Name the recording artists beginning with B

A music-based quiz today covering the 1950s to the modern day. Below are 25 pairs of songs, each pair being top 30 UK hits for the same recording artist(s) – you have to name them.

You have two big clues to each pair of songs – the year they were hits and the fact that every artist(s)’ name begins with the letter B. To clarify, the B will be the first letter of the name on the record with the one exception of groups starting with The. So, for example, Cliff Richard would be regarded as beginning with C but The Shadows would be regarded as beginning with S. Some easy but some more difficult. No internet use of course.

REMEMBER - NO POSTS instead you PM me with your guesses any time up to 8pm tonight. If possible, please wait until you've completed all the guesses you want to make to avoid too many PMs and to make my job easier. So no hurry and it doesn't matter when you submit the answers because I'll be judging them solely on who has the most correct - and in the event of two or more being level it will be a tie. I hope this is clear and good luck. Tomorrow I’ll post the names of the top entries.

      EU flags quiz

Today’s quiz relates to the flags of the 27 EU Member States. For each Member State, do you know or can you guess which colours appear on its flag? The order in which they may appear does not matter. To avoid any issues over what to call some colours the answers I will accept are Red, Black White, Yellow, Green, Blue or Orange. ALSO I am not counting colours that only appear in the emblems on some flags such as Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Malta and Slovenia. Without using reference material or the internet, of course. Knowledge of football strips may well help here – but you can make guesses of course.

      Spouses of famous people quiz

I like to inject some variety in the quizzes so here is one about celebrity spouses. Even if, like me, you pay no attention to celebrity gossip, you will know some of these. Below are 12 famous people who have been married more than once – the total number of times is in brackets. How many of their spouses can you name? Two points for each full name (pre-marriage in the case of wives) and one point for a Christian or surname only. So 90 points in total but if anyone gets anywhere near that I’ll be gobsmacked – I didn’t recognise quite a few of the names. Naturally you can only guess up to the number of spouses in each case and no internet help of course. Do have a go and good luck.

REMEMBER - NO POSTS instead you PM me with your guesses any time up to 8pm tonight. If possible, please wait until you've completed all the guesses you want to make to avoid too many PMs and to make my job easier. Countries etc with the highest average elevation quiz

Can you guess which are the 10 countries with the highest average elevation? This list includes one continent the average elevation of which places it at #5. One guess each and we can see who gets the highest number correct. If you name more than 10 only the first ten would be considered of course. Naturally no internet to be used. Good luck.

Name the recording artist 20 - 1957 (Edited)

How well, if at all, do you remember 1957. Here are 20 big hits from the UK charts in that year with which you may be familiar even if you weren’t born then! How many of the artists responsible for these hits can you remember/identify – without using reference material or the internet, of course. PLEASE REMEMBER, if you change your mind on an answer, use a new post rather than editing the original (in the interests of fairness) – thanks
