadiq Khan in April 2019.
In 2020, Sadiq Khan approached central government for extra funding to alleviate revenue loss because of the pandemic.
The ‘ULEZ expansion’ was a condition set by the Conservative Government (By the then Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps) in return for more funding.
Photo below shows a letter from The Department for Transport (Grant Shapps) stating the terms for extraordinary funding. -
I wonder when we are going to get an MP for my constituency that can do the job he’s being paid for. The situation at the moment is laughable.

Is still out there. I tested positive five days ago and felt really drained for the first three days with an excruciating headache that only faded yesterday evening. It’s now manageable.

but like me, is everyone sick and tired of Philip Schofield dominating the news for what seems to be ages now? I’ve never watched any programme he’s been in thankfully, so I don’t need his shenanigans rammed down my throat in every news bulletin. There’s more important topics to worry about.
I’d wager I’m not alone in my view. -
Partner and I received this email from Virgin today. Copper cables are being taken out of the telephone network. We will have to connect our landline to our router.
On 18th August 2023, your home phone service will switch to our fibre network. This means it’ll run through the Virgin Media Hub.
You’ll need an adapter(s) to use your home phone service, which we’ll send in the post. It’ll connect your home phone to the Hub and comes with a simple step-by-step guide to help you set it up. You’ll need to do this on 18th August 2023, but don’t worry, we’ll send a message to remind you.
What is Virgin Media’s fibre phone service?
Instead of old, traditional copper lines, we’re moving our home phone services over to our fibre network – the same one we use for broadband. Most handsets are compatible, so once you’ve switched, you’ll be able to use your home phone in exactly the same way you do now.
In the unlikely event of a power cut or disruption, you won’t be able to make or receive calls. Most connected devices (like burglar alarms or telecare devices) will be affected, so we recommend checking that they have their own battery and network back-up service. You should also contact your device provider to make sure they’re compatible with fibre before you switch.
Check if any of the following information applies to you
If any of it does, you must call us on 150 from a Virgin Media home phone or mobile, or 0345 454 1111 from any other phone. -
The Paedophile (Edited)
Rolf Harris died. He was 93. He was found guilty of a string of indecent assaults between 1968 and 1986 following a trial in 2014 - and was jailed for five years and nine months. One of the sexual assaults he was found guilty of was on a friend of his own daughter. A despicable man in all respects. May he rot in hell.

Since coming back from a holiday abroad, I have had trouble with connecting to Scooploop. Because we decided to buy a local Sim card instead of paying megabucks to use the UK one, the UK sim didn't reboot when we returned home, so I had to go to the phone shop to get it sorted out, since when it seems that I can't access most of the loops which I subscribed to before. I have submitted a request to rejoin, but so far no luck, although I still get the updates by email, though I can't read more than the title. Any suggestions?
