    This recital takes us on a journey beginning with the early Lieder of Mozart, through the tantalising writing of Schubert, Schumann, and Mendelssohn, before coming to a dramatic climax in Strauss's Op.10, Letzte Blätter, a group of songs rarely performed together, due to their technical demands along with their weighty symbolism. Tonight, we will perform 6 of these songs, each one a stand alone song in its own right. We are taken through a journey of the lover's life experiences; of remembrance, failure, regret, and of loss. Woven thickly through Hermann von Gilm's emotive poetry, these songs really are a treat of any recital. Our recital will also include works by Britten, Phillip Martin, and E. J. Moeran.
