Poor fairy
The tale of the traditional fairy on top of a Christmas tree:- Many years ago there was a glut of Christmas trees in Lapland. There were so many taking up precious space, it was becoming a big problem. So, Santa called all the fairies and elves to a meeting to discuss the problem. After a heated discussion it was agreed the Christmas trees were to be distributed all around the World on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve off they all went laden with toys and trees eager to get rid/distribute those darned trees. Early Christmas morning an exhausted Santa was enjoying a well earned 'tipple' when there was a knock on the door. Muttering to himself he opened the door and there stood a very bedraggled fairy holding a Christmas tree! 'Santa', she wailed 'there’s one Christmas tree left, what shall I do with it'? He told the bedraggled little fairy........ and that’s why there is a fairy on top of a Christmas tree!!
