    Strange Key Change

I have a problem with my UK keyboard, initially after a reboot it behaves correctly but usually only for a single use of the problem key - the problem is that my Hash/Tilde key only gives me either a Hash or Tilde on the first use after a reboot, after that it either gives me a righthand square or curly bracket. I've tried using a piece of software called Sharpkeys but I can't find anyway of changing that particular key with this program. I've even tried the inbuilt onsceen keyboard but that still does the same.

    I have checked
Windows Settings - Time & Language - Region - Country or Region which shows United Kingdom
Likewise Regional Format shows English (United Kingdom)
Language is set to English (United Kingdom) and prefered languages only lists English (United Kingdom) no others are listed

It's definitely a UK keyboard which I've had for a number of years and this is a recent problem (last 4 or 5 months) and I've tried another UK replacement without any success.

If I need a Hash or Tilde I have to copy and paste these from a document that I've saved on my desktop specifically for that purpose.

I suspect it is probably something in the registry that has become corrupted but why would it work just the once after a reboot and then revert to the faulty setting.
If it is a registry setting where might I find it to check

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
