Suspect among ten dead after mass shooting in Bondi Beach
Ten people have died – including one suspected gunman – after a mass shooting on Sydney’s Bondi Beach, police have confirmed.
Eleven others have been injured in the attack, including two police officers, while searches of the area continue amid reports of a number of suspicious items in the area.
Terrified locals reported hearing “up to 50” gunshots in the Campbell Parade area at around 6.40pm local times, according to reports.
New South Wales Police force warned members of the public to take shelter.

UK's failure to end asylum crisis is costing taxpayers £5 billion every year The UK's inability to deport failed asylum seekers is fuelling an extortionate bill for taxpayers, a scathing report has revealed. The spending watchdog accused ministers of not taking a "realistic approach" to removing people with no right to seek sanctuary. And this has led to "significant" costs, the National Audit Office said. Bakatash has been charged with two counts of rape of a girl aged under 16, one count of sexual assault, and one count of assault by penetration. All the alleged offences are said to have been committed on Saturday, December 6. He had been in online contact with the girls before meeting them, GMP said. Thousands protest in village after army cadets booted out of camp to make way for 600 migrants A former army camp where the Government plans to house hundreds of migrants has been hit with a fresh set of protests. Somali refugees in Minnesota have committed the 'biggest theft of taxpayer dollars in US history' Federal authorities announced this week that at least 86 people within small Somali communities in the state - have stolen more than $1 billion in public funds from programs meant to feed children, assist the homeless and provide autism therapy. The suspects allegedly ran companies that billed Minnesota state officials for millions of dollars in social services that were never actually rendered in three separate fraud schemes. It has since been revealed that Representative Ilhan Omar and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz had connections with at least some of the Somali refugees charged in the massive scheme. They were both pictured with Abdul Dahir Ibrahi, who was taken into Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody on Friday. He had previously been convicted in Canada of asylum and welfare fraud. Trump administration probes whether the millions of dollars that were fraudulently obtained were funneled to terrorist organizations, including Somalia-based Al-Shabaab. -

Reed notched up number 73 earlier this month, when he set a young woman called Bethany MaGee on fire on a Chicago train, leaving her severely injured. A teenage girl who was tied up and thrown into a swamp to drown in an honour killing had infuriated her strict father by refusing to wear an Islamic headscarf and by using social media, Dutch prosecutors have said. The body of 18-year-old Ryan Al Najjar was found gagged, her hands tied behind her back and her ankles taped together, dumped in a swamp six days after she vanished from the family home in Joure in May last year. Her brothers, Mohamed, 23, and Muhanad Al Najjar, 25, are now on trial for her murder, while their father, Khaled - accused of ordering the killing - has fled back to Syria. Investigators found her father's DNA under Ryan's fingernails but prosecutors say they cannot determine whether he or one of her brothers carried out the killing 'Honor killings are completely unacceptable,' the prosecutor said, 'This is a form of femicide'. Former Islamic teacher, 71, jailed for sex offences against little girls as young as 7. 71-year-old former Islamic teacher in Ipswich, who was convicted of numerous non-recent sexual assaults, has been jailed. Hafez Ashraf Uddin, of Wivenhoe Road, Barking, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday 21 November, where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. He has also been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and been made subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Uddin was found guilty of 13 counts of indecent assault at Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, June 5, following a trial lasting almost four weeks. The offences relate to six separate victims – who were all girls aged between seven and 14-years-old – and occurred between 1985 and 1999. It took far too long but they got him eventually. -

Fury over Police Federation boss £700,000 salary and 100% bonus The leader of a staff association for rank-and-file police officers has received a 100 per cent bonus for the past two years as he was paid £1.4million over the period. Mukund Krishna, chief executive of the Police Federation of England and Wales, received a total annual remuneration of £701,100 for each of 2024 and 2025. The former management consultant's annual salary had already been disclosed on Tuesday as £342,000 after a freedom of information request by a police officer. But now, the federation has also said he received a 100 per cent bonus 'retention payment' and a 5 per cent contribution of £17,000 to his pension for each year. Mr Krishna's total remuneration means he receives the biggest paycheque of any trade association or union leader in Britain, according to The Times. No wonder he's smiling. -

US suspends Afghan immigration requests after National Guards shooting It's time to stop this madness! The US has suspended all immigration requests for Afghan nationals after two National Guard soldiers were shot near the White House. It comes after the suspect of Wednesday’s shooting, which US President Trump labelled as an “act of terror”, was identified by the Department of Homeland Security as Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal. It is understood he arrived in the US in September 2021. The two soldiers, who were part of a militarized law enforcement mission ordered by Trump months ago, were hospitalised in critical condition. Tens of thousands of Afghan nationals entered the US under special immigration protections following the US withdrawal from the country in 2021, under former president Joe Biden. The 29-year-old suspect is understood to have entered the country under the Operation Allies Welcome programme. -

Labour support continues to fall as Reform steals triple by-election victory. Labour's dwindling support across the country has been laid bare once again after the party lost ground in each of the seven council by-elections on Thursday, while Nigel Farage's Reform UK headed in the opposite direction. By-elections were held in Cheshire East, Dumfries and Galloway, East Sussex, Redcar and Cleveland and Stratford-on-Avon. The by-election was called following the resignation of Ashley Farrall days before he was jailed for attempting to pervert the course of justice. Ex-Labour councillor jailed for 12 months after trying to stop justice. -

Miliband's dash for Net Zero lands millions of families with yet another energy bills hike Millions of families are to be hit with another rise in energy bills this winter because of Ed Miliband's dash for Net Zero. Energy regulator Ofgem said government 'policy costs' were a key driver in the latest rise, which takes the price cap to £1,758 a year. Bills will rise even though wholesale energy prices have fallen by four per cent. The cap is £190 higher than when Labour came to power last year, despite Mr Miliband's pre-election pledge to cut bills by £300. The situation is so embarrassing for the Government that Rachel Reeves is now considering action in next week's Budget to remove the cost of things like connecting wind farms to the grid from energy bills and pay for them through general taxation. But critics tonight called on Keir Starmer to 'rein in' Mr Miliband and bring a halt to the remorseless rise in UK energy costs, among the highest in the developed world. For a town already struggling with squeezed services, many residents told the Express the issue is tearing the community apart. Susan Weston, 66, said there was a "growing concern that all these young men coming over are actually, homeless, paperless She warned the situation is "causing this country an awful lot of problems" and said Sir Keir Starmer, What is he doing as Prime Minister, has he got any idea? I don't think he has. Sir Keir Starmer was being "pushed by the Muslim population", alleging it was "obvious, otherwise why would all these fighting men, muslims, be coming over to this country? Well, they're votes for Labour." Colin Easthope, 73, who has lived in the area for 28 years. "Instead we are giving away money overseas, and not looking after our own in this country. Labour are a 'no-no' from me. "It's a struggle to hear English on the high street. It takes a week to get an appointment. It's changed in the three years I've lived here," One of the flashpoints that epitomised local division occurred early this year when a local man chased a group of youngsters into a shopping center after they "ran into him" and "pushed him" before shouting "English B*stard". -

Sick paedophile who described rape of 12-year-old boy as 'best sex ever' is jailed An East London paedophile who sickeningly described raping a 12-year-old child as the "best sex ever" has been jailed. Barthimaus Ehiemere, 25, was sentenced to 22 years, which includes 18 in custody and four on extended licence, after being convicted of multiple child sex offences.
