Housing Support Fund
Someone I know applied to the councils housing support fund for help with energy bills. They sent her two vouchers for £100 each with instructions to take them to a Paypoint shop and exchange them for cash.
A few days ago she went to her local shop at 9.30am with both vouchers. The shop opens at 8.30am. The young girl behind the counter said "I don't know if I can do both vouchers at once" so my friend said to just cash one of them and she'd be back with the other one another time. The girl said, "ok, I need to get the older lady to do it because she knows how to enter the details etc".
The older lady looks at the voucher, looks at a kind of ledger book, and says, "we are done for today, I can't cash this today" Then she says "you can try again tomorrow, but we will only give you £80". So my friend walked out really p*ssed off.
I've said to her to go to another shop and if the same happens to clarify you will still get the other £20 the next day.
