    Lasting Power of Attorney

After a sudden illness within the extended family my husband and I have been prompted to apply for Lasting Power of Attorney for both financial and medical affairs whilst we both have capacity. It is possible to do this ourselves by filling in the forms and paying a fee on the Government website. A financial advisor however, has suggested we use a solicitor rather than do it ourselves as he said if we made a mistake it might cause problems in the future. Has anyone any experience they could share or advice to offer? Incidentally the Government site is estimating a time scale of 29 weeks. Thanks in advance.
