MESSAGING -- "2000-character limit exceeded" -- warning shown too late!

Just chatting with someone using SL Messaging.
I can be verbose at times!
Since the edit box cannot be resized, it is not easy to realise quite how much you have written in a single message...
...until you press 'Send', see a warning that says "Message has to be between 1 and 2000 characters long", and realise that your creativity has vanished into the ether!

    Noooooo!

Lesson learnt, but I'm sure I won't be the only one caught out.

Would it be possible to change this behaviour, please?

A message warning that there was a 2000-character limit would be a good start.
A 'smart' solution would be for this warning to only appear when the edit box contained 2000+ characters (but BEFORE the Send button is pressed).
An alternative user-friendly solution would be to retain the text to allow editing until the message can be sent!
