Virtual Writing Retreat (VWR) is a community of remote workers who work together on a shared schedule for accountability and support. Although we are predominantly postgraduate researchers and early career post-doc researchers, everyone is welcome at VWR. We come from a wide range of backgrounds, industries and sectors, including education, public services, researchers, book writers, bloggers, home workers, small business owners, academic writers, post-graduate students and more.
What we share is the desire to increase our productivity and effectiveness in our chosen fields. We have found accountability is a key element for reaching these goals. Others enjoy the social aspect of the retreat as it reduces the feelings isolation that remote working can bring by creating a sense of belonging. Working in this supportive way has allowed us to develop a culture and community where the transfer of knowledge is organic and where tips of best practice are shared freely. This is a core foundation of the retreat.
Therefore, VWR is much more than a writing platform: it is a supportive peer-led community that aims to create a sense of community, develop best practice and help our members reach their potential by empowering and motivating our members to create their best work.
This service is facilitated by VWR moderators who are experienced and knowledgeable writers (PhD). We understand the needs of the community because we started our VWR journey as members and still use the VWR to meet our own productivity goals. We want to share our winning strategy with you.
