Stamp Duty
This is a tax that’s completely unfair. As members may be aware, I’m in the process of moving (downsizing) house. The young couple who have bought my house STC are first time buyers which means the won’t have to pay any stamp duty. I, on the other hand will have a hefty stamp duty to pay following signing of contracts in my new house. I think, anyone that is downsizing, and leaving a bigger house for young families should at least have to pay a ‘reduced rate’ stamp duty. I’m sure I’m not alone in my thinking am I?
