Would you like to volunteer to support refugees into work?
Over 70% of refugees in London are unemployed, despite being legally able to work and having the skills, aspirations and motivation to do so. At Breaking Barriers, our vision is that every refugee in London can fulfil their potential, and integrate into their new home, through employment which matches their skills and ambitions.

We are looking for Advice & Guidance Volunteers to help launch it. Could this be you?

    What are we looking for?
Advice and Guidance Volunteers provide 1:1 guidance to our inspirational refugee clients. You would be helping to write CVs and job applications; running mock interviews and providing advice on UK work culture.

    Are you able to...

share your knowledge/experience of the UK job market?
confidently use internet, MS Word and Gmail?
communicate fluently in written and spoken English?
demonstrate empathy and understanding to the challenges refugees face?
In order to be eligible, volunteers should be able to:
volunteer for 2 hour appointments, on Wednesdays, taking place between 10am-5pm (exact appointment times are flexible throughout the day)
commit to 3-6 months of volunteering regularly (ie. 4 appointments per month)
bring own laptop to volunteering and provide 2 references
Volunteers with knowledge of Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Somali, Farsi and Pashto are particularly welcomed.
What will happen on the day?
This is a group screening and induction event for potential volunteers. You will learn more about our work, meet our staff and see if the role suits your interests. Volunteers who meet the commitment and eligibility requirements will then be invited to complete this process:

Complete two training appointments with experienced volunteers and staff
    Provide two references
