Another scam!! Anyone else had this one?
Guy phones you,very business like and brusque, saying he`s Sergeant whatever, even gives a (spurious) badge number from Scotland Yard. Says there`s been fraudulent activity on your account. A quick check online will assure you that isn`t true,or ring your bank to assure yourself-I did. Don`t give him any details. He may know your name and address but anyone can get most people`s from a directory or the voters register and many other places. I don`t even confirm they have the right person if it`s someone I don`t know-even if they say it`s the police! He says, "ring the Police on 161 if you prefer" -this website says it`s a hotel... https://who-called.co.uk/Number/161#caller-id
I can see how this would panic some people into calling 161 and getting scammed.
