BBC reporter's family to pay reparations for owning slaves

Talk about doubling down on BBC wokeness. The family are giving £100k to set up a community project, which is probably more helpful than paying individual descendants of the slaves - if they could be traced.
Couple of questions I have; if more woke families start paying reparations for having slaves in the Caribbean islands, how long before West African countries start asking for reparation money as the countries where the slaves orginated?
And, why does the article even need to mention the BLM, which has nothing to do with this story?
