    From 2 to 21 August in Sprout Arts you can follow the journey of transforming a raw fleece and making wool on a spinning wheel. Featuring textiles, tapestries and weaving skills. Open every day except Monday 11am - 5pm With Geraldine Kelly, Friends from the Vauxhall City Farm Spinners and the London Guild of Spinners and Weavers running demonstrations and workshops. As well as demonstrations, there will be a tapestry exhibition and lots of fun drop-in activities for all ages, including a 'Drop spinning Challenge' leader-board and special workshops for both families and adults to book. The workshops are on 4th, 10th and 17th of August. These need to be booked in advance through Sprout with a payment of £10, additional materials and equipment kits are payable on the day.     Wednesday 10th August - Weaving workshops: An introduction to spinning with Aruna Reddy, morning session for children and families, afternoon for adults. Using woollen threads, needles shuttles and bobbins, and looms, and your own fingers, learn how to design and create your own weaving. This workshop is run by Aruna Reddy who is an experienced tapestry weaver, exhibitor, and demonstrator of her craft. By the end of the session you will learn how to weave in plain and multi-colours, cover various ways of starting your weaving piece, and removing it from the frame, find out about different types of looms and weaving techniques and know how to continue on your weaving journey after you leave the workshop. We will provide colourful woollen yarns and ready warped up loom frames for you to use. You may purchase a warped up frame in the Sprout shop if you wish to take one away with you.     Photographing Food at Home Workshop with Derek Lomas is on Sunday 12 June 1:30 - 4:30pm An introduction to natural light and flash light food photography that can be reproduced in a small room. No experience required, just enthusiasm for the subject. A DSLR is preferable for the type of shots we’ll be working on, but having your own camera not essential, assuming you are aiming to buy one in future. Derek will start with a brief introduction and some technical exposure matters, but only those relevant to our subject. Everyone should leave with a good idea on how to reproduce the shots we take on the day. Derek is a professional Still life and Portrait photographer whose clients include L’Oreal, Waitrose, and The Sunday Times.     Join artist Tracey Elizabeth Downing for her “Enfolded” workshop, exploring collage, image and text in lovely little concertina sketchbooks. At Sprout Arts on Thursday 21st and 28th April 2022 No previous experience necessary just curiosity. Materials provided but feel free to bring any small objects of significance; a favourite cup, ornament or item of clothing; Photographs; Newspaper clippings or a book (that you don’t mind cutting up). You will take away a lovely A7 sea-white hardback concertina sketchbook with contents created during the workshop, there is no expectation for you to take away a finished article, I use my concertina’s as a way of visually recording what I notice and I can go back to them time and time again to rework them and use them as a springboard for my paintings.     There's a new fun life-drawing session starting tomorrow lunchtime - Sat 29th January 1-3pm, with local girl Ellie from Drawing With Sound @soundandvision presenting a live (clothed) model posing to music at Rick's Restaurant, 122 Mitcham Road, Tooting. If your resolutions included getting into art then this relaxed session is a good start - called 'The Night Cafe' after Van Gogh - it will be about painting the artist painting with music being a key part of the experience, some materials will be provided and drinks & snacks from Rick will be available.
