Information, tips and myths - No.27 - Phoning 999 when you have no signal

If you have no signal, you may still be able to dial 999. This is because your phone is able to use any other available network. Even if another network does not have a stable signal, you may still be able to send a text. To be able to send a text, you need to have registered your phone beforehand. You do this by texting the word ‘register’ to 999, you’ll receive a reply which you need to read and reply to with the word 'yes', you will now be able to text to 999.
