Humane Society and farrowing crates- good news
Thank you for speaking up for mother pigs.
The Animal Welfare Strategy states, “Ending the use of cages and crates is a key priority for this government”, which shows that with your support, we are making vital progress.
Our evidence has proven that farrowing crates, which confine mother pigs so tightly they can’t turn around for five weeks when they give birth, are horrendously cruel. And with your help, we’ve shown politicians that the British public wants compassion to lead animal policy.
Please keep speaking up for pigs! In the new year, the government will launch a consultation on the transition away from farrowing crates, and we’ll need your voice to ensure that crates are gone for good and not replaced with a new type of cage.
If you haven’t already, please add your name to our petition calling for a full ban on farrowing crates across all of the UK.
