Can you help identify a film
I'm trying to track down a film which I saw on TV many years ago.
A scientist somehow travels to an alternative earth where world war two never happened, and as a result technology is many years behind that in his world.
While he's trying to get back to his world he falls in love with a woman who has a fatal medical condition which is curable in his world but not in hers.
She dies and makes him promise to find her in his world.
He eventually gets back home and tracks down the woman just in time to save her life.
I think it was based on a John Wyndham story.
