Is Crystal Palace being demoted actually good news?

Here's the story. Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, meaning they qualified for next season's Europa League. Europe's 2nd tier competition. But UEFA have noticed that one of the club's joint owners is also a joint owner of the French club Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League. UEFA rules are that two clubs with the same owner cannot play in the same competition. The club with the higher league position gets priority. Lyon finished 6th in France, Palace finished 12th, so Palace have been demoted to the Conference League, the 3rd tier competion.
Although some are saying Palace have been treated unfairly as the owner only has a minority shareholding, I think it could end up being a good thing for the club and supporters. They would have a much better chance of winning the Conference League than the Europa League.
