Police are responding to reports of an active shooter at a Jewish synagogue and school in Michigan.
Local news reported that a driver crashed into Temple Israel in the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield.
There was a large police response and authorities have asked the public to avoid the area.
Temple Israel is home to one of the largest Reform Jewish congregations in the US.
The Jewish Federation of Detroit ordered all Jewish organisations in the area to lockdown.
“We are aware of an active security incident at Temple Israel. Law enforcement are responding. Our Jewish agencies are currently in precautionary lockdown. We ask community members to stay away from the area at this time,” the group posted to social media.
