    Reminiscing - 1958

    I personally regard 1958 as one of the greatest years for pop music. So many new artists who became well-known names. Surprisingly the biggest hit of 1958 came from one of the old-timer Perry Como with Magic Moments. But this was Buddy Holly's year - no chart-toppers but he came close with Peggy Sue. Any Buddy Holly fans in the group?

    1958 was the year:

    - of the Munich air crash
    - the first parking meters were installed
    - the emergence of CND protests
    - the first motorway was opened (the Preston by-pass)
