Update Rail ticket office
Lonicera, this is brilliant news! In a major U-turn, plans to close almost every ticket office in England have just been dropped. [2] You were one of the 121,000 of us who took part in the campaign, so we wanted to say thank you! [3]
Rail operating companies thought they would be able to sneak these plans through without anyone noticing. Despite making millions in taxpayer-funded profits, they were determined to shut these offices at the expense of passengers - and the Government was prepared to let them do it. [4]
That’s where you came in, Lonicera. Just like we’ve done on so many campaigns throughout the years, the 38 Degrees community lept into action:
680,000 people responded to the official consultation, including more than 26,000 38 Degrees supporters. [5]
Over 114,000 of us signed the petition to put the needs of passengers over profit and keep our train ticket offices open. [6]
We flooded the inbox of the Rail Delivery Group’s CEO with 4,000 messages.
We went to the Rail Delivery Group HQ to hand in the petition, accompanied by a special guest. [7]
