Electricity Saving Part 3
We cook and use domestic appliances, washing machine, microwave, fridge, freezer, and lighting by electricity and have made no effort to adjust our use in anyway.
The usage figures for the last 6 months and the last 6 years history for the period Feb to July in kWh’s are as follows :-
Year Usage % Variation
2016 2435 +9.98
2017 2072 -6.41
2018 2139 -3.39
2019 2267 +2.39
2020 2317 +4.65
2021 2057 -7.09
Mean 2214
2022 1724 -22.13
You will note that the largest variation from the mean usage (2214) for this period over the last 6 years is 9.98% but for the year 2022 since the introduction of the “saving devices” it has become -22.13%, over double any previously recorded figure, and that over a summer heatwave which has required the use of three fans for up to 16/18 hours a day which is unusual for us.
Based on these figures and at my contracted tariff of 18.95p/kWh I would save £109+ VAT per year, IF I were on the current variable tariff of 65.47p/kWh I would save £677 + VAT per year.
These are the facts, I leave it up to the reader to draw whatever conclusion that they wish or if they wish to dispute the issue by providing a convincing explanation.
Finally I have just received a notification from my supplier that I should REDUCE my monthly payment by £15 to keep my account in balance. What I do know is that I shall retain the devices until the figures tell me otherwise, and that I will be ignoring the experts.
