Bug: 'Hard returns' removed by editors, hence losing paragraph clarity

White space is essential for good comprehension. Why are the editors programmed to remove line breaks from posts and comments? This compresses the text, making it much harder to read, and may even change the meaning of what the author has written.

Including hyperlinks is an even bigger challenge.

Inline, with spaces, they usually work, like this: https://www.scooploop.com

But if you put a link on the following line, say after a colon, all white space is removed and the link cannot be parsed, like this:https://www.scooploop.com

There is a workaround, putting them on a new line with multiple line breaks, like this:

    https://www.scooploop.com

But that is an awful lot of faff, when everyone is used to editors that don't corrupt your text in this way.

Could you investigate (and fix!) please?
